  1. They sacked him when they were 5th ,8 points off 2nd in February. They finished the season 10th and many more points than 8 behind 2nd. Coberan who they loved didn't get them promoted either after Bruce.
  2. They ain't achievements. But people are saying things like "Ismaels awful record " and "did shit in his other jobs" .Results in all his jobs over here and at Besiktas were not awful.Im not assed about style of play.Judging him on results alone at his last 4 jobs, it isn't an awful record
  3. During the run from December to when he was sold Wharton was a shining light?I disagree our midfield was being overrun. He had played well but not outstanding up to that,he always had that class but it wasn't like he was dominating games regularly We will have to agree to disagree, I have said we might have got a few million more but not the 5 or 10 million some are making out.And the outrage that he is now being linked with £70 million moves when it's him proving himself in the prem that has him being strongly linked with big clubs
  4. Wharton was poor like the rest of the team in the main last season. So no I don't think another 6 months playing for a relegation threatened side and not winning many matches would have led to much more money being put down for him. The top clubs if they liked him would have been in at the price we sold him for in January. They had scouts watching him ,it wasn't just Palace who knew we needed money if those clubs believed he was a generational talent they would have paid the fee. They ain't going to be paying 5 or 10 million more 6 months down the Line
  5. They will do what they did last summer bring in older players on 1 year deals use our loans and sign 1 or 2 for an initial fee not exceeding £1 million. It's going to be interesting what they do with Brittain, Travis, Tronstad and Hyam(we have a year's option which we will activate) 4 players who would have interest from other clubs that the club can get a fee for. Let's be realistic they ain't signing new contracts here ,the club will have left them get into their final year if we don't sell them in the summer it will be Rothwell, Nyambe, Lenihen and Brereton all over again. If they decide to sell them the money will dissappear
  6. Nearly 100% sure you were calling Eustace a yes man when he came in last season. Ismael has been here for 2 games ffs.
  7. Iv said previously that I think he is worth more and I thought a lot more clubs would be in for him... And if he was being judged only on his technical ability then at the price we sold for Top clubs would have been in for him ahead of Palace. They all looked at him and only Palace came in. Just my opinion that clubs in the Premier league were unsure about parts of his game ,same as England as didn't get selected till under 19 and a year playing regular for us didn't even lead to an England under 21 call up I don't disagree that we shouldn't have sold him and it's a disgrace we had to sell him so early to keep the lights on.The part I disagree with is we would have had bids of many more millions if we waited until the summer. I agree he is better than Mainoo
  8. I agree he shouldn't have been sold in the January but his agents and the lad himself probably would have wanted to move up a level In the summer. We might have got £20 instead of 18 guaranteed as it would have been the same sort of clubs in for him.The top clubs could have bought him in January for the price Palace bought him for they weren't going to be coming in 6 months later bidding many millions more
  9. It isn't our job to find an upgrade on Pears, we ain't employed by the club to identify players. There are plenty of goalkeepers around that wouldn't make the errors Pears does.
  10. The comments are "anyone with 2 eyes can see how good he is".So why wasn't he being included for the national squads then? Facts are he was available for 18 million after playing a year of Championship football any of the big clubs could have bought him then. But they didn't so they where going to come in in the summer and pay many millions more. They wouldn't have
  11. Not from the championship over the years a handful of young players his age have moved up for a similar or higher fee. Il be clear I think he is top class and believe we should have had clubs fighting over him and paying more it's just my opinion that although plenty looked the bigger teams for sure felt he was missing something. Because if they saw what we saw they would have been in for him along with Palace in the January It's like comparisons with Scott he was England under 21 regular and am sure he captained them and a regular for Bristol two full seasons, Archie Gray had represented England from under 15 and then every age group including under 21s, he was also playing for Leeds who operate towards the top of the table and was getting mentioned in the media and talked up way more than Wharton. Wharton is a better player than both but Wharton had been playing a year of regular championship football but didn't get a call up which points to him not being as rated externally
  12. If there had been another 10 minutes left in the first half we would have scored again but once the teams went inside for half time Eustace steadied them and we had no clue how to get on top and create any decent chances Too early to judge Ismael yet but he definitely hasn't had a reaction from the player's. Going off Brittains interview the other week he was one that seemed happy with his arrival and then goes out and gives probably his worst performance of the season Our results had dropped off under Eustace aswell let's be fair ,we only stayed in the top 6 for so long due to the teams closest to us boro and West brom having poor results aswell If we were to somehow get 6 points in the next 2 games a chance we be back in the top 6 or within a point or two of it with the other fixtures the teams above us have ,well you would expect Coventry to beat Derby but West Brom and Bristol City have tougher fixtures on paper over the 2 games left before the international break .No confidence we will get 6 points We need Batth and Beck back.Has anything been said about a return date?
