  1. Not difficult to comprehend just find it extremely sad anyone would dream of labelling us so soon In the season when we have nearly half a new team. Or liking posts that suggest our two hammerings were down to our opponents were down to 10 men despite being 3-0 up already in one of the games it finished 11v11. No big massive rants about Brereton either yesterday?Or maybe you want to criticize him again for the amount of free kicks he wins with his "diving"
  2. A recurring one?See I don't get why we are comparing this year's team with seasons gone by? We are playing a totally different game to what we have in previous years. Half the starting team is also different to previous seasons.Kaminski ,Ayala , Douglas, Trybull and Elliot.Add a much better looking Brereton and Holtby seemingly having found a position. Our style and the players are much much different so think it's way too early to say we struggle to break teams down .I can't see how this team ,squad and tactics can be compared in anyway with previous seasons.
  3. Yes but they ain't getting hammered every week. I responded to a post where it was said 2 of our 3 hammerings were against teams down to 10 men. I just pointed out we were already 3-0 up in one of those games prior to the sending off and the sending off had nothing to do with the victory. In response to you we deserved to lose the game against Watford, but Foster did have to make a number of saves,we created plenty of chances and missed a penalty. They were also fortunate to keep 11 men on
  4. In that case Coventry and Wycombe should be getting hammered every week.Add Derby to it aswell.Maybe leave the season progress a little and give the new players a chance to settle in before labelling us flat track bullies.
  5. We were 3-0 up already against Wycombe before any sending off. Both sendings off were when we had players running through on goal. Should have been a sending off In the Watford game also when Armstrong running through, just tells me teams are struggling to defend against us and have to resort to fouling .
  6. I'm not giving Mowbray a free pass as he could have changed it around tactically but at the same time I appreciate the players that were out make a big difference.Especially the midfield 3.And if other clubs had 13 out,5 or 6 starters I would expect them to struggle aswell. I also think its unfair to criticize Mowbray for not including Douglas and Trybull, both had been signed 24 hours before and both had 1 competitive game between the 2 of them this season. Also you and others keep saying we have only beaten the dross of the division, which is true but I haven't seen those teams being hammered too many times like we have done to them. Some are now calling Reading automatic promotion candidates, yet the majority of their victory's have been against the weaker sides In the division
  7. It's too early to judge and like you say our big wins have come against the weaker teams. The one thing I take issue with is people adding the Forest game when analysing our season so far.We had 13 players unavailable,5 or 6 of those could be considered starting players. When I seen the side put out pre match I was not confident one bit we would win the match. Cardiff, we were poor no arguments from me in that game but still we had the most clear cut chances and it was criminal that Gallagher missed that chance from 2 yards out. We conceded 6 in 2 matches against relegated sides in Bournemouth and Watford.2 teams who have far superior squads than most the division and we did not have what you would consider our first choice defences in both games. The only other goal we have conceded is a deflected shot against Nottingham Forest. There is a lot more poorer teams in this division than good. The talk of us being in contention for automatic by some I find far fetched, but on the evidence so far I do think we will be amongst the top 6
  8. I think the defence will be much improved with the arrivals of Kaminski, Ayala and Douglas and hopefully Trybull can give a better shield in front of them. We have conceded 7 goals so far 3 each coming away at Bournemouth and Watford who are both blessed with much better attacking talent than most the division, and conceded a deflected shot v Forest. Still the style Mowbray is implementing will leave us open at the back,IF we can start being a little more clinical in front of goal then we will have too much for most teams.
  9. The two games we have failed to create chances were against Cardiff and Forest. Against Cardiff the conditions were atrocious and against Forest missing half a squad, and at least 5 of those we would have to consider starting players. It's still too early to judge how we will fare this season but I don't see many teams being able to cope with our attacking players
  10. He has played well in front of a crowd though. Not here granted but he did do it at Forest when Warburton was in charge
  11. He was on paternity leave, he returned and played against Watford. So Available today
  12. For me Watford have far better players than us and will be going for automatic. We will be fighting for top 6 but won't go near the automatics it's as simple as that .We perform as we did v Watford we will beat Coventry. You didn't say goal threat last week you said he doesn't do anything in threatening areas I then gave 2 examples of how his play led to two goals ,him hitting the post for Dolan to put away and his driving run before playing Rothwell through for an assist which led to another goal.Of course he needs to start scoring goals to come anywhere close to justifying a 7 million fee, but THIS season he is contributing and adding value to the sid
  13. I don't expect to win at places like Watford and Bournemouth currently no because they have much better players all round than we have.I expect those to be competing for automatic, where as we are not at that level we won't be near automatic spots. I do expect us to try and compete though which I think we did.I think Watford deserved to win the match on Wednesday night but at the same time I'm not blind to the fact we created more than enough chances to pick something up and I don't think Mowbray is at fault for a mixture of poor finishing and top goalkeeping. I don't think if we had gone defensive and/or doubled up on Sarr that would have led to us getting a result, and like I said in a previous post I also don't think starting Douglas would have either. In my opinion if we perform going forward as we did against Bournemouth and Watford we will beat a lot of teams in this division, our opponents won't have the same class to capitalise on our errors.
