  1. They haven't been able to fill a 30k (or whatever it is) stadium this season and neither have they in previous seasons - so there's no real suggestion they'd be able to fill a 55k one.
  2. I really don't like Man U but hahahahahaha!! If Wigan had have won this game it could have got them going again after the cup final, but this defeat may take it out of them (hopefully) and that'll be one less team in the battle for Europe.
  3. I'm thinking about buying a mini/small laptop for when we go to Germany because mine is far too big to be lumping round for a month. Ideally the screen wont be bigger than 10" and whilst it doesn't need to have brand new spec i need it to be able to take pictures off a camera, go on the internet, have office features etc - and be quite reasonably priced. Any suggestions?
  4. Kuqi would have scored Pongolle's chance earlier in the first half - not quite sure how he didn't manage to score from 2 yards out!!!
  5. For the past two years we have budgetted for 10th position. They will not budget for 17th place because if things go wrong - which they can do - and you don't achieve that target you get relegated. When they budget 10th that leaves more leeway if things dont go to target. And then there's always the possibility that you finish above target - which is what we are on course to do this season.
  6. Well we cant be doing too badly cos as of Saturday after the Arsenal game, there were no tickets left in the lower tier.
  7. No, no, no you can keep them in the bottom of the Blackburn End thank you very much.!!! I remember some years ago, for one game only, we had our very own version of the Sheff Wednesday band stood at the back of the family stand! They got on everyones nerves and never come back again!
  8. Mark Lawrenson has just said that Rovers will give Arsenal more of a game in 10 minutes than Real Madrid did in the whole game!! I'm tending to agree with him - I believe we're just that bit better than Real Madrid
  9. Don't be celebrating just yet, we don't have the money yet!
  10. The only two DVDs that Rovers have ever produced are 'Ewood Parkes' which was from the testamonial, and there was a free one that come with the season tickets which just had the goals from last season. It lasts all of about 10 minutes!!!
  11. I wouldn't have called it a hostile bear pit!! They made quite a lot of noise when they scored and when they were booing the ref, but other than that they weren't that loud. In fact you could even hear the Rovers fans above them on the highlights. Atmosphere isn't just a Rovers thing. Go to Old Trafford and its quiet as anything. But when but their away fans are something different.
  12. 1-0 to West Ham already. Steve Bruce has decided to play Alex Bruce in midfield over Nicky Butt!
  13. Just seen that Rob Kelly has just been made manager of Leicester. He was hotly tipped to take over as academy director at Rovers when Bobby Downes retires, but moved to Leicester in Nov 04. He was in charge of the youth team when we were in the final in 98 v Everton and the one against Arsenal and he brought through players such as Dunn, Taylor, Gallagher
  14. I know we dont have the same manager now, but when recruiting younger players Rovers have always gone for big, strong players who work hard and well together and assume that in time they will gain more technical skills. Other teams, I'm thinking of Man United in particular, tend to pick skillful players/with lots of technical ability and teach them formations, how to work better together etc as the years go on. Definately at the younger age groups this is very evident, and to a certain extent it must filter up to the u18s team. Although I have to say even thought the game against Derby was poor, all the players did look comfortable on the ball and able to pass quite well.
  15. We've always tended to go to the Arkles across the park. It is right next to Anfield so on Everton home games its pretty quiet and quite good for away fans.
  16. The restricted views are generally further back where you have lots of big poles in front of you - normally just in front of your view of the goalmouth action
  17. They might not fill them all though. Not so much in the league, but in the cups - not even the champions league, have they been selling out. And there's a talk of a massive price hike this season too.
  18. Maybe you should try Oxfam, you may have more luck
  19. There was a sense of inevitability about today - we seem to always end up losing against lesser teams after a big win. Personally our day started off badly - spent the morning in the garage seeing if they could fix the break disk/pad. By the time they said it was gonna take longer than an hour to fix and cost £230, the last train we could get on to Birmingham from Chorley had gone. So having decided we probably wasn't going we then got a lift to the game and by half 2 we was in the ground! And from then on everything got worse. Rovers just weren't at the races. We didn't win anything - Tugay, Neill and Grey stood out as the worst in the first half not that anyone was particulaly good. Bad defending for both goals though the second one was an excellent finish. I thought if we'd have got a goal just after half time we could have been back in it, but once we'd gone about 20 minutes I didnt really feel like we was going to score. We had a couple of opportunities like when Pedersen headed it back across the goal. All in all a rubbish performance/game/day but not to worry. I don't think we'll play that rubbish for a while now and 6th spot is still within our reach.
  20. Well the top of the family stand was quite empty as usual, so that'd knocked a couple of thousand off i guess.
  21. I dunno, he did push Pedersen and people have been sent off for that kind of thing, depending on how petty the ref is feeling!
  22. I think it's gonna be a bit different.....
  23. The very first bet I took this morning was £5000 on Man U to win (rich get!)!! I'm not working tomorrow but I feel like just going anyway and just smile at the man I still cant believe whats happened! How we went in 3-1 at half time I don't know. We weren't particulaly good, but two rubbish defensive errors give us the opportunities. The pen was also a definate pen, Brown stuck out his hand behind his back to get the ball. The second half we tried our best to throw it away - Todd made a couple of mistakes that could have cost us. But in the end we was good enough!! I hate Man U and I really don't care how we beat them!!! But we did:D:D:D
  24. Well from talking to people who come into my shop, United fans were only paying between £17 and £26 for that game, and this has been the case for every cup game this season as they wouldn't fill the ground otherwise. They get away fans to pay £31 by saying the it is £5 off for 'Man U members' which of course away fans aren't.
  25. I'm quite glad that Arsenal have gone out actually (although would have preferred it to be someone else to knock them out). Who do they think they are? Playing a very weak team against a team who have only conceded 7 goals at home this season, its their own fault!
