  1. Scott Wharton isnt fit and probably won't be fully match fit till Christmas hence the need for a left footed centre back preferably being able to play left back too
  2. I agree that they hold little interest in us, I have never argued that point. How could I?It's clear for all to see. We were obviously bought to give the Venky name exposure in Europe. And although I do not use it as an excuse for them , initially when they bought the club they were misled in my opinion. All the guff about leasing players and qualifying for Europe with a 5 million budget that seed was obviously planted in their heads by others, Mrs Desai didn't wake up one morning and decide all that. On Brererton and Gallagher being bought for a quick sale and to make profit ,I find that a stretch too.Brererton and Gallagher hardly started a match in their first two years at the club if that was the case then surely Mowbray would be gone by now? And like you said yourself last season regarding Ayala. You critizised the owners and the club for not putting the money up to secure the center half the club was crying out for when it appeared that he was heading to Saudi Arabia. The high cost deals which that were for Downing (first time) Ayala,Johnson, Holtby...those signings weren't made with a profit in mind. My only argument is the line we don't spend money when we clearly do.How that money is spent is another matter. On the state of the ground again I agree an utter disgrace but do the owners actually know about this?Or is it a case of the people on the ground, Waggott and Cheston etc trying to keep the costs down to make it appear that they are doing a better job than they have been doing. Just find it a stretch that the Venkys would agree to all those players to be kept on with extensions last year after the covid break but then won't shell out the few thousand it would take to give the place a general tidy up.
  3. Last season the club brought in 12 players a mixture of permanent, loans and free transfers including Pickering and finished 15th after one of the worst runs in recent history. In all of Mowbrays summers here he has brought in at least 6 in the summer window. We have sold Raya 3 leading to 5,Nuttall 500k and Armstrong for 15 which was only 2 week ago .
  4. And what about the likes of Armstrong, Brererton and Gallagher? The likes of Ayala,Holtby, Downing,Johnson? They were not contracted to bring those players to the club. They spend money just let it be spent stupidly
  5. Yeah because Mowbray decided to spend 7 million on Brererton and 5 Million on Gallagher. He changed his mind and decided to blame our young goalkeeper Raya for our poor defensive record. Add up all the signings Mowbray has made permanent signings, loan signings and free transfers then come back and tell me signings weren't made .
  6. Trybull has had his contract terminated.Hope we stay clear of trying to bring him in
  7. Without Elliots 11 assists and 7 goals we could have been right in the mix to go down.Without Harwood Bellis being brought in our defence would have been even worse than it was. It's not a long term solution granted, but when the club is generating hardly any income and we don't have much room to move in the transfer market what other solution is there. I would argue the majority of the younger loans we have brought in have been a success in the short term.I would also argue the free transfer signings the club have made in Holtby,Johnson,Roswell etc have been far more costly to the club and haven't worked out for the most part. The majority of the experienced loan signings haven't worked out at all.
  8. Sharpe said he doing a story tomorrow about a permanent striker deal. We have this every season. The club say different things to the media but the end result is players are brought in. Also Mowbray was only saying a week ago that no negotians over new deals yet Waggott was in the lounge at the weekend telling people that Lenihen is close to signing and Brererton not far off.So one of them is lieing.
  9. I agree with you.I am not defending the owners I am pointing out to others that the line "they don't spend money" isn't true And I will also say this people on here every summer are demanding that we sign players etc well the money has to come from somewhere? It's not coming from any income the club recieves. Up until 2 weeks ago the club had brought in about 5 million in transfer fees the last 4 years. We spend much more money on transfer fees and wages than the clubs who are generating similar income to ourselves.
