Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach

Don’t forget, “I don’t care about Venkys, they don’t care about me. Now let’s go home for our tea”. -
Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach

He’s dining out on one decent season at Barnsley. His star as clearly fallen since then, and I’d be interested to know the calibre of the clubs he said had made him offers. I don’t think we’d be talking about the top end of the Championship. Maybe we’ll get lucky and he’ll be like Holloway at Blackpool. Maybe we won’t. -

Given that many of them won’t be here next season, they probably do. -

See, I don't believe this for one minute. I just don't think he's that kind of guy. 🙂 come down off the fence and tell us what you really think of him 😉 -

He left us in the top 6, and now looks like he might keep Derby up. -
Realistic thoughts on the future
martonrover replied to Bbrovers2288's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I think that a relatively good season to this point (thanks Eustace and staff) has helped to quell any major show of discontent in the stadium. It would’ve kicked off at the Plymouth game, had it gone badly on the pitch. We are now at a crossroads, and if the current, routine second half of the season slump continues, followed by a poor start to next season, the atmosphere will become more sour again. I think more and more people will vote with their feet. I understand those with the attitude “I’ll support the team, come what may”, but I think many will say “enough is enough” at the end of this season. We are being mugged for our loyalty. -

Agreed, but other than that, @onlyonejackwalkerhas nailed it. Maybe we’ll get lucky but, for many reasons, this looks a poor appointment. -

Unfortunately, they are. They are like post nuclear war zombies, a product of apocalyptic ownership. -

Venky’s & Waggott Out Protest Ideas
martonrover replied to DuffsLeftPeg's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I don't see how your reply relates to my post. I made no reference to people staying away, just the general mentality of most of those who do still attend. You won't get people coming back simply to protest, unless they throw the gates open and make it free, (no chance). Many of those people will never return, whilst others may do so if the ownership finally changes hands. I still attend at the moment, but I'm getting close to the end of my tether with it all. It's like a toxic habit that I can't give up. -
Venky’s & Waggott Out Protest Ideas
martonrover replied to DuffsLeftPeg's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Most fans attending Ewood these days would have more sympathy with the snake waving idiots from yesterday than anyone wishing to protest. A total embarrassment yesterday , and I feel as distant from these idiots as I do the owners and their hired goons who run the show. -
Championship 24/25

There’s a brilliant Ian Curtis mural which train drivers have a great view of approaching Manchester Piccadilly, from the eastern side, (providing you are not approaching a red signal 🙂). -

Ismael was unemployed, so no compensation to his club,. He has also accepted a wage which was reportedly too small for higher calibre managers who we may have been able to tempt. I read several social media posts from fans of his previous clubs that he fell out with key players, and that he was stubborn in his methods of work, I don't think it was even a foul for the penalty, and even if was, it was borderline whether it was inside or outside the box. If you read my reply to another poster above, you will see I have clearly stated that I do NOT think it's a case of the players not playing for Ismael. I just feel / fear that he's a square peg in a round hole at Rovers. I hope he proves me wrong. The manager / head coach always takes ultimate responsibility for results, no matter how they comeabout. I've clearly touched a nerve, but I'm off to work in a bit, so I haven't got time to labour an argument with you. I think you know the problem with assurances given from Waggott and his mates. They are evidently worthless. Just ask JDT or Eustace. Just remember, we all want Rovers to succeed, even if we have different views. -

Honour works both ways, and there is little on offer from Venkys, Suhail and Waggott. -

and therein lies the problem. It won’t be his own squad, so the job is made almost impossible, other than to tread water at best. -

I certainly don’t think it’s a case of players not playing for Ismael, but small margins make a big difference in sport. I think they are unhappy with what’s happened and they are now having to work for someone with a very different approach. If you asked our players who they would rather be playing for yesterday, I think we all know the answer. -

It’s a fact that you are correct, but the goal against Norwich came out of nowhere. A combination of poor officiating and Norwich’s profligacy in front of goal were more responsible for us getting out of jail. I agree that it’s way too early to make a judgement on Ismael, but the omens are not good. -

martonrover replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I will have to disagree about that. It’s abnormal for a new manager to suffer such a shocking defeat in his second game. I do agree there are wider reasons, and it’s certainly only one factor. -

I think we've put a square peg in a round hole. He was 'cheap' and unemployed, and that's all our goons care about. I'm not saying Eustace was soft, far from it, but I remember the podcast last Summer with Szmodics and Allardyce. They were comparing JDT and Eustace. From what Szmodics was saying, Allardyce described JDT as a "coach" and Eustace as a "pragmatic manager" in terms of methods of work and dealing with players. Ismael has a reputation of rubbing players up the wrong way and being stubborn. Our squad clearly enjoyed working for Eustace and were no doubt gutted to see him go. I don't think that Ismael will be viewed in the same light. -
