  1. Shelvey sat at St James Park watching
  2. can sign out of contract players out of the window
  3. Fair point but both highlight how skint we were in the 80s.
  4. Arguable. Ronnie Hildersley from a club seeking re-election to the league on a free runs it close. Although Bobby Saxton signing the opponents centre forward when he went to look at Andy Mutch is a close call.
  5. No it wasnt, it was intended so that he could beat the full back in the air as they are generally worse in the air than centre back. Playing him wide showed up how bad his first touch could actually be. Still maintain though play him down the middle with players who have the ability to cross he will get goals. He tends to struggle when he has time to think.
  6. Maybe thats why they need Pears out the door to create room in the sticker book.
  7. Well Im a Riversider as I sit in the Riverside so what you trying to say?
  8. A better example then would be Paul Warhurst. A central defender Dalglish bought to play centre midfield
  9. Left with little or no protection with no Diaz back tracking....reminded me of the days when Armstrong was here playing wide
  10. To be fair if strikers had taken their chances at the back end of the first half this wouldnt have happened. If Diaz is to go we need someone who can take chances.
  11. To be honest I didn;t see much difference than any other Ayala preformance. He is slow and plays too deep. I still maintain Rovers play 10 yards further up the pitch when he does not play. I know I maybe in minority but we need to replace him.
  12. Yes there is if the player is playing for your team. I agree Delap was physical against Rovers and at times overstepped but I suspect if it was Ayala putting Delap in his place it would be applauded as putting the CF in his pocket. Football has gone soft today and its only a matter of time before contact is banned
  13. There are times playing as a lone No.9 thats no bad thing. How many times do we say that SG is bullied by the defenders
  14. There was a media story in Nov or Dec that he was either wanted by Dortmund or being offered to Dortmund in part of a package for Bellingham
  15. The players you mention were premiership not the league lower. To be fair you need compare with the likes of Rhodes and Garner. You can also include Newell , Jansen and of course Speedie. In the same breath there were seasons in the 2nd division we had Tony Diamond and Shaun Curry up front. Also to mention Dahlin who was nothing but a Crock.
  16. I thought that was from the fee we would have got if we sold Rothwell, once Venky's overturned the decision to sell Rothwell I thought we pulled out of signing Dembele. I maybe wrong though
  17. One is more technical and one is more physical as I say both have much to learn. Wharton has the potential to play at the higher level though
  18. The one thing he has always lacked is pace in foot and mind. Maybe the likes of Evans made him look better than he is
  19. Disagree, they both have strengths and weaknesses. Combine them then we have a player. Hopefully time will develop their weaknesses.
  20. Hirst not in todays squad.......hopefully a positive sign
  21. He has value but by running around which can be effective, Im not disagreeing and against certain oppostion is very effective. When it comes to automatic choice what has cost got to do with it....unless you're an accountant. Run himself into the ground usually means running for everything mean lots of spent energy for nothing = headless chicken
  22. EH Diouf was a horrible perosn and personally wouldnt had had him at the club but as a professional windup merchant ot pantomine villian he was a master of his craft as was Savage. Buckley is a spolit child who needs his legs slapping
  23. Not saying he is a problem but he is not an automatic first choice, stats show he is an impact player
  24. If you cant see that the game was already slipping as Boro had changed tactics then Im sorry but the red card was not the only changing factor hence the frustations including John Buckley's
  25. No, youve missed a key point. The players you mention both knew when to petulant and when to be professional. How many times was Savage suspended? From memory he only got sent off once. Buckley....and Travis both need to learn that skill.
