  1. Your point was that Reed felt insulted by being overlooked by Smallwood and Evans. My point is that Travis took the place of one because he was more disciplined in that position, a point Tony made. Reed clearly was not as disciplined as Tony wanted. Plus he was a loanee, surely he felt more insulted by being overtaken by a 20 something youth player?
  2. Well he incorporated Travis into the team, who clearly knew the position and played it the way Tony wanted. Reed is a loanee player, so I'm glad Travis was used there more than Reed anyway!
  3. Embarrassing how? “Harrison needs to learn a bit of discipline about central midfield in my opinion. Normally I play Smallwood and Evans in the middle of the pitch because they stop the counter-attacks and play their position. “Harrison is naturally a bundle of energy and runs everywhere, he’s out on the wing, he’s in the box, on the left wing, and the midfield is empty. Essentially he leaves far too much space behind him because he lacks discipline in midfield. In the same article he praises Reed and says if he plays like he did (match just gone), no reason why he can't start.
  4. If this was after the transfer window closed then sure we can gripe about a number of things. However thus far, we have lost Reed, Conway and Rodwell. Replaced with Downing, Johnson and possibly Adam. I would argue that the three are upgrades from the ones we lost (Reed was decent first half of season and not so great in second half) We need a new keeper, a new centre half and a striker. I'm waiting until the end of the window but not dissatisfied thus far.
  5. Downing is 3rd or 4th choice so this is where I got it from.
  6. I read somewhere that he was coming as a 3rd or 4th choice centre half so went for Preston?
  7. They have super rich owners, that's not going to happen. If Villa win today, expect a similar scenario to Wolves.
  8. My point is that we had no scouting network (International one) so there is one now, which Mowbray has wanted. How effective it is, well we shall see. Think we have had a scouting network in the UK and that would account for all the players Mowbray has signed. We were 3 points off safety and we are currently 16 points clear of relegation and 11 off play offs. With pretty much the same team, how do we account for the difference? Glass half empty or glass half full, Mowbray deserves praise. Premier league players have left with their wages and I'm sure Mowbray has spoken of us cutting our cloth accordingly. We were under an embargo for a while too so wages were limited to 10k a week as well. I also feel we resemble a football club again, we are not focused on dodgy agents or managers who have no business in being here. I would give Mowbray until Christmas and then evaluate what we do next.
  9. Lenihen and Nyambe are better players now than they were 2 years ago. Mulgrew wasn't scoring the goals he is now in the championship either. This summer is a big one for recruitment and it needs to be for Mowbray and our sakes.
  10. So the club that Mowbray joined is no different to the one we have now? 1. We had no scouting network, one has been set up. Expecting some foreign signings this summer, which should be the culmination of that hard work. 2. We were in free fall, heading into league 1. You are now talking about us potentially being play off contenders. 3. The wage bill has been dramatically reduced. 4. We had a team with wes brown in defence and Anthony Stokes up front with Liam feeney in midfield. We have a number of exciting young players coming through. We are not perfect, Mowbray certainly isn't, his safety first mantra is frustrating but let's not re write history, we had Coyle as manager before Mowbray...
  11. Where is the information from? I have a very limited understanding of accounts, so any clarity would be appreciated.
  12. We dont see the players in training but i would say this, Travis was brought into the team by Tony and Rothwell bought by him, so surely he gets credit for both?
  13. He didnt spend anywhere near 7 million and BB should be judged after a pre season/Christmas IMO. Dack is obvious, Rothwell will come good, Chapman too. Reed and Armstrong have been good signings too. Hindsight is wonderful, had everyone been fit, this would not be a conversation. We have a limited budget and i would wait until the right player appeared than by dross. Agreed with the above. His character is not flawed imo, he is someone who is loyal to his players, but this was a season of consolidation and he has stated that next season players will be bought to replace the current crop...so lets see. Overall for me Tony is at 7/10. Done well to get here but areas of improvement needed to progress.
  14. Isn't it a key part of management to make your existing players better ones? Raya, Nyambe, Williams, Evans, Bennett and Lenihan have all been better for us under Tony.
  15. Bennett oh my goodness! Unselfish by Dack and nice finish by Reed.
  16. Pass of the season by Bennett, according to the commentators.
  17. Not happy with the second half but it is a wake up call. Personally cannot see the Dack pic making a difference to the numerous poor decisions and performances, that's on Mowbray and his line up chosen today.
  18. January will come round in no time, we shall get Chapman then!
