  1. Saw Wailin' Jennys at Bury Met last night. Not normally my cup of tea (American/Canadian Folk) but have to say I was quite impressed. Good looking girls too......
  2. No, not really. Padihampedro recommended it in a previous post. They had it on draft and bottled in La Vina so I thought I'd try it. Had two bottles and I thought it was quite good. I prefer either Guinness or bitter these days but because we were where we were I thought I'd try something Spanish!
  3. If ever I organise a sewage-like pig swill drinking contest, then you're the man!
  4. Went to La Vina, Spanish restaurant/tapas bar on Deansgate yesterday - excellent - Cruzcampo there also.
  5. What a sad state of affairs regarding the reporting of this and another local piece of news in todays Lancashire Telegraph. Tucked away on page two with a relatively small headline is the report on the above fatal stabbing. The paper somehow decides to give front page headlines to a halfwit from Blackburn, who, after a row with his wife, decides to sleep in a garden shed which culminates in him suffering from frostbite. Unbelievable.
  6. Apparently, every day/night is of equal length, ie. 24 hrs.
  7. I played left wing when we (SMC) beat Witton Park 2-1 in the 1969/70 Blackburn Schools Final at Ewood. Hmmm now.....I would settle for £1500 per week and for that I would guarantee you three (yes, three) good crosses each game - that's three more than we get from the left at present. I would also drop 50% of my corners on the penalty spot. The other 50% would hit the first man but hey, what the heck.
  8. El Rincon (Spanish) is very good tucked away behind Deansgate and Quay Street. Its address is Deansgate but it is approached from behind via Artillery Street. Authentic, good atmosphere and excellent food. Hmmm, can feel a booking coming on......
  9. She's not a bad looker but like usually finds like.
  10. Wow! Zero degrees and 2" of snow Stop it lads before the Norwegians come on here and start taking the p!ss.
  11. Great watching Garns but Scott Sellars is top notch also. The mazy run and back heel at Wolves away were sublime! I am a big Gamst fan but I would take Scotty any day. Cheers Whittle.
  12. Agreed, and also why so many people on average wages or less have turned their back on football, preferring to spend their hard earned on summat else.
  13. There's no better sight than a 'packed to the rafters Ewood Park.' The attendance is always slightly higher against Liverpool than Man United. Quick mention for the Norwegian Supporters Club. Good to see so many of them over for this game with 30+ in the Fox & Hounds before the game.
  14. I remember Charlton fans being there and my cousin either seeing or being involved in some trouble - not on his part I would add. How time flies.
  15. Just on the last few pages of 'Profitoren' by the Norwegian author Tom Kristensen. Brilliant and couldn't put the thing down. I would never normally go for crime thrillers but this is the third book of his I've read recently and they've all been top drawer. Unfortunately none of his books, so far, are in English.
  16. Anyone into Scorpions? Just ordered Best of and Classic Bites off Amazon - waiting for the postie today........
  17. As the Asian area expands, the whites move out to edge of town developments - Oakdale being a classic example - or away altogether to a lesser degree.
  18. What a good idea phil - sod the unemployed - just bring a dog with you......... Steady on!
  19. A Price Waterhouse report that I've just read says turnover for both Celtic & Rangers has gone through the £60m barrier. I remember philipl saying our t/o was higher than the Old Firm's but that could have been a couple of years or so ago. Time flies.
  20. Blackburn the town probably can't. Blackburn the town plus tv monies can. Same could be said about Bolton, Fulham, Birmingham, Portsmouth and a few others. We have a bigger overall turnover than Celtic and Rangers. Let's enjoy it.
  21. Thought I would bring this one back to the top. My mate's dad used to run a butchers shop in Little Harwood. On this particular Saturday morning he was there bright and early helping his dad prepare the meat. When I say early I mean 6am. He rang me all excited to tell me Little Harwood was swarming with Plymouth fans who had come up on the overnight train. As has been said, I too remember the green paint all over the show and which actually remained in places for years afterwards. The funny thing was, there were a few PAFC's sprayed here and there but the scrumpy suppers must have been jumped because by evening BRFC seemed to be everywhere but also sprayed in green. I also remember getting to the top of the steps on the Blackburn End and seeing the mass of green opposite. What an atmosphere. Two down in no time and Don Martin missing a pen. A goal pulled back by Beamo just before half time, goal line clearances, a goal disallowed and a remarkable second half fight back by Rovers made this a game never to forget. One of the best ever and at that time in 1975 definitely the best in my time following Rovers, both on the pitch and on the terraces. Rovers : Jones, Heaton, Burgin, Metcalfe, Hawkins, Fazackerley, Beamish, Oates, Hickman, Parkes, Martin. Plymouth : Furnell, Hore, Burrows, Saxton, Green, Delve, Randell, Johnson, Mariner, Rafferty, McAuley. When you've just been beaten by a Greek pub team a bit of nostalgia works wonders.