  10. I agree with everything you say but they are talking about another defender being signed on loan presumably a left footed for when we do switch to 3 at the back. I think Carter is more than capable I just worry that if he is kept on he won't get enough minutes and will stifle his development. For me he has shown that he is capable but with the manager pressing ahead with bringing in loan defenders then it just doesn't instill me with confidence that Mowbray feels the same
  11. What you or I or Joe or whoever would do is pretty much irrelevant though. Its what Mowbray will do that matters and I'm not sure he would give Carter the minutes he perhaps would deserve at this time. Ayala and Lenihen will 100% be ahead of him, when Wharton comes back then him aswell .Mowbray will probably pick Costello at full back when he is fit.The Brighton lad won't be guaranteed a starting position
  12. Teams ain't spending money at this level on permanent deals so I don't think we would get very much for Nyambe in this current window, we may even get more for him in the long run if it goes to tribunal were it's standard for 20% sell on to be awarded as part of the deal. If we could get upwards of 2 million for Rothwell I would look at it but don't think we would get that much but who knows people might start to panic as we approach deadline
  13. Nothing wrong with it like I said I would keep him but will Mowbray give him the minutes to aid his development that I am unsure about and I think he would be better served playing every week if that is the case. Suppose it could be looked at again in January if he isn't getting enough minutes
  14. Talk of another defender coming in on loan and if like you say that we will be playing 3 at the back at times this season then surely the club will look to bring in a centre half/left back as we don't have a left footed option when we switch to a 3. I would keep Carter, he looks more than capable but don't think it will do anything for his development playing a hand full of minutes
  15. I would keep Carter myself but I can also see the benefits of Carter playing every single week if he was to go on loan. This guy from Brighton will be back up, we won't be guaranteeing him a starting place. Ayala and Lenihen will be Mowbrays preferred 2 and when Wharton Is fit that could put Carter as potentially fourth choice centre back and possibly third choice at right back when Costello Is fit as Tm likes to play him at full back even though I don't agree with that
  16. In hindsight Brewster turned out to be a poor signing but at the time he was signed he was a coveted player and Liverpool insisted a buy back Clause was put into his contract. They made a profit on Ramsdale who was another big buy. Wilders second season in the prem was a disaster but injuries to key players played it's part particularly O'Connell who was probably their most important player with the way they play . Terrible second season but what Wilder did at Sheffield United on the whole was exceptional and that shouldn't be forgotten about, prior to taking the Sheffield United he had done well
  17. We will get money for Nyambe regardless if he runs his deal down as it will go to tribunal. What will we get for Rothwell?I'd say it wouldn't be very much so probably best keeping for the season unless we were to get decent money
  18. I don't think a renaissance but if a Wilder had had the backing Mowbray has had the club wouldn't find itself in the position it is now . The late bowyer era we were heading and headed into a transfer embargo so they couldn't have spent in that time? When they turn off the taps it coincides with the end off the ffp cycle
  19. It was only 2 weeks ago that 15 million of that money was brought in. In the last 4 years we have sold Raya and Armstrong plus a few others for a few hundred grand each. How many players have we brought in in that time? Look at our wage bill compared to turnover? Clubs with similar income are not carrying the wage bill we are? If we spend this summer does that put us in an embargo next summer? I just can't get my head round why the owners would have signed off on a multitude of player signatures, agree to pay a significant transfer fees for Gallagher and Brererton and then are not bothered about potentially losing Brererton on a free? I am no fan of the owners but in terms of finance they have backed the current manager with competitive funds no doubt about that. Teams like Luton and Preston could only dream of having the same sort of money spent on their squad yet they finish ahead of us? The owners are a problem the biggest problem but the club has been terribly managed on and off the field under Mowbray and Waggotts watch. The contract situation is worrying but we can't put a blank piece of paper in front of the players and tell them to write down a number and we just agree to it . According to Waggott Lenihen and Brererton are close to new deals.Rothwell and Nyambe may want to leave due to footballing reasons, both in and out of the team under Mowbray and Nyambe in particular been thrown under the bus a few times by the manager. I would love new owners but I think it's more realistic them to strike lucky with a decent managerial appointment than them selling the club
