I enjoy the new style as I got beyond bored with the sideways and backwards passing from seasons gone by and I do think attacking is playing to our strengths and when he tried to play a more defensive game results were inconsistent aswell. Although I thought on paper our recruitment was good in the summer, he should have brought in a left back with similar attributes to Nyambe and Nyambe should start every game he is available.Douglas has been poor so far and doesn't have the engine to get back when caught up the field. I don't think we are far away though and I wouldn't be thinking of sacking Mowbray yet.

Mate all the team's haven't even played each other once ,some teams are still finding their way.No need for surges at this point as most teams are being inconsistent, Bristol beat us then go away to Rotherham and lose. A few week ago we had dropped down the table ,some on here were talking about relegation as a possibility we then went on an unbeaten run and were one win away from being in the top 6. Our next 5 are all winnable. As for not beating any of the top 6 above us it's obviously true but from watching the games we have competed well in the majority of them,Reading and Swansea being the exceptions.Im confident wins will come against the teams above us. Just think talk of the manager being sacked when only 6 points away is too much, fair enough if we were showing nothing in our matches.I would have sacked him last season as I didn't see any progress but I do now and he should be given the next 5 games imo and see where we are then leading into the January window
-
There are 18 games gone all the team's above us we have to play at least once again and the majority of them at home. Those teams have to play eachother aswell. 6 points at this stage of the season is nothing, one good week of 9 points that would potentially put us in the promotion places. It wouldn't need a surge to make up 6 points between now and the end of the season.I also think it won't take as many points to finish in the top 6 this year as it has in previous years.
-
The previous 2 years I may have agreed with you but we have played well in the majority of our games this season. 6 points off after playing 5 of the top 7 away from home.I haven't checked it out but I will be very surprised if the teams above us have had as tough of fixtures. And like I said the next 5 fixtures are favourable if we don't pick up a decent points return then I would look to change manager. I wanted him gone last season but my opinion is we are playing a lot better now and have a squad capable of challenging ,a squad Mowbray built.
-
That's fair enough that performances are immaterial to you but not everyone is of the same opinion. Im of the thinking we haven't looked anywhere near as good as we do this season throughout Mowbray's tenure. Im also of the belief you keep putting in good performances then results will come and it will even itself out eventually, we were fortunate to take 6 points from Millwall and Barnsley. We have had 3 very tough away games and it is very disappointing that we didn't pick up more points, but yet I look at the league table after gaining only 1 point from the last 3 matches and after playing 5 of the top 7 away from home and we are still only 6 points off the top 6. You rightly go on about the importance and quality of Dack so presumably you think we will improve when he is back in the side? Other teams have injuries too granted and Im not using injuries as an excuse we are where we are but it's only 6 points off top 6 with a more favourable run of games leading in to January. If we ain't collecting points in those fixtures then yes I would look to change it.
-
Im not contradicting myself, at the end of the day it's a results buisness.Im of the opinion that performances on a whole have been better than previous seasons. I'm also practical enough to appreciate we brought in a few players in the summer and have changed the style of play these things take time to develop and I'm confident we will soon start getting results. No offence but you were moaning all summer that you didn't see enough goals In the squad and here we are amongst the top goalscorers in the division. Its 6 points.6 points is nothing in this division.Wins will come against teams higher up I'm confident of that.I fancy us to beat Stoke.A point away at Brentford isn't a bad result. The point at Luton also not a terrible result and we beat Millwall who some on here were tipping to be in the mix for top 6. The next 5 games our all winnable I expect any the very least 11 points.
-
We are 6 points off for Christ sake. I'm no big Mowbray lover and think we could do a lot better than him but some are acting like the season is over.Yes sitting 12th currently but one good week in this division abd the table looks a lot better. 6 points from the next two and we are guaranteed to move up at least one position.Id give him the next 5 games and see where we are at then.If still being inconsistent with results and it looks like we are set for another mid table finish then I'd be hoping the owners would look to change it. Agreed results need to be a lot better but we are competing ok and look better than previous seasons.

