  1. Right down the keepers’ throat. Still can’t get excited about the women’s game. If I didn’t have Twitter I wouldn’t even have seen it.
  2. So why has Mowbray wasted time in talks this Summer with Bauer when he should have been speaking to that better defender?
  3. I’m not sure I get your point. While Bauer was fighting it out with Mulgrew for third place, who was on the pitch partnering Lenihan? Personally I think a lot of people are desperate to talk down Bauer, while at the same time not criticise Mowbray for trying to sign him.
  4. Mowbray in good players cost money shock! https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/17732435.mowbray-on-where-rovers-stand-in-terms-of-transfer-deals/ He also hints at players leaving to start the ball rolling. Wonder if we will have to make a sale before we can buy? Is he playing his cards close to his chest or is their no money for new transfers without losing Dack or Lenihan? (Can’t think of another player who would be of interest to other clubs unless Nyambe has turned heads now that he is a full international).
  5. He hardly played for either of them. When he played regularly for Norwich (over 30 games) they finished 14th.
  6. Any pedigree Hanley’s has is from being an ex Rovers player. When he has played more than 10 games for anyone else he has shown himself to be mediocre. Moving back to Rovers would be a backward step for both parties but it would be better for Hanley than Rovers.
  7. Just don’t think he’s up to it. He has chased the money and has been happy to be on the bench at clubs higher up the league. He played 9 games last season; Norwich got promoted without him. He was also a really poor captain when he was here. When he’s older he’ll look back on his career and think what might have been. But at least he’ll have made lots of money.
  8. If we sign him, yes, and he is just what we need. If we don’t then no, he was never on the radar and not good enough either. All joking aside, I really hope we don’t sign Hanley. Especially in a loan deal.
  9. Just need some people to stop telling the other they can’t have an opinion - or that they are somehow intellectually challenged for having one.
  10. Not sure how else you can read his actual comments. I sincerely hope you are right though and Bauer has just been a long term stalking m-horse for a better defender who can slot into the first team. History doesn’t back that up though. Any player coming in is likely to be behind the existing players until Mowbray thinks they are worthy. Sadly, as we saw with Rothwell, that could be after it no longer impacts the season.
  11. Bit of a waste of 2 years then. We need at least one defender to replace Mulgrew. This talk of “one for the future” that we keep hearing is getting tiresome. It’s one thing expecting fans to be patient, but players, agents, other clubs? When our better players start to come of age they will leave well before Mowbray’s project matures.
  12. Magloire is looking better and better each game and he took his chance after a nervy few minutes when he got his first team debut.
  13. I’m sure Mowbray thinks he is being noble and honest but saying to a player during a meeting “you won’t be going straight into our starting line up*, you’ll have to earn your place” wouldn’t go down as well as “I’ve been tracking your progress for two years and I want you to be the main man in our defence - it would be your place to lose”. Footballs are flakey, arrogant creatures and want to be told that they are great and “wanted”. How often do you hear departing players (at any club) say “I didn’t feel wanted”, for instance. If Neill has told Bauer that he rates him and wants him to go straight into the team then it may have been the difference. Even if it doesn’t work out right from the start. The only good thing about that article is that it doesn’t mention PNE our bidding us for wages. *a starting line up that has one decent cb (a converted cm), and over-the-hill one and some makeshift from full backs! No wonder he wasn’t very impressed. Mowbray is literally loyal to a fault.
  14. Trouble is, some people take ANY comment that isn’t pro-Mowbray as criticism of him. ”Mowbray doesn’t have the urgency to get us promoted” ”Just get behind him and support the lads FFS” It’s infuriating. Message boards are the place where everyone vents and speculates. If this stops then we may as well shut down the forums. This isn’t a new phenomenon either, nor is it limited to Mowbray. People used to point out Coyle’s shortcomings and the got the same “GBTL, FFS” response.
  15. Wonder if Derby will make an approach for Mowbray...
  16. Incredible to think that Downing is almost 10 years older. I think Rodwell has a lot more quality than Downing but just doesn’t seem to have the attitude. I guess if he did, he wouldn’t be at Rovers though.
  17. Having shirts on sale before the school holidays means loads of free marketing across Europe for our iconic blue and white halves. Not to worry, ours will be out in time for when they get back. Rovers are so small time at the minute it’s untrue. Do we get a discount from Umbro for being last?
  18. Not addressed the issue though, dude. You were seemingly trying to make a point that Mowbray was (statistically at least) far superior to Lambert. That’s just not true. On a side note, it’s been a funny old day today. Everyone seems really on edge. Maybe it’s the crushing sense of impending monotony. At best. I think we desperately need a positive Championship-standard signing.
