Can we make the Playoffs?
dingles staying down 4ever replied to Prelude's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Fair enough but likewise he has to take his fair share of the blame when things aren't right. Remember it is only part way through this season that the majority on here wanted him to go. There are some things he has done well and I will give credit but I actually think this team coulld of been higher in the league with a better manager. I just dont like managers who concentrate on the opposition to the detriment of his own team rather than concentrate on giving the opposition something to worry about. Hopefully Mowbray has learnt his lesson, prove me wrong and I can give credit to him. -

As a wide player how many chances has he created never mind scored compared to say Armstrong on the left? That will give you a better idea of balance. Even the biggest defender of Mowbray, Chaddy admits the team looks better balanced without Gallagher out wide. -

Its taken over half a season and SIX different positions for him to drop Bennett, and possibly him carrying an injury for him to be benched. And before you call me RB,LB, RM,LM, DM and in the number 10 spot. Travis started due to Evans not being available for the Sheff Utd game, do you think Travis would of started otherwise? This season if Mowbray had been ruthless Bennett wouldn't have been on the bench nevermind starting XI, Gallagher would be benched, Brerteon out on loan and the likes of Smallwood and Leutwiller wouldnt be at the club. -

Last season could you say the same with all the player you mentioned? Even though it was clear that Mulgrew legs had gone last season he started this season. Williams only lost his place through injury but has played this season. Smallwood was used as an example of how to play midfield last season for Travis and Harrison to follow. There was always a Champonship player in Evans but it took Smallwood's silly sending off to give him a decent partner in Travis to play alongside him. Mowbray's loyalty to players is no myth. Bobby Saxton also suffered the same. -

No offence taken, football would be boring if we all had the same opinions. Question though and maybe I'm being overcritical but when Gallagher plays on the wing does the team look balanced? Do you think that playing on the wing has effected his confidence? Is that the player or manager to blame? You say about signing wingers but when he signs them he does not play them consistently.. -

I used the Oldham game as an example, other examples of that season is using Chapman at home and battering Portsmouth then changing the following week against Wigan and going defensive. He concentrates too much on the opposition's strengths rather than ours. Even the most pro Mowbray supporter has to admit he has his favourites which can be detrimental to the team. Maybe I am being over citical in saying that it is despite him and he has made good signings but nobody can call him a tactical genius. Inspirational managers make bold changes which change games, do things that you,as a supporter, cannot see and inspire by their sheer presence. Can you say that about Mowbray? Likewise watching the team when it is struggling, you think what will Mowbray will do to change it round. We all think well thats us beat then. It is not all down to him obviously but he is paid to lead and inspire. I just keep thinking if we had a manager that inspires then we could be in a higher position. -
Can we make the Playoffs?

Really? why? His transfer dealings are hit and miss. In league one, he tried forcing a three man defence on us, then after signing attacking players he changed tactics to defend against a right back from Oldham. I can't remember why but he basically he had to go to a formation that the supporters wanted and he gained success. Then upon winning promotion changed formation again. This season his insistance on playing Gallagher out wide has destroyed his big signing's confidence and only injury to the player has forced him to abandon it. So yes, I maintain we in the position despite him rather than because of him. -

Yes...but usually it is the team on a run rather than the team who has been in the playoff positions all season that gets promoted. Considering where many of us, including myself, thought we'd finish then sixth would be an achievement. I still worry about the fact we can go on a long negative run as much as a positive one -

How many times has Mowbray said someone will sign withing the next 24/48 hours and no one turned up. We'll wait and see. -
Ben Brereton Diaz
dingles staying down 4ever replied to Stuart's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
People defending Rovers fans should remember its not the first time that the fans have turned on a big money signing. It never ends well for player or club. Brereton has been condemned and no loan spell away will correct that. It's been a bad move from day one its neither the fans or player's fault. For all concerned we need to get him out of the club as soon as possible. -
Struggling to see us getting anymore than a point tomorrow to be honest. I can understand the call for dropping Rothwell as he has been ineffective in end product but he does gives the opponents defenders more to think about with Downing coming forward from full back. With Bell or Bennett at full back I'd wager that our opponents would rather defend against that then stop Rothwell and prevent Downing coming on the overlap. Coming from full back allows Downing more time to put in a telling cross, a lot like Le Saux used to do.

There were pro and cons for keeping Dack on. I’m usually critical of Mowbray but not in this case. -
4-4-2..
dingles staying down 4ever replied to Nelsonthedog's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Up until this season, I've thought that Armstong's best position is playing off a big man down the middle in a 4-4-2 formation but I've changed my mind. He constantly keeps getting caught off side down the middle. -
I'm probably doing Mowbray an injustice but when players are doing well he swaps and changes them when a result goes against. I didn't watch last night but listening to Radio Lancs last night, every time Travis' name was mentioned it was usually followed by a Swansea player as he had given the ball away. Evans was subbed even though Travis sounded knackered. From previous games, its looks like Holtby cant play as the middle two but his best performances have been further forward. To me, and I'll be called for this, Travis has been poor for the last two games and stays in the team whilst when he has played well he gets dropped. Sometimes I dont get what Mowbray sees, So I suspect the player who is playing well IMO, Evans, will be dropped whilst the player requiring a rest will be persisted with and a player will be added out of position.
