  1. Scotty - Ask your mate about El-Hadji Diouf - I work with a Bolton fan who a week or so ago went for a pint with a friend of his who works at the Reebok. He (my work colleague) was told that the "spitter" was gay and he had taken a shine to Kevin Nolan. Rumoured that Liverpool are unwilling to take him back because of his "persuasion." Can most probably be taken with a pinch of salt but the story did come from a Wanderers fan who also works at the Reebok!
  2. Very true - there is such a gulf between the PL and the Championship that once you are an established PL team, in theory all you need to do each summer is tinker with your squad to avoid relegation. Teams like Wolves, West Brom, Leicester etc are very good/too good for the Championship, but extremely poor in the PL. Once in a Blue Moon a team like Man City (like the pun?) comes along and stays up, but it's now becoming harder and harder to get promoted and stay up.
  3. Exactly! Darwen, Accrington or Oswaldtwistle for starters.
  4. Question for Mr Murray :- "Mr Murray, 18 months ago you (yes, you) valued Barry Ferguson at £6.5M. Since then he has enhanced both his CV and his reputation by performing quite well at English Premier League level, and against some of the best midfielders in the world. A notch or ten above that of the SPL. Could you please outline your reasons as to why you now value him at £3.5M less?
  5. If it's Fergy out and Savage in, as someone has already said, I feel we will be shafted twice. Once on a reduced Rangers fee (I don't think we'll recoup) and then on paying over the odds for Savage.
  6. It's about time the wee man opened his gob and said something one way or the other. His silence is deafening.
  7. That may be your overall opinion but it's not the one the overall one of this board. Can't pass or create chances. Get on to the ticket office and ask them to get you a seat facing the pitch. These weren't Chris' observations - they were a summary of what other posters' views were.
  8. Not sure how many we have sold but was told by the ticket office today that you can pay on the day. Coaches "sold out" but that doesn't necessarily mean 'owt.
  9. Agreed. Nor do we have a trophy cabinet full of dust!
  10. The attendance for the FA Cup qtr final replay against Burnley in 1960 is stated as 53,839 - the gates were locked well before kick off with an estimated 10,000 outside - I've seen photographs of the unlucky folk on Nuttall Street which were incredible. Had the "extras" been allowed to squeeze in somehow, this would have eclipsed the Bolton 1929 crowd by a thousand or so and been our all time high.
  11. Whilst we were left in the lurch when GS left, not even he himself could have predicted the Geordies would have come in for him. Who can blame him for wanting a go up there? Will still be nice to get one over on him though and I fully expect Rovers to win this one in front of a passionate Ewood crowd, bursting at the seams.
  12. Go to the JJB to watch Wigan Warriors - take TEN of your mates and sit down the side in the East Stand (equivalent to the Jack Walker upper). During the game you will be able to sup three pints of bitter (you can take ale to your seats at trouble free rugby league) and still have summat left over for a big tasty pie. That's what £161 will get you.
  13. Careful frosty - you're not allowed to be pro MGP on here - the clique will be gunning for you!
  14. Apparently not - we had a similar sort of discussion on here around 18 months ago. I argued (along with one or two others) that cheating should be dealt with more severely, feeling that it had no place in the game, but was shot down by a clear majority on this Board who thought cheating was a clever way of gaining an unfair advantage. So well done the lad from Palace. We all take our hats off to you. Well some of us do anyway.
  15. and this is proven by what? a handful of premiership games he's played? reid was poor for us in his first season and looked nothing special at all and also dominic matteo had an appauling start for us and was dropped but now both of them have been recalled. morten g-p hasn't been given a fair chance i think. Sometimes I wonder whether it's worth posting on here The point I was making is that he can do it at international level but isn't being given the chance at club level. I too think he should have been given a more lengthy run in the team. His serious lack of match fitness at PL level will now hinder his chances even further.
  16. I agree with what you say but feel it's all about fitness levels and adjustment to the speed of the Eglish game rather than a lack of quality. When he plays for Norway he seems to both score and weigh in with a fair number of assists. In other words he can do it at international level but not at club level.
  17. Unfortunately he can't do - The lad is so short of match fitness at PL level it's untrue. In fact I would wager I am fitter at present. Another fact worth looking at is that whenever he plays for Norway, (and against internationals obviously) he either scores or weighs in with a fair number of assists. The ability is there but his tempo for the English game isn't. Whilst I admit he looked poor at the beginning of the season, I can't help thinking that had he been given a run in the side we would now be seeing the benefit. Emerton has been playing well and so has Reid which has made it difficult for MGP to get a look in. Emerton initially played well on the left and during the course of games has tended to switch flanks with Reid more than once. During the last few games when Emerton has moved to the left he has not been as effective and I feel that Emerton on the right with MGP on the left would be the ideal scenario and give us better balance. For reasons mentioned above this is becoming nigh on impossible.
  18. Glenn - organise a five a side to get in the Soul Crews' good books!
  19. 1864 - I was in there last year, but as a corporate guest. When we pulled one back I was up in the air only to get a tap on the shoulder a couple of minutes later warning that I would be thrown out if I did anything similar! When we equalised, five minutes in to time added on, I went ballistic, as did my mate, but the steward didn't return. If you can be warned whilst being a corporate guest it's pretty sure that you'll be taken out if you are anywhere else in the stand - assuming Rovers score and you make yourself known that is!
  20. Just boycott the game and go to the Youth tie on 15 December instead. The youngsters would appreciate a 3000+ following for that one!
  21. True, but the simple fact is that Duffer was probably the best out of that list anyway. I've seen virtually all of them.
  22. Gallagher isn't yet fully match fit at this level but is still doing very well. He's the man.
  23. (1) Leighton James is a homosexual Clap Clap Clap Clap Clap - Clap Clap Clap - Clap Clap Leighton James is a homosexual Repeat etc Same tune.......... (2) Kindon's wife is on the game again Great when sung by a 12k away following ........ (3) An old 60's classic......F - U - F - U - C - F - U - C - K.........F**K OFF (4) Amonia........amonia...........amonia.........games versus Blackpool
  24. Read my sentence above from...."the simple fact............etc
  25. Scotty and Brownie - I couldn't agree more but the simple fact of the matter is that if Yorke had showed a little more common sense the whole sorry episode would probably not have happened.
