Transfer Window - Success or Failure
islander200 replied to roversfan99's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I know where your coming from but do you not think since Mowbray has been here they have backed him a little? The signs are more positive, Waggot being brought in,a bit of money being spent and tying down our better players to longer contracts. I mean pre Mowbray I can almost guarantee that Lenihan would have been sold this summer for a fraction of his market value. Obviously I was as dissapointed as anyone that no more perm signings and was angry yesterday but after sleeping on it we weren't the only club to fail to bring players in yesterday. Boro who got 20 million for Traore and 15 million for Gibson failed to bring in any of their targets. I don't believe Mowbray would have wasted his or our time bidding 1 or 2 million for the likes of Brereton and Freeman so the 4 or 5 million must be there -
Yeah wells wouldn't be on my list

I presume they are just suggestions of some we could go for, I doubt very much he is suggesting we will sign all of them

Transfer Window - Success or Failure

Hopefully just working on a loan deal or something.Sure TM will say something about our transfer activity or lack of it tomorrow. What I do find odd is absolutely no mention of deadline day on the Twitter feed and not responding to any one who tweeted about it both yesterday and today. -
Maybe it didn't go through then but it was all over Ssn when Vydra was on his way to Burnley that Wells would be going on loan to Derby, and the loan window still open. Do they really need him tho, how are they getting away with having so many players on decent wages,Ffp my arse

Do you know why there wasn't a pre match presser today Chaddy? Whoever the itk guy is who was giving you info must have been on the wind up not a lot he said came true -
Cheers. It's good to see a few that have come through our ranks establishing themselves as regulars in the first team.Raya,Nyambe and Lenihan have all done well. Hopefully Travis can play a part this season and Wharton and Platt return from their loan spells and are involved with us next season.

He went the day Vydra joined Burnley unless it broke down?
-
Wells joined Derby I think
-
Bayes didn't say and Sharpe is off work for the day so can't pester him on Twitter for an answer
-
We don't have much on the bench in terms of an attacking threat to be fair, agree with you he won't be ready to start a lot of matches and his injury record is a concern. But being 1-0 down with 20 minutes to go id rather have a player with Chapmans attributes to call upon than not
-
I presume it's because the permanent window has been shut earlier and there was most likely clubs who voted against the change,so was put in to appease them. Closing the window before the season starts (prem) is good in theory but implementing it in a world cup year was a bit stupid in my opinion.
-
Bayes said we won't be hearing from the manager today, no pre match presser
-
What do you think of Butterworth Parson?A chance of making it?
-
I'm surprised we haven't heard anything from Mowbray. Was there no pre match presser this week?
-
In Maddisons case they already have a replacement in.They brought 16 players in this summer. The chairman has admitted he will be moving on
-
Most deals are structured that way thought. Not many transfers are paid all up front
-
If they sign Bolaise on loan he won't be in the squad I suspect
-
Exactly this and don't Waggot and Mowbray have a close working relationship. I know not everyone is a fan of Nixon and I certainly take everything he says with a shovel of salt but he is making out that Venkys authorised further funds so maybe with extra funding we changed tact and looked for a higher calibre and more expensive acquisitions but ran out of time. We can only wait and see what Mowbray says about it. Would have thought we would have heard something by now tho
-
Mowbray isn't stupid though he would have known the likes of Freeman (qpr star man last season) and brereton a promising young player would cost 4mill + in today's market do you think he would have wasted his time bidding for them if we only had 1 million or 2 million to spend? We are all gutted no permanent signings came in but Mowbray has stated many times there is money to spend. He has been nothing but honest since he got here

It's the buisness done before that put the breaks on any spending. As much as I'm thankful that the arrival of Shabby Singh brought an end to Steve keans reign, we wasted ridiculous amounts of money in the market offering huge contract to has beens and Portuguese youngsters -
Whoever is brought in on loan i hope it's not a case of waiting till deadline day. Hopefully some news next week we need a bit of quality in key areas
-
Anyone any idea what time Mowbray is doing his presser? Will be interesting what the big man has to say about the window
-
Just my opinion but would rather someone younger brought in.Would imagine Martin is on 20k plus a week added to the fact his attitude is questionable I wouldn't be keen on the deal. Martin has been available 2 summers now and he has chosen to stick around l,collect his wage and not play
-
Martin would be a good signing but would he settle for coming on in the last half hour or when Graham is out.Il be honest they are of a similar standing if we do have 4 mill to spend I'd rather it be kept for someone younger who can develop and take over the reins from Graham next season and beyond. Martin's attitude is questionable too refused to play at Fulham when on loan as he wanted to go back to Derby when McLaren was re-appointed. Last season he preffered to pick up his wage and sit on the sidelines rather than go out on loan when Sunderland and a couple of other teams made offers
