Stunned when I heard; very very sad news. The consummate model professional and the antithesis of some of the modern day primadonnas in the game. RIP.

Went to El Rincon de Rafa in Manchester a couple of weeks ago. A little piece of Spain just off Deansgate. Owned by a chap who used to play for Stockport though can't say I've ever heard of him. Football's loss is definitely food's gain - cracking stuff.

Between the boy and 'girl'? On the face of it, it's almost a sweet, coming of age friendship/relationship. When you consider that the 'girl' is obviously way more than 12 (and therefore much more worldly-wise than she appears), and that being a vampire she needs (to ensnare?) someone to provide fresh blood for her, the relationship and her motives become something a bit more unsettling. It hints that she's already done something similar at least once with the 'father' figure.

Just watched 'Let Me In' .... excellent stuff. Was hoping to catch the original Swedish version first but got the opportunity to watch the remake. If the original is a better movie it must be incredible.
-
It's on Sky from time to time - as as Reb says, it's seriously odd and very graphic.

If you preorder the limited edition you get a code for extra downloadable maps (I think!). Having come from BC2 the classes are a bit confusing so far. Assault with medipacks?! Like you I've had a few goes on the beta but an waiting for the full version before getting stuck in properly. Some are hammering it though - got killed by a rank 38 on Sunday night - how much have some of these people been playing it??!?
-
Also noticed last night that it's almost impossible to squad up using headsets on the beta. I find hardcore mode easier, because you're not having to look at what's happening in front of you PLUS at a small map in the corner of the screen. Yes you get ambushed sometimes, but equally you can ambush others. Much better for collecting those dogtags too!
-
Yep. The map they've chosen is a bit 'call-of-duty-ish' (not a good thing!), and it's not hardcore mode (which is by far the best way to play any FPS IMO) but other than that it bodes well. Provided they sort the glitch where I keep falling through the bloody ground!

Saw a trailer for 'Apollo 18' yesterday, looks very promising. Watched 'The Fighter' over the weekend, very good. Christian Bale is superb.

+1 - tremendous stuff (so far - just into series 3). And, although it's only 7 or 8 episodes long, Generation Kill is outstanding.

Another vote for the 5-4 v Palace. If my memory serves me correctly I'm sure we were 1-3 down after about an hour. Hendry scored the winner right at the death I think. Also remember a game v West Ham around the same time which I think was 5-4 as well? Sure we were 4-0 up at half time, and their fans had a sit down protest which stirred them to a Liam Brady inspired almost-comeback. Rovers 4 Man City 0 - when Garner broke the record, tempered somewhat by it being the same day as Hillsborough. The 4-2 v Derby in the play-off semi. Classic game. Last, either the 2-0 v Man Utd when Shearer scored twice, or the already much mentioned 4-3, Rio breakdown, Bentley hat-trick game.

Yep, I went the first week it opened. Thought it was top notch. They do a squid starter which is it excellent.

Just watched it too. Bobbins. The BBC series was far superior. Saw Daybreakers last weekend, was so-so. Notice The Crazies is on Sky Premier tonight so might give that a whirl. Thanks to Sky Atlantic my Sky+ box is filling up veeeery quickly.
-
Watched 'Green Zone' last night, a bit predictable but enjoyed it. Hoping to catch Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes effort tonight, or maybe The Book Of Eli. Trying to get through some of the stuff on my Sky+!

Looking forward to seeing True Grit - am also a big fan of the Coens, and with Empire giving this a glowing review and 5 stars it's a must-see for me. Also quite fancy 127 Hours. Finally managed to see Kick-Ass ..... great film, really enjoyed it.

Downloaded the demo, and it's OK. You can tell the people behind Burnout were involved as there's a few things been ripped from that series - particularly the 'boost' system. It did feel like it might get a bit same-y though? Think I'll wait for GT5 - if they ever manage to release it! Wasn't it originally supposed to be one of the PS3 launch titles?!

It sounds almost exactly like Modern Warfare 2! Not going to bother buying Black Ops until I've rented it and tried it first. Got caught out by the overhyped mess that was MW2, and won't be as foolish this time. Can't believe they managed to make such a total balls-up of the the first Modern Warfare, was soooo disappointing. P2P servers so it was basically a lag vs. lag game, terrible maps, hardly any difference between the guns, ridiculous perks (heartbeat sensor? akimbo?? lol), hackers everywhere and as for the killstreaks, jeez. Choose the correct killstreaks, get to 7 kills then hide and watch the kills rack up. Got very, very boring very, very quickly. Thank God BFBC2 came out when it did!

Just heard on Radio Lancs - gutted. An Ewood legend through and through, and a true member if the Rovers family. I grew up on tales of Ronnie Clayton and Bryan Douglas, and the both of them have been constants throughout my 28 years of going to Ewood. A sad day indeed, hope there's at least a minutes silence tomorrow.

The first Paranormal Activity is excellent - I wasn't expecting much but it really does give you the chills. Took me a while to get to sleep after! Like the best horror films it's more about what you don't see on screen ..... Watched 'Burn After Reading' at the weekend - while not in the same league as the genius of 'Fargo' or 'The Big Lebowski' it's still a solid Coen Brothers effort.

I'm sure when he was on at Blues last year Kevin Gallagher alluded to the most 'senior players' (likely Sutton and Sherwood?) being very unhappy with Roy's regime, particularly the fact that he had them training twice a day as was normal at Inter. As a result there was a revolt that led to Hodgson getting the sack, Kidd taking over and ultimately our relegation. ALthough signing sh*te like Ashley Ward, Nathan Blake, Davies, Dario Marcolin etc probably didn't help.

Where Are They Now?

AFC Darwen are playing Chorley tonight at the Anchor Ground in the Lancashire Challenge Trophy. A chance to see Matt Jansen and Garry Flitcroft in action! Might pop along .... -
Thought him and Face were miles better than Mr. T and Hannibal. The Mrs and I were saying that the cast should have been better - they really should have gone out and got: Hannibal - George Clooney; Face - Brad Pitt; Murdock - Jim Carrey; Mr. T was the only one we struggled with. Ving Rhames was about the best we could come up with! A good, 'leave the brain at home and watch the explosions' film though.

Great film. Is there going to be a sequel (District 10 perhaps?) Have just ordered 'When You're Strange' - a documentary I suppose rather than a film, but I'm looking forward to seeing it immensely.
