  1. I'm failing to see how Thommo will improve our midfield. Unless he's about 5 times better than he was last season. With Reid in midfield we've been doing well, I wouldn't want him to be replaced by Thommo. He could play on the right I suppose and provide some competition to Emerton.
  2. tbf Flopsy there were no police around at all. They turned up about 10-15 minutes later, then all the Villa fans run off. Had there been a couple of them around the situation wouldn't have developed as it did, but that still doesn't mean it was ok.
  3. One of the things I want to know is why did we keep taking them stupid corners?? Especially seen as the first couple were absolute rubbish, why not have a change of plan?
  4. The problem isn't people having a drink before the game. The problem is that some people get so drunk that they spoil the enjoyment of others who have also paid some rediculous price to watch the game. Like after the game yesterday, the people involved may have been having fun, but the other 150 or so people who were sat on the busses waiting to go home after a 1-0 defeat probably weren't.
  5. Well if thats what you call enjoying yourself, you shouldn't moan at the consequences
  6. It wasn't the fact you was singing it, but you were singing it to try and provoke a reaction. To start with the Villa fans carried on walking past, but then a couple stopped and started singing back, then a few more. Then thats when things started being thrown.
  7. Well thats funny cos I was with someone in the cap and gown when you told them 'this is my 7th pint'
  8. ...and two against Espanyol
  9. I dont think that is true at all because until everyone got in the ground we didn't know that Villa no longer sold beer. So these people wouldn't have paced themselves, only drunk more. As for later on, when we was on the bus. It was the Rovers fans who started it, singing at the Villa fans, then throwing things. But when the Villa fans got through the gate they all run off back onto their bus! The police turned up about 10 minutes later and all the Villa fans run off and we sat there for about another half hour while the police were taking evidence.
  10. Think Everton are one of the few teams who have seen their s/t sales increase this year. But they did finish 4th. If they don't do as well this season they'll no doubt see a fall like most other teams.
  11. Well yesterday not that much. Once he'd been booked he couldn't tackle like he wanted to. But he is a fair good passer of the ball. When on form he can break up play and then get the ball wide. He's good at set pieces, something which we haven't had much of in recent years. I still dont think we've seen the best of Savage yet - I'm still not convinced he is fully fit.
  12. It appears that loss of season ticket holders isn't just a Rovers problem. Last night watching Match of the Day I was amazed at how many ground looked empty. It looked like there was noone there at Sunderland, not even the amazing north east football fans could fill a stadium Villa were down about 8-9000 on thier capacity and City were about 7000 down. Not what you'd normally expect on the opening day of the season.
  13. It was always gonna be a difficult game going to West Ham. I cant remember the last time Rovers won there. We started off ok, to begin with we were on top and were playing in thier half. Todd got the goal from what seemed like a rubbish corner, but it went in so who cares. But then I felt that we always needed to get a second goal as West Ham were definately getting back into it. I felt though that if Rovers got to half time 1-0 up then we'd ok. But West Ham came out all guns blazing in the second half. They run at us and we couldn't cope. Poor defending for the first goal, we stood offthem far too much. But then Pedersen should have done better with that chance straight after the kickoff. We had to go 4-5-1 because they was all over us. It worked for a while. But then we gave away two more stupid goals. Although you cant argue with Reo-Coker's finish - was excellent. Its hard to pick out anyone who performed well yesterday. We was poor right through the team. Defensivly we were a bit of a mess. I hope Nelsen gets back soon. Mokoena had a terrible game. Once West Ham had scored they also cut through our midfield far too easily. I know Savage had been booked which restricted him somewhat. Attacking wise the midfield was poor also. We're gonna have to provide our strikers with better balls than what they were getting. Bellamy quite obviously wasn't fit but hoofing it over the top 30 yards in front of him isn't good enough. I didn't think Kuqi was that bad, him and Bellamy could make a good partnership imo. As for Dickov, stupid sending off. When I was there I didnt think he'd touched him but after looking on the telly he did. I dont think (well I bloody hope!) we'll play that badly much this season. Bring on Fulham!!!!
  14. Surely Wigan is a bit of a case of its own, seen as the same person who owns then, also owns the company that sponsors them?
  15. You can get decent spec laptops from about £600 now which should pretty much do everything you want it to. Edit. I've merged the topics. Alan75
  16. Just spoke to a grismby fan and they said that pub you mentioned glenn is the away pub to go to. So might as well head for there I reckon
  17. We're off to Grimsby, we're going to some friends first then to the football. Just found a guide to pub on the electronic fishcake website - Grismby Pubs
  18. Well towards the end of last season their home crowds probably averaged about 15,000, with the game v sunderland having over 20,000. Albeit the attendences were swelled by the away support but they get bigger crowds than you think.
  19. The tickets for Espanyol are now on sale. £15 for adults, £5 young adults and seniors and £1 for juniors. Should get a crowd of about 10k I would imagine.
  20. The rugby at the moment is pretty dire, if Wigan win one of their first few games then I can definately see loads of people who sometimes watch the rugby instead go and watch the football. Although one limiting factor for the latics may be the colour of the seats. We went watching the first latics game at the JJB v Morecambe a few years back. The game was a rubbish 0-0. But the reason Wigan didn't win according to a few fans that we was talking to was because 'I'm sat on a bloody red seat, no wonder we're not winning'!! When many people bought their season ticket that year they weren't that bothered about what stand they were in, as long as it was a blue seat!
  21. They must be coming out within the next week or so. I'd suggest that as soon as they are known they'd appear on the official site!
  22. Stop your moaning, I bet you cant name me another premierleague club that give away free keyrings and mousemats with their season tickets
  23. I have: Fridel Gallas Nelsen Mackay Routledge Lampard Jenas Gerrard Henry © Rooney Kuqi Subs: Pollitt, Purse, anderton, Collins
