  1. Been thinking about this and im wondering how offering a +1 year option in the clubs favour is a bad thing? We should give them only 3 year contracts?A 4 year deal and a 3+1 deal are the same thing from the players prospective. The only difference it makes is protection for the club if the player doesn't perform in their initial 2/3 years and the club doesn't want to keep them on. If Rothwell had signed a 3 year contract rather than a 2+1 he would still be heading for a free transfer in the summer.
  2. Buckley did get a four year deal as did Travis 3+1 years. 18 months ago Rothwell wasn't a regular. I get what you are saying but you also can't argue that the club have been burned lots of times since coming down ,by giving out long contracts that we have ended up having to pay off. Did you not complain like the rest of us when we paid Mulgrews wage for 2 years without him contributing?
  3. Buckley is under contract until June 2024 with the club holding an option of a further year. We also have a year option in Travis contract, have him protected until June 2024
  4. Nobody is paying 25 million+ for Brererton. West ham will pay 25+ million for Brererton to be Antonio's understudy?I don't believe that. Even if he was sold it would most very likely be another inexperienced player that would come in to replace him
  5. We played ok v Barnsley, our finishing was off. Huddersfield the pitch was like a swimming pool both teams created nothing of note. We were cruising in the Wigan game until Pears completely lost it. Both Cardiff and Hull we were very poor agreed, but a small defence can be made in the Cardiff game with it being BCD and last night the manager decided to be too clever rather than just replacing Travis with Davenport or Johnson . Fingers crossed we can get back on it Monday night
  6. I hope he does sign but he isn't enjoying it enough to have signed the offer on the table and If we don't go up then our offer is unlikely to change. He is s professional if he gets a better offer he will be off.
  7. Clear penalty FFS.Been shit so far.Get Gally off and Davenport or Johnson on and move Buckley further forward. We can't be as bad in the second half , the win is still there for the taking
  8. On what basis? If we don't go up its unlikely we will be improving the terms offered to him.Terms he has so far turned down
  9. If reports are correct he wanted O'Reilly so presumably a midfielder like that Rothwell will leave if no promotion
  10. Have no idea how much he would cost.Although O'Reilly is different to Styles, O' Reilly certainly isn't a tackling defensive midfielder so presumably Mowbray looking for a midfielder who can help in attack. Styles would definitely add to the squad and would be a decent replacement for Rothwell if he leaves at the end of the season and we are still a championship club.
  11. He is missing the Boro and Luton matches.
  12. Zeefuik won't be involved tonight according to Tm
  13. If the budget is minimal perhaps be better singing players for positions we don't have lots of options for? We will have Dolan, Khedra, Gallagher, Markanday, Hedges, and a striker if the rumours we are in for one are true all competing to play alongside Brererton. A goalscorer, centre midfielder, Centre back and sub goalkeeper should be a priority before adding another winger/wide forward imo.
  14. We should target Styles from Barnsley if O'Reilly heading elsewhere
  15. He has now tweeted that Rovers and Swansea have stepped up the chase for O'Riley Iv read that Swansea need to move players on before they can try bring him in .They lost a wage yesterday after Bidwell joined Coventry
  16. Maja has been out with a back injury and hardly played this season
  17. Well let's hope he isn't written off as League one and Conference standard like Brererton and Buckley
  18. I disagreed with your initial post as you suggested his record and signing is nothing to be excited about. The excitement comes from the fact he is highly rated, Spurs wanted to keep him and other clubs at this level wanted him and it is a permanent deal rather than a loan. Nobody on here has said he will tear up the championship
  19. And who is saying he will be the next Damien Duff or tear up the championship? People are quite rightly excited over the fact we have signed a young player that Spurs wanted to keep and other Championship clubs wanted to sign.
  20. He does it with every single player. The "excitement" comes from the fact we have signed a highly rated young player from a Premier League club, not on a loan but on a permanent deal. If Stoke or another championship club signed Markanday it would be " look at Stoke they sign young players from Premier League clubs on permanent deals but we live off loans" Nobody has said Markanday will definitely make it at this level but the it is an exciting signing
  21. Yeah but in that case I just think there wasn't enough time to get the permanent deal done as there was an extra 2 week for EFL clubs to do loan deals that season But we could do an obligation to buy for Healy or another player IF ffp is stopping us pay a decent fee in this window
  22. Rev you haven't seen this guy play have you? I'm not that excited by the link myself but iv not seen enough of the guy to make a proper judgement. Would it be that peculiar to find he had improved with age and experience since his time in England?
  23. We didn't Brererton initially came on loan with an obligation to buy in January
  24. And you should know by now we like to rubbish our signings without seeing them play. Its what we do.Go back and read when we first signed Brererton, or even just 12 month ago.
  25. How many times have you seen him play? Id rather someone younger but couldn't describe Healy as shite as haven't seen him enough.
