  1. He is past it. But he can still hit a dead ball.
  2. And not everyone can book it off. Some people think that life should revolve around Rovers as though that should be a factor for attendances. Anyone whose life revolves around Rovers is already attending - and that takes us to the high end of 11k fans. The club needs to stop messing fans about and charging ridiculous prices (relative to the economics of the fanbase) for the privilege.
  3. Interesting. So what are the reasons that attendances increasing? On the face of it it looks as though it’s a halo effect from the Premier League era beginning. Later on maybe more big clubs dropping into the second tier. Also the top flight dropping from 22 to 20 teams must have had an impact in reversing the trend. Some of the traditional 1st division clubs became 2nd division, and some lower 2nd division ones becoming 3rd tier. So no immediate growth per team but maybe growth of the football league ‘big boys’. I guess the razzmatazz of the Sky Revolution re-ignited interest in the game. Huge growth until 2002 (the time of the last decent England team?) then growth has slowed a lot - maybe saturation point has been reached. Prices lowering across football due to Sky TV money might have increased ST numbers?
  4. So he was going to start against Boro but couldn’t due to personal circumstances? What about the rest of the games? Why, for instance, did he bring off Dack recently and not replace him with Rothwell?
  5. Looks like we’ve got the important stuff covered. I guess that’s all the walk-on fan needs to get down and support the lads: convenience in getting your match ticket. Wonder if this be at a reduced price because the club now has zero service costs...?
  6. The red button coverage is crap btw. If people are choosing that over watching a live home game then they club really isn’t trying. The only mistake clubs made was making sure they got paid. Because if there was extra tv money coming in I’m sure Waggott wouldn’t care about the attendance. In my opinion, the only reason we’ve stopped the red button for the Preston game is to ensure that they get as many away fans down as possible. #homefansmatter
  7. It’s not the red button that is detrimental to our attendances. They have been pretty static before and after the introduction of the service. What is prohibitive, is Waggott’s pricing strategy. He is trying to increase the value but while we remain so unambitious on and off the field, there is a widening gap between product and price. With respect, Parson, you would go home and away regardless of most factors. I would buy a ST most seasons - up to a price limit. However, it isn’t you and I, or the other 9000 dyed-in-the-wool types, it’s the other 9000 who aren’t all weather that need attracting to Rovers - if we are to have any chance of turning some of them into die hards. However, it appears that no matter what suggestions anyone puts forward, Waggott will plough on regardless with the current strategy. Much like the manager, he doesn’t have a Plan B.
  8. Shame Mogga didn’t take that into account before throwing the cheque book at Forest. No wonder Brezza looks awesome in training but can’t do it on match days!
  9. You only have to look at how Rothwell has been treated. He is a playmaker and real game changer. But even when Dack is injured he still can’t get a look in. Mowbray has favourites and that’s that. Anyone else might get a few minutes on rotation.
  10. He probably said you have to dislodge Smallwood. Modern players want to be told how great they are, not told they aren’t good enough and despite anything they’ve done so far they need to prove it all over again. Mowbray seems like an honest man in a dishonest industry. All very noble but unlikely to make us successful. I’m with Rev. It’s no use saying that the squad needs improving three weeks after you told us all you had money and didn’t need to spend it. Particularly when everyone else could see the opposite. We were crying out for a proper defender. You loaned out the only one we had and didn’t replace him.
  11. Would be rather annoyed if it was an away game and the home club decided to block the red button while every other game was on. We really have no clue what we are doing when it comes to ticket sales and increasing attendances. Just seems like it’s big stick under Waggott’s watch. Keeping charging them more and more and make sure they can’t watch unless they come to Ewood. Doesn’t help when some numpties talk about “real fans paying at any price”. We are due to have a really bad season with numbers, where Waggott cranks the prices up too high. Then we might see a few offers and prices drop a bit. But I won’t hold my breath.
