Yeah but we have a far better chance with Brererton not being sold. I don't think that amount will be offered anyway, but he will still have interest in the summer and will still fetch a sizeable fee..15-20 million. Unless the club are under threat of going under and a sale would be necessary to keep us going I don't see why we would want him sold.Let the owners keep footing the bill created by their mismanagement rather than selling our top scorer Talk of half his fee being reinvested just isn't going to happen, and whatever money we do have won't go on proven top end championship quality as we just don't pay the wages other teams do. Unless they give the go ahead to pay at least 25k a week then no chance Gayle or players like him end up here. If our max stays at 18-20k per week will struggle to get proven promotion quality. We sell Brererton the big transfer fee out of that will be a similar signing as to what Brererton was a younger player with growth potential. Nobody will pay 28 million for Brererton this window unless Newcastle get desperate

Been thinking about this and im wondering how offering a +1 year option in the clubs favour is a bad thing? We should give them only 3 year contracts?A 4 year deal and a 3+1 deal are the same thing from the players prospective.The only difference it makes is protection for the club if the player doesn't perform in their initial 2/3 years and the club doesn't want to keep them on. If Rothwell had signed a 3 year contract rather than a 2+1 he would still be heading for a free transfer in the summer.

Buckley did get a four year deal as did Travis 3+1 years. 18 months ago Rothwell wasn't a regular. I get what you are saying but you also can't argue that the club have been burned lots of times since coming down ,by giving out long contracts that we have ended up having to pay off. Buckley is under contract until June 2024 with the club holding an option of a further year. We also have a year option in Travis contract, have him protected until June 2024

Nobody is paying 25 million+ for Brererton. West ham will pay 25+ million for Brererton to be Antonio's understudy?I don't believe that. Even if he was sold it would most very likely be another inexperienced player that would come in to replace him

We played ok v Barnsley,our finishing was off. Huddersfield the pitch was like a swimming pool both teams created nothing of note. We were cruising in the Wigan game until Pears completely lost it. Both Cardiff and Hull we were very poor agreed, but a small defence can be made in the Cardiff game with it being BCD and last night the manager decided to be too clever rather than just replacing Travis with Davenport or Johnson . Fingers crossed we can get back on it Monday night

I hope he does sign but he isn't enjoying it enough to have signed the offer on the table and If we don't go up then our offer is unlikely to change. He is s professional if he gets a better offer he will be off.