  14. Simple question do you think if we played defensive or doubled up on Sarr we would have got something at Watford?I don't. And whatever you and others say we created more than enough chances in both the Watford and Bournemouth games to consider ourselves extremely unlucky to have come away pointless.I am a believer that over the course of the season these things even out,we will play a lot worse than we did in those two games and come away with a result. Also people saying disgrace that Douglas didn't start. The man has had hardly any football and has a history of injuries and we already loaned one full back with historic injury issues in Cunningham who ended up out for a season. As good a player as Douglas is in no way do his attributes lend to getting the better of Sarr. I'm still waiting on a response from you over what you said about Brereton last week, how he has done nothing in attacking area's.I pointed out he hit the post that led to a goal and set Rothwell away for an assist. Both examples of threatening play. Do you still think it's a "myth" that some fans have something against Brereton? The guy had a good match other night, scored a good goal and won countless free kicks.Instead of deserved praise one poster starts giving him shit over his "dives" when yeah he might have gone to ground easy(what player doesn't these days) but they were all fouls. We have not played our full strength 11 this season and I think it is ridiculous people judging how well or how badly we will do this season.3 players I expect to play an important part in our season have been here 7 days!
  15. A raft of fans will eagerly point out that they were in a higher league than us last season . They were in a higher league than us last season and they have squads that cost absolute millions more than us.Sarr , Pedro, Capoue, Deeney, Grey...these players are experienced, many of them internationals and cost massive transfer fees. For a man who spends most his time moaning on here that the Venkys don't spend enough in the transfer market am suprised you think our cheap squad should be going to places like Watford and Bournemouth and picking anything up.I don't care what you say in terms of transfer spend it is David V Goliath. We went to Watford and had a go and we lost the match.I genuinely do not believe we would have got anything either if we sat back and many times on here last year people whining that Mowbray is too negative.
  16. Ffs Douglas will be first choice left back the man has had hardly any football and has history with injuries. And look as good a signing as I think Barry Douglas is I don't believe he has the tools in his locker to compete with a player such as Sarr, his attributes don't lend to it. Elliot was not lost last night he had spells where he looked good and a few spells out of the game, again should be judged after a few games but early signs encouraging in my opinion
  17. It's not clutching how can you judge how we will do this season when we have played 6 games and haven't even put our best side out and Forest didn't have more players out than us.Elliot , Douglas and Trybull have been at the club a week and I'm willing to put good money down that those 3 will start more often than not this season.Dack to come back. Let's revisit this conversation when we have played 12-15 games see were we are in the table then
  18. And we were well below full strength in that match.Half a team missing
  19. He has just brought in 3 players that will improve the starting 11 add Kaminski and Ayala that is nearly half the team improved in one window
  20. Brereton has played well in half our matches, the two victory's and last night, he was ok against Bournemouth and he was shit against Forest and Cardiff along with the rest of the team. How many free kicks does he win?Scored last night. He is coming along ok THIS season Douglas and Trybull yet to start, Rothwell to come back and then Dack.People are talking like the season is over already...not referring to you btw
  21. As much as we say nothing in the championship this year, Watford, Bournemouth and Norwich kept the majority of their Premier league squads so on paper realistically 2 of those teams should be in the automatic spots. Watford last night Sarr 25 million rated and is a premier league player ,Pedro looks a player, can bring Copoue off the bench, Deeney and Grey in their squad. Bournemouth Josh King ,Brooks,Cook etc etc Automatic spots never realistic barring a miracle but the play offs are still attainable we had 2 poor performances this season v Forest and Cardiff.Half a team wasn't available against Forest. The people who are talking like we should be going to Watford and Bournemouth and winning are the same people who say every week how nearly every player we have is crap. If we perform as we did last night we will beat Coventry imo.
  22. I remember a number of posters including myself bemoaning the fact Mowbray was too negative and wasn't letting the team attack teams last year and the season before. Look I don't know how we will fare this season but losses against Watford and Bournemouth ain't making me feel we will be close to relegation. We were very unlucky not to come away with at least a point at Bournemouth and altho we undoubtedly deserved to lose last night we created a load of chances and but for a mixture of poor finishing and good goalkeeping we would have had more than the 1 goal. We broke through Watford on a number of occasions so is there defence shit aswell?Sarr and Pedro are playing below their level, even if we had gone defensive or doubled up on Sarr still think he has the ability to break us down along with most teams in the championship. Think if we play a similar attacking game against poorer opposition that don't have premier league squads we will win more often than not this season
  23. Yeah fair enough we struggled to create in our last two home games, and I appreciate what I say next will just look like I am making excuses about our start and for TM(not his biggest fan either) but the conditions in the Cardiff game were absolutely terrible and altho we didn't create many chances, we had a couple that should have been put away. In the Forest game we had a number of players unavailable and when I seen the team and bench pre match I thought we would struggle. It's too early to judge, I do believe the manager has recruited well this summer(for once) and a front 6 from Rothwell, Trybull,Holtby,Johnson,Dack, Armstrong,Elliot , Brereton and Dolan will be good enough to break teams down when they come and sit against us imo but it won't be an overnight thing, I expect us to improve as the season goes on.