  13. Pears is absolutely woeful but Whalstedt beats him .At least we have seen Pears have some good games and make some good saves I'd love to think that we would be considering going in for Kaminski if Luton go down but it what will happen is Toth will go back to Hungary and we will sign another foreign goalkeeper for pennies and he will be number 2 to Pears Either Nixon said it or I read it on here but supposedly Benson is the one who finds the goalkeepers if there is any truth to that he should have no involvement next time or whoever did push for Whalstedt and Toth shouldn't be anywhere near finding another keeper for us.
  14. Archie gray was a couple of years younger than Wharton when he started playing for Leeds, and Leeds would have been at the top end of the division, plus his family history would have been taken into consideration. And if he barely played for the under 21s then it was more than Wharton who didn't get selected once. At the end of the day he was available for 18.5 if the likes of city Liverpool arsenal etc had any interest they would have been in for him then. We where struggling last season ,he had played well enough for 12 months ,I don't see what would have changed in the next 6 months with him playing at the same level for a struggling team that would have led to much more money being put on the table for him, and it would have been similar clubs in for him your palace's evertons etc
  15. That's not the argument I'm making though ,I agreed we shouldn't have sold him but there was obviously doubts about him(not from me) but from clubs higher up.if they thought he was a world class talent and capable of adapting to the Premier league as easily as he has done then there would have been a queue of clubs in for the price we sold him for Like I said he hadn't been included for the under 21s after a year playing regularly for us so this thought that clubs would have been willing to pay much more is fetched in my opinion . For some reason he wasn't as rated externally as he should have been
  16. And again you ignore his exclusion from the England under 21 set up. You made the comparison with Scott earlier, and I agreed Wharton is way more talented but fact remains Scott was an England under 21 regular even captaining them.Wharton was a year playing in the Championship for us and never made the squad. You are right I don't know how the transfer came about ,but we rejected the first bid from Palace and Palace weren't the only club who knew we needed money. If Wharton was as rated by prem teams that his talent deserved make no mistake other clubs would have been in for him at that price. You said earlier Chelsea wanted to wait until the summer, yeah at roughly the same price we sold him for or are you saying Chelsea would have paid many millions more for him in the summer but wouldn't pay the £18 in January. Why would they do that?
  17. Derby have never lost their first four matches under a new manager. We are shite away to promoted clubs. If we want to have any hope of finishing top 6 we really need 3 points from this one.
  18. England under 21s then?Tyler morton was a regular for them City....Arsenal....Liverpool...Chelsea....Spurs ....Villa...Brighton..etc ...etc could have bought him in January ahead of Palace. They didn't, Palace weren't privvy to some insider information that we were distressed sellers Enough there for me to believe its entirely plausible that he wasn't being rated as highly externally as his talent deserves
  19. I agree he is better than Scott and worth more I'm still not having that we would have got much more for him and am disgusted that we did sell him in January But he was available for a relative pittance and only Palace bit, it took him leaving here to even get England under 21 recognition so he just wasn't being as rated as he should have been ,it took a move for him to get the recognition he deserved
  20. Why wasn't there a queue in the January?I'm Basing my opinion on that and the media report that Newcastle and other clubs looked and had doubts over his physicallity. How does he erase those doubts by playing at the same level for us who were in shocking form? I'm not doubting the lad I think he is top class and was worth a lot more than we sold him for but like I said it was only Palace that agreed the low fee for him in January and I disagree that loads of clubs would have been willing to pay much more for him 6 months later
  21. How much more do you think we would have got for Wharton if we waited until the summer to sell him?(as for the lads own career he would have had to move on in the summer) Like you say we got rinsed but at the same time there wasn't a queue of teams in for him at that knockdown price in the January. I accept a few clubs that might have been interested couldn't sign him due to ffp constraints but not that many. His fee would have been paid over the length of his contract so I'm not having most clubs would have been in bother by putting 4 or 5 million on that years accounts. I think there was doubts over his body, physicallity and his ability to see out 90 minutes at Premier league level.Media speculation has it Newcastle considered him in the summer before the jan we sold him and those reservations led to them crossing him off their list. Unless we were operating at the top end of the table and competing/beating the better teams or playing against prem teams in the cups and competing with Wharton in form then I don't think we would have seen much more for him. The shame for me is we didn't get to enjoy him for as long as possible as he should have been kept to the summer but without exposure against better teams then I don't think we would have got much more for him,we might have got 20/22.5 guaranteed rather than the 18.5 guaranteed but it would have been clubs like Palace evertons etc bidding not the bigger teams without the test at premier league level, those bigger clubs could have bought him ahead of Palace in the January without ffp trouble if they appreciated him as a player like the majority of our fan base did.
  22. Do we really think the end is coming? Personally I think they will put the minimum money in again to keep the club ticking over and them in control when the transfer income runs out.
  23. He has to figure out how to get them to score a goal first they haven't scored a home goal since boxing day. We will win on Saturday
  24. Nixon definitely and I think Elliott have said 15% on whatever profit Palace make
  25. My team Pears Brittain. Carter Hyam. Ribiero Trav. Tronstad Dolan. Ohashi. Cantwell Gueye
