WBA VS ROVERS - SAT 27TH
Doaksie replied to Dreams of 1995's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Well it was the only position left Tony hadn't played a midfielder. -
A move that only happened after we were rebuffed in our attempts to bring in Sol Campbell.

Well, if you're short on confidence and need a revatilising win - we are always happy to oblige. We didn't appear for the second half at all. 2 games in a week at that intensity is always beyond us. Rothwell runs like a gazelle without a care in the world. Love his driving play. -

No idea how we are behind. As soon as Graham went off it fell apart. Not done much wrong. -

Very solid half. Can't recall Swansea creating anything of note. They look bereft of confidence and we look full of energy. Hopefully that doesn't fade as the second half goes on, and potentially sit deeper. -

It was sarcasm. I thought obviously... It's ok, I always look one -

Home crowd jeer a bit - instant Swansea free kick. Getting every single niggly decision so far. I can see them getting a penalty tonight. Solid enough start, plenty of possession. No real threat at either end. -

Rovers v Leeds, Ewood, 12.00 KO, 20th October

Fantastic 3 points, especially so with the sickener from Leeds just before the break. I said it would be interesting how we reacted, and it was with the same drive and tenacity. That's a very good sign when it would have been easy to go into our shells. And of course not to concede a late equaliser. 3 points in my family rivalry game - and up to 5th. Solid, solid start. -

That was a sickener. After 11 very good performances and barely putting a foot wrong all half we didn't deserve that. Particular mentions for Evans and Armstrong. Both been superb. Same again must be Tony's advice, and the game is still there to be won. Be interesting if the heads go down as a result of that kick in the balls, or we go again. -

It's going to take something pretty spectacular this season for Tony not to select Evans and Smallwood as his first choice CM pairing. I would have liked to see Rothwell's drive against a high tempo Leeds side Hopefully Dacky knows the Sky cameras are there. -
In the 'Director's private lounge', as you walk towards the smaller room with the pitch-view, that's a great photo of Jack on the adjacent wall. It just made me instantly start smiling.
-
Correct. It blocks out 2 of the 92 football league plaques - Burnley and Manchester United, from memory. I think this was Jack's doing. I had the pleasure of a nice meeting in the board-room, and a cup of tea with some fellow supporter's group members pre-game once. And a certain Derek Shaw. A beautiful room. The link's not loading on my work's Firefox, will get a look at this later. Thanks for posting

No idea how a Bolton team that bad have been allowed to stay in the contest for so long. Sitting deep from the goal on 22 minutes. Relieved with the points, but that tactic will not work long term. We know this. Up to the play off group. Have to be happy with that start to the season, on the whole.
-
Was that some last minute equaliser luck evening itself up? How predictable would that have been
-
More fiddles than a trad festival

I think this game would suit Brereton or Arma as the focal point. I imagine one of them will get 30 minutes at it. Watching this game just pass Lowe by. How is he still getting a game at this level?
-
It was good play by Palmer, but for me that was made by Rothwell's clever little pass, and he almost got his goal for reward. Very good team goal from the midfield men
-
We will not lose to a team with Jason Lowe in it. Free-reign for Dack, and a MOM inspired performance today
-
Aye, and he's still had plenty much, much worse. Jesus, think of that.... The League One momentum died tonight. Time for a new game plan Tony. One with Rothwell in it, and no Smallwood. It's time
-
Well, that's the unbeaten home run gone, hopefully it takes the mentality of draws being good enough with it. Our best player tonight - I'm struggling to name one with any credit at all. Reed, if I was pushed
-
Has Bradley been racking up the community service today? Looks a yard off the pace. We're growing into this more, not much urgency about Sheffield United. Definite chance to make a statement here.
-
We look happy to take a point. If something happens, it happens, but a point is a good one for Mowbray. It's hard to argue with that tonight, but the problem arises when we take that mentality more often than not, especially at home. Hoping to see Rothwell's drive and half an hour for Brereton in an advanced role. For all their good work, Sheff Utd haven't created many great chances. Opportunities here with the right changes I feel.