  12. It’ll be a bit baggy I expect. Remind me, did he get the sack for being too testy?
  13. Would be a shame that but I wouldn’t blame you. Dont expect any ‘deals’ though! (Well not in the sense of a normal person deal - maybe a Waggott Special: “£27 each or three for £81*”) * Plus £2 per ticket surcharge (£3 after 12pm on day before game).
  14. Pretty sure the club have always blamed the police... caught in a lie? Not on TV but let’s move it from 3pm anyway just to piss people off. Grassroots schedules become a huge headache for all concerned, for instance.
  15. As a ST holder who stuck by the club right through the darkest days of Kean and double relegation I feel that Waggott simply kicks the most loyal fans in the teeth. Keeps raising prices every year, tells everyone they aren’t committed enough and de facto caps the attendance keeping the atmosphere grim. Think outside the box! Bloody innovative stadium, my harris.
  16. Having his photo taken with kids - no problem. Handing out Manchester City training gear to a fellow football league team, albeit League Two is the condescending bit for me. I’ve no doubt it was well intended but these aren’t part-timers, they are professional footballers in just the same gig as City. It’s a sign of the times that a team right at the top would treat a League Two side in such a way. I’ve never heard of any other club doing this sort of thing - not in such a grandiose public fashion anyway. Which is how it should be. Treat other clubs with respect, not pity. “Here, you can have all of our kit and training gear. We’ve so much money we’ll just buy more.” If they absolutely need to do that, keep it out of the papers.
  17. 5486 to be precise. A wave of feelgood for Paul Lambert’s first game in charge. Venkys first “proper” managerial appointment. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/14095173.FULL-TIME_REPORT__Preston_North_End_1_Blackburn_Rovers_2/
  18. Whilst I agree, I bet Bowyer wishes he’d had £7m to throw away. And Lambert!
  19. This is nice but it isn’t. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/8448645/newport-generous-guardiola-man-city/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook#Echobox=1550486168 Newport County are a football league team being treated like a counties league outfit. I know there’s a gulf in quality but it’s a gesture that is more than a little patronising.
  20. Remind me again, how long were we in League One for? It was just the one season, right? Mowbray does not help himself.
  21. It’s absolutely impossible to have any rational conversation with some folk on here. Mowbray got us promoted from L1. With the biggest budget in the division. The only real test of Mowbray’s ambition was in the last two games. The next test of his ambition has been when we were 3 points off the play-offs with the January window open. He has recruited very badly but has used the loan market with some success. Sadly the ‘big one’ he got wrong. His tactics and substitutions leave a lot to be desired but that is just how he is. He believes in giving the players the responsibility but he will also blame them when it goes wrong. It’s one way of doing it. When it goes well, ot looks like great team spirit. When it goes badly they can look like strangers. We’ve had two very bad spells, preceded by back to back humblings against local rivals. There has been no pride about is this season. Except maybe the second half 10 men who finally showed up on Sunday. As fans we’d have expected safety to be the target and then push on for a late attempt at a play-off spot. Or just go out and finish as high in the table as we can. Instead it seems like it’s get ourselves nearly safe and then start planning the end of season team party andbookimg your family holidays. The final third of this season could leave a very bad taste indeed. The Summer recruitment would then need to be particularly inspiring to convince people that Mowbray hasn’t hit the comfort zone and wants promotion. (And throw in another season ticket price hike - disguised patronisingly as an early bird offer which is still £50 more than you paid last year). It was a damned sight closer though with three points off sixth, an open transfer window and money to spend than it will be starting at zero with another three ex-PL teams involved. But of course we were keeping our powder dry - which is the same rhetoric we heard from countless managers before him, and another reason to be sceptical of Rovers having changed. The only difference the we wasted £7m on a dud.
  22. Sickening reading that article. Can’t help but imagine the cries of “get your tin foil hats out” at some of those from certain posters on here. Billy Davies’ cousin in charge when he got a new deal at Forest!
  23. You have a point but you don’t have to watch it.
