  1. Villa close to signing Watkins, good player but 28 million for someone who has never played higher than the championship.Silly money and everything that is wrong with the game. Wonder if this signing will put an end to their interest in Josh King.
  2. This is a loan deal I would be against.United would want him playing, I doubt very much he would be available to buy at the end of the deal as is rated at United and we have enough young midfielders ourselves in Buckley, Davenport, Travis etc.
  3. For what it's worth Nixon reporting that Mulgrew to Fleetwood is close
  4. Oh my god .Then why agree a fee for a centre half in Kipre? Also find it hard to believe that Mowbray sat down and discussed his transfer plans with a player we haven't even agreed a fee for. How can he be happy with what he has at centre half when we don't have Tosin anymore who started every week and is looking to move Mulgrew on and is open to letting Williams leave. Sorry but no way on earth is he not looking for a centre back
  5. Yes that is an option I could agree with. We have paid off loads of contracts or had players stay and hardly play on lucrative contracts I would much prefer our younger players be given the chance than sign players who realistically won't take us up a level and get us into that top 6. I'm open to loans if they are of high quality and can take us up a level.
  6. How much was he on a week? They signed him for big money did they not?
  7. You have a point about giving our own young players a chance rather than loaning in others. My argument is Mowbray had a decent enough budget last season HE chose to buy Gallagher with it and bring in Johnson,Downing, and Holtby who might have been free in terms of a transfer fee but they would have got significant signing on fees to make up the difference in a reduction in wages so he had only a little bit of money to play with in defence so chose to spend it on a higher quality loan rather than paying a million for a permanent signing ,a million quid gets you nothing these days unless you have an excellent recruitment team or get lucky.Chances are if we had of made a permanent signing for that money last season we would all be debating now why did we buy him and who are we going to buy to replace him. Now it sounds like we don't have much money to spend again and what we have should be spent on the first 11 centre half and left back and I wouldn't be against paying the wages of someone like Mawson a decent defender for a year rather than buying someone and giving them a 2 or 3 year deal when we know deep down isn't the quality to get us up or push us up another level.Like Sarr and Lyndsey are ok but are they really the players that we all think will push us up to the level were we want to be?
  8. I don't think he should be still manager. I also don't think Venkys are good owners and we are not a priority to them but they have provided the manager with a competitive budget the last 3 seasons.
  9. Bowyer was under a transfer embargo and brought in Duffy who became a regular fixture, our budgets only stretch so far so yeah I do think the manager's neglected the defence and concentrated on attack. Don't see why Venkys would be against defensive signings when the club made nice money selling defenders since they bought us
  10. The majority of our budget last year should have been spent on goalkeeper and centre half but The manager decided to spend it on Gallagher. We can debate all day about Venkys being billionaires etc and should throw endless amounts of money at us but the reality is they haven't done that and won't do that. The manager has to work to a budget and in my opinion since our return to the championship his budget has been competitive. He has made some good signings Dack and Armstrong bargains but the big money he has wasted
  11. Because the manager decided to spend his budget on the attack and midfield. His budget wouldn't stretch to signing a player of Tosins quality. The manager wanted Gallagher and spent the majority of his budget on that so spent the million plus on Tosin rather than bringing in an inferior player for the same money on 2 or 3 year deal
  12. 1 million gets you nothing these days tho.Might pick up a bargain for that but wouldnt have faith in our lot finding them. We could have bought someone last season for a million quid and we would most likely be debating which defender we would be signing to replace that player and him still on a contract for another couple of years. Like I said I wouldn't favour loan deals in the main but for the right player that would undoubtedly improve our first 11 then I would think a signing like that would give us a better chance of promotion rather than a Sarr or Lyndsay on permanent deals. In my opinion you are smoking too strong a strain if you really believe that about Venkys not authorising defensive signings. Since being here Jones,Samba,Dann,Hanley,Duffy have brought in significant money so that just wouldn't make any sense. We have had poor managers who used the money badly spending on the wrong players and wrong positions
  13. We don't know that we weren't enquiring/bidding for other players though do we? If the budget is as limited as many suggest then we would be hard pressed to find a player as good as Kipre.I know we desperately need new players but they need to be the best we can afford not just signing someone because they are cheap and available
  14. I didn't want Brunt either but wouldn't be surprised if Mowbray did have a chat with him about a move here
  15. If they did go the director of football route they would probably appoint that clown Shebby Singh
  16. Why? What is so odd about two teams agreeing a fee for a player, and the player deciding he wanted to play at a higher level so turned us down . He wasn't West Bromwich first choice, he said in his interview that he had spoken to the sporting director of West brom weeks before. We stuck in there to see if West Brom signed their favoured target leaving us to complete the Kipre deal.
  17. City did not let Tosin come here for nothing. Why do you make out that we haven't spent money since back in the championship? Gallagher, Brereton big transfer fees, It would have taken a nice few pound to bring in Johnson , Downing and in particular Holtby ,Tosin loan fee and wages Armstrong, Davenport etc etc. We also gave out a load of new contracts when we got promoted from league 1. In that time one outgoing of a significant player in Raya for 3 million. Also don't get why you are so against loan deals?.In the main I would prefer permanent signings but for example if we could get Tosin back for a year or sign Naby Sarr permanent on a 2 year deal which one of those do you think would give us a better chance of making the top 6 and possibly getting promoted next season?Tosin for me all day long Mawson just gone Bristol City for the year we would have a much better chance of getting top 6 with a years loan for a player of his ilk rather than signing cheap journey men just because we can get them permanently. Don't come back saying we don't know what we paid for Tosin, I know we don't but we do know City don't just give their players out on loan for nothing and it was reported we paid a million loan fee and contributed to his 25k a week wage
  18. Yeah joined Bristol City.I just seen Mowbray leaving bargain booze on livesey with a 6 pack of super strong lager and a large bottle of whisky
  19. Yet we reportedly paid a million pound loan fee last year for Tosin? The club is a joke when it comes to recruitment but them pretending to have money by putting bids in for players they know they won't get is just nonsense in my opinion. 900k is hardly a fortune considering we paid a 5 million fee and 7 million fee for two players
  20. Mowbray gutted to lose out to Bristol City in the race for Chris Brunt
  21. Of course we could sell him, my point was he is under contract till 2022, as the club have the option of a further 12 months on his contract. Sure you won't mind anyway you called it as a terrible signing when he was bought.Hopefully Buckley will prove you wrong also
  22. Dack here till 2022 at least we have a years option on his deal
