  1. Saw Jack White at the Empress Ballroom last night - fantastic. All female band (The Peacocks) who were superb, and he played stuff right through his back catalogue from The White Stripes, through the Raconteurs and Dead Weather to his solo stuff. Great venue too, looked to have been done up since last time I went. Great night all round!
  2. Went to see The Civil Wars at the Apollo last night - breathtakingly good. Did a fantastic version of 'Sour Times' by Portishead too. Great stuff.
  3. Got tickets to see Jack White at the Empress Ballroom, The Civil Wars at the Apollo and Orbital at 53 Degrees - looking forward to them all! Great new album by The XX out now too, just a shame that they've not yet announced any gigs in the North-West yet.
  4. The Look Of Love - ABC
  5. I though Avatar was poor when it came out - great effects but it's just a complete rip-off of Dances With Wolves set in space. The Dark Knight Rises is excellent though.
  6. Grinderman - No Pussy Blues
  7. Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes
  8. Oh hell yeah - cannot f*#king wait!
  9. Morrissey - Irish Blood, English Heart
  10. Another plus vote for Prometheus. As mentioned before there are some big plot holes but overall it's a good film. The 2 hours flew by, and on IMAX and 3D it looks incredible. If you're thinking it's going to be a horror film like Alien, or an all out action film like Aliens you might be disappointed - it tries to be a bit more cerebral than that and on the whole succeeds for me. 8/10
  11. Nice one, enjoy! Seen them about 4 times over 20-odd years and they've always been good. Was tempted but I've cleared June's schedule in anticipation of the 3rd coming on the 29th ....
  12. Jamie's Italian in Manchester, really good food and surprisingly decently priced. The building itself (the old Midland bank on King Street) has been renovated but sympathetically and without losing its character. They've even made a function room out of the vault! I hate to say it because the man himself can be a bit knobular - but it's "pukka".
  13. Couldn't agree more. Last night's episode was awesome - that good that I want to watch it again tonight! I've seen much worse films than that single episode, and the series as a whole is pretty much the best thing I've seen on TV. My wife has read the first 3-and-a-half books, and while they offer much more depth and there are some extra flourishes to the story it generally follows closely.
  14. New Order - World In Motion
  15. The Boy With The Thorn In His Side - The Smiths
  16. The Clash - The Guns Of Brixton
  17. The Drugs Don't Work - The Verve
  18. I've always followed Barca since they signed Maradona, and more so after they destroyed Man Utd 4-0 in the days of Stoichkov and Romario. After Ewood, the Camp Nou is the stadium I've been to most. After some fantastic recent seasons under Pep I'm a bit worried if Vilanova has what it takes to follow him. Time will tell I guess .... Also follow Werder Bremen as I have family in Germany who support them (been the very definition of mid-table mediocrity this year!). Never been a massive Italian football fan but favoured Sampdoria back in the days when Channel 4 had coverage and Vialli was the main man. Apart from seeing Barca play, have also been to see Bremen play Hertha Berlin at the Olympiastadion Berlin, have seen Mallorca play Levante, and would have seen Roma play a few years ago but their fans rioted in Milan the game before the one I was due to see and they were forced to play the game in Sicily!!
  19. The Doors - Not To Touch The Earth
  20. Blood Red Shoes - It's Getting Boring By The Sea
  21. Just got back from seeing Blood Red Shoes at Manchester Academy 2 - great gig! An awesome noise considering there's only two of them.... top stuff! Don't know if this'll work (I'm using Tapatalk on the phone) - pic:
