  1. If it’s anything like our marketing team they’ll just “pull a Caddis”...
  2. Yeah, cheers, just seen a couple of screen shots on Twitter but there is nothing to base that on.
  3. Amen brother. Worst innovation in football. Self-fulfilling in the extreme.
  4. Can’t find any proof of any deal happening. What is interesting though is that on social media there are hardly any complaints from Rovers fans. The overriding theme is of people wishing him well and thanking him for the memories. His time had come.
  5. Under Venkys we almost certainly have this kind of fate to look forward to so I wouldn’t be reeling out the first world problems line just yet.
  6. Agreed. Our strategy seems at best reactive and at worst non-existent. But let’s be kind, the set up seems to be as follows: As manager, Mowbray leads the conclave manages the first team and identifies the areas to recruit (based on ‘his’ logic), he goes to Venus with his list and they agree targets, with Venus making the initial calls to other clubs/agents. Once they get a bite (or get bit) they hand over the commercial negotiations to Waggott and then they wait and hope that these discussions tip up a player for Lowe to train/get fit. This process doesn’t take into account the development players so they bring in Johnson to the team table. (Picture the scene in Moneyball... “Any kit in replacing me in the U23s manager position?” “Not now Damien!”) This gathering may or may not include the chief scout who probably takes July as a holiday. And all this results in us bringing in other teams’ cast offs!

  8. So with the window now closed and a steward’s inquiry over the Mulgrew exit our Summer dealings look like this: Incoming Stewart Downing Bradley Johnson Sam Gallagher Tosin Adarabioyo (loan) Christian Walton (loan) Greg Cunningham (loan) Tom White (U23s) Outgoing Wharton (loan) Magloire (loan) Mulgrew (loan)* Paul Downing Joe Nuttall Harrison Reed (end of loan) Craig Conway Jack Rodwell David Raya Pretty much one-for-one. Better or worse?
  9. You can see them being bought by Bassini at this stage. He’s either a genius or an imbecile.
  10. Piss poor. Can’t help but feel like we are going back to the latter end of the Bowyer era.
  11. I just threw up a bit in @Oldgregg86‘s mouth.
  12. It’s the right thing to take Mulgrew out of the equation - assuming it was our decision - but we need to replace him and bring in another CB and hope we can replace his set-piece goals.
  13. We absolutely must have a new CB lined up if that’s true. Its an odd time for Nicko to post if it isn’t true though. He’d be proven wrong in short order.
  14. “Beginning to slowly lose patience” By 1864’s standards that’s practically “Mowbray Out”.
  15. We should be announcing a new defender and our marketing team are busy announcing the pointless (but unfortunately necessary) third kit. Did we get some kind of group discount with Rangers?
  16. On that basis he should be starting for us ahead of Mulgrew.
  17. Mowbray has someone reading social media - probably even posting - and he says what he thinks will dampen the flames. Then he continues stubbornly with Plan A.
  18. Exactly. Building is not a real thing. At best teams have three years. Even then players are coming to the last year of their contracts in two years. The good ones won’t stay chasing the unicorn and the bad ones are wasting our time. Football is about momentum. We had that this time last season and Mowbray didn’t upgrade the side, he stuck with our league one team and faffed around the edges. It very nearly backfired but there were enough poor teams below us and we did just enough. We are now starting again but the talk from Mowbray is still about bringing in players to ‘help’ the first team. Smallwood still has a role to play in Mowbray’s mind FFS. It’s no secret that I didn’t have much faith in him when he arrived. He failed in his first mission to keep us up. He was blessed with the best budget in L1 and finished second when he could have gone for the top spot and elected not to. He then didn’t capitalise last season. I fear if we are relegated again it will be too late. He hasn’t learned and continues to lack ambition. It’s all about keeping his senior players happy and rewarding loyalty with good contracts that then mean we can’t sell. I’ve no faith in his methods and no belief that he will change.
  19. £1m on Tosin? Doesn’t sound likely but you never know. He certainly needs to be head and shoulders above Magloire from the first time he steps on the field. Magloire got two matches and was dropped despite an excellent debut (and clean sheet). I expect Mowbray will start Lenihan and Mulgrew in every game they are both fit though. Results don’t matter, that’s not what Venkys base their decisions on and, in my opinion, Waggott will never sack him.