We don't know what Johnson is doing ,maybe he is working one on one with players? Brereton has improved as have others. Johnson has said he has no interest in being a first team manager. He must be happy doing whatever it is he is doing though haven't heard any rumours of him moving on -

Johnson has said he has no interest in becoming a senior team manager. And come on Mowbray has plenty of faults as a manager but that last statement by you is just nonsense and questions his integrity, you are basing that off nothing -

I agree we should be targetting a win today at home against a good but beatable side. 5 points off having played 5 of the toughest away games suggests to me we are challenging for the top 6.Home results going to be key to getting there though -
On a number of occasions we had the ball in dangerous areas only for the player with the ball to take the wrong option. They won one Nil but we had 22 shots at goal 8 on target, we had enough of the ball in dangerous areas as the stats show, it is not Tony's fault when a player mis hits a pass or takes a speculative shot when team mates are in better positions. Will agree with the plan b part of your post but the post you quoted I was debating whether he had us set up right, and I think he had us set up fine we played well in the first 60 minute, we had possession in the final third only Elliot and Rothwell out of our attacking players were on it the rest very poor.
-
I would say Armstrong had a very decent chance when Elliot put him through. And Elliots shot that was blocked by Gallagher was another good chance. And granted it was from a set piece but Ayala should have been getting that header on target. Rothwell and Elliot aside pure attacking players had an off night. Will agree with Ewood Ace comments about Elliot switching position throughout our matches. He plays best on the right and should be kept there
-
So Mowbray should have dropped Armstrong last night?Holtby should have been left out? Those were the main 2 who let us down last night. Gallagher had performed well enough of late to be included, he should have been brought off for Dolan though. Mowbray set us up fine last night the stats don't lie,our attacking players where off form along with Holtby.
-
I think we could do a lot better than Mowbray but we were the better team for the first hour so don't agree he didn't set us up right. We got into a number of promising positions only for the PLAYERS to take the wrong option. We had more possession, more corners, more shots, more shots on target. Mowbray has a lot of faults but he can't be blamed for our players under hitting passes in promising positions or other players taking shots on when a team mate Is in a better and more dangerous position. Il agree the subs were not good and did nothing for us but Mowbray set us up ok as the statistics show
-
How are the team approaching those away games with such an inferiority complex, with the exception of the Swansea game we have competed well in all those matches.Created plenty of chances and could and probably should have had more points in them. Not seen the team go away this year looking for a point we have attacked in most those games. I obviously would have liked more points from them but my point is those tough away games are out of the way for us and we are still only 5 points off. Have the other top 6 hopefuls had as tough away fixtures as we have had so far? Don't think they have.
-
In my opinion we haven't had a squad worthy of finishing in the top 6 until this season. As things stand we are one of the teams competing to be in the top 6.We have the majority of the better sides in the division already played, granted the results in those games have been poor but 5 of the top 6 have to come to Ewood yet. Last night's result was poor but it was on the back of a 7 game unbeaten run.Norwich is a tough match but feel we can get 6 points out of the next two matches. There is more reason to be upbeat rather than downhearted on the evidence so far

Yeah forgot them to be fair, they will be fighting for it too -
Who has said we will every game when Dack and Travis are back? Are you suggesting those two players wouldn't improve most championship sides including us? We are 5 points off having played some really tough away games.Seems like half the board are just waiting for an opportunity to moan.We are doing ok nobody can argue that.

Its true we need to tighten up.Im not suggesting top 6 is a given but feel we have shown enough so far to be confident we will be in contention. In my opinion, the three relegated sides will be in the top 6 and then any 3 from ourselves, Swansea, Cardiff, Brentford and Bristol City and possibly Middlesbrough. I think Reading will fall away -

Must have missed Buckley creating chances against QPR. Buckley has the technique to create chances, I would have him on set pieces when crossing it into the box. -

On paper Douglas wasn't a terrible signing,he has done it in the championship and got promoted twice. No arguments from me that he has been woeful since with us but il give him some more time than the half a dozen games he has started before I label him a terrible signing.
