  1. No, he's cheap, desperate and known to Gestede. That is the reasoning behind it. We are dredging the scrapheap.
  2. I can see us ending up with David Lowe, which would perfectly tee us up for more dumbing down this Summer.
  3. Ditto Wicksy. It’s crying out for Warnock until the end of the season, in my opinion. Zero chance, though.
  4. Exactly. Doing it for a brief period in the wake of a manager's departure, with a galvanised set of players, is one thing. Doing it medium to long term is totally different.
  5. Coyle was once fantastic at Burnley. Ismael’s recent stats are grim.
  6. ……and why we’re such a dysfunctional club.
  7. Oh dear ☹️ As per Karanka, his recent career does not make for pleasant reading.
  8. Busted flush. Avoid. I’m not generally a fan of bringing back a former player, but I’d much sooner have Duff. At least he’s young, hungry and on his way up.
  9. So surely, get someone in short term who would give us the best possible chance of achieving the impossible dream this season. No matter who is in charge, as you rightly say, the Summer will be a shit show if we don’t go up.
  10. All the above serve to firm up my view that a senior, high profile manager could be tempted until the end of the season, when the situation could be reviewed by both parties. Sadly, we probably won't take this route and will simply end up with someone cheap and desperate.
  11. The way I see it, all that matters at the moment are the next thirteen games, (and hopefully another three after that). The job from the Summer onwards will be dictated entirely by what happens between now and then. That’s why I think a short term appointment makes sense at this juncture. Then it can be reassessed accordingly.
  12. Disappointingly, no Grooby of Foghorn Leghorn.
  13. Amounts to the same thing. He ended up not taking the job.
  14. Yes, noticed that, and for Duff (on a smaller scale). However, given he reportedly turned WBA down because they wouldn’t allow him his own staff, I can see Boateng being a deterrent. Why do we make things so complicated?
  15. Eustace was appointed the day JDT officially left. Yes, one or two on X suggesting similar. However, I still don’t see why we need to interview a potential assistant manager. Normally, the new manager brings who he wants.
  16. SW : " David, we'd like to offer you the position on a permanent basis. The one condition is that George Boateng will be your assistant". DL : "Erm, yeah, ok then". I can't see many external candidates agreeing to that, other than the utterly desperate ones.
  17. A very rosy take on the workings of Blackburn Rovers in 2025. It's quite possibly going to come down to who will be the cheapest candidate to employ and how pushy his agent is.
  18. As others have said, I think it was Waggott.
  19. Agree to disagree. The number of applicants shouldn’t have any bearing on our process. We should already have had a clear idea who we wanted. We were clearly dithering before JDT was appointed, and his appointment was thanks to Broughton arriving and making a recommendation. The appointment of Eustace was, to be fair, more decisive.
  20. I understand the logic, Chaddy, but as others have said, a better run club would have a succession plan, meaning they would already know who the number one choice is, and go after them. Should the attempt to lure the number one choice be fruitless, you then move on to the number two choice, and so on. Our indecisive, drawn out methods are indicative of how poorly the club functions at boardroom level and upwards. Edit : See @arbitro post immediately above.
  21. Hughton = a busted flush whose career has essentially finished, and he’s 66. Yup, ticks all the boxes of a daft appointment, so expecting it to happen.