  20. Mowbrays record in the market on more experienced has been poor for us in my opinion.I have no confidence the money will be spent well if it goes on experienced players. The players we are likely to be able to attract with the wages we can pay will still want decent enough money and 2 or 3 year deals to sign, we might get one good year out of them if we are lucky but then be stuck paying them for nothing when nobody will take them on on anywhere near the money we are paying them. It's also a question off FFP,if we spend this summer again does that put us in a threat of going into an embargo next summer? What manager would come here If we are? We have to accept the reality we are in and I agree wholeheartedly through the owners behaviour the majority of our fan base no longer go on and crowds have dropped below 10 thousand.Sponsorship down,on the telly two or three times a season. We are bringing In hardly any money and clubs with similar intake of income have no way near the wage bill we have With the resources we have every penny counts we ain't going up with Mowbray and with some of the other sides in this division I'm confident loan signings will be enough to keep us up,let a new man do the long term buys Like I said before I do think we will bring in a striker for a couple of million on deadline day but Mowbray will just play him as a wide striker anyway
  21. The managers contract situation isn't irrelevant, he has one season left and I will be extremely surprised if he is here next season.Letting him bring in permanent signings that a new manager may not want would be equally as short termism as using the loan market difference being a prospective new manager won't have the problem of trying to find loan signings new homes.Saying all that I do think we will sign a new striker before deadline who will end up competing with Gallagher and Brererton for a wide striker role whilst the lad from Leeds will be put in Dolan's position You have a point with the Armstrong sale and the money brought in but we would have been budgeting the last 3 or 4 years forecasting we would have brought in more than 20 odd million In player sales In that time. The Armstrong money covers Brereton and Gallagher and 1 or 2 others but I do believe in general it's underestimated on here how costly the free transfer signings we have made in that time have been
  22. How much do you think the budget should be? IL save my criticism of how much we spend or haven't spent until after the window. One thing I have to say I find odd is (,not talking about you specifically), why people are wanting Mowbray being allowed to spend more money on permanent signings when he is out of contract next season? And the same people want him gone?I could understand if they felt Mowbray was the man to take us to the next level but he clearly isn't. The Venkys certainly have to take some of the blame no doubt, it is under their watch and they allow these things to happen but this summer's budget is being dictated by the mistakes of the past few seasons were we have pissed away Money willy nilly on a raft of poor signings, giving long term deals to the wrong people and never selling players at the right time. All things that can be placed at Mowbrays and Waggotts door. FFP is playing a part in this aswell, they are getting harsher with some of the rules now and enforcing punishments. Not many clubs are making cash signings and yeah some teams moved early in the market and secured free transfer but for me only a few were any good and teams like Luton for example who have been quite active don't have the wage bill we have, have recently come up majority of their players were on league one wages they will have much more wiggle room than us as will most clubs. Teams with similar gates to us will have no way near as high a wage bill as us.Yeah we lost a load of players but that money needed to be reduced from our ridiculous wage bill. Every time Venkys have turned the taps off in the period we have been in the championship it is when the ffp cycle is coming to an end and we are either pushing the limit or over the limit.Even when Coyle was in charge we were not long out of a transfer embargo
  23. Leeds seemed to do alright out of loaning Ben White from Brighton. Never even heard of this centre half before today but Brighton paid a transfer fee to sign him, he played 28 games at senior level in the Dutch league last season so he may not be too bad. I understand people being angry at the signings we are making when they are nothing but short term options but for me this summer I think it is the way to go.I don't want Mowbray here anymore and don't want him being given the funds to bring people in on 2 or 3 year deals that a new manager might not fancy. Enough bodies will see us stay up ,there are more than 3 teams/squads worse than us and many managers not up to it too
  24. Last season Douglas and Trybull were brought in as experienced loans. They were useless Elliot and Harwood Bellis were good. We would all like experience, but any experienced Good player we would have to pay the majority of their wage
  25. He played 28 games in Holland last season Plus they paid 2.5 million to sign him
