  1. Didnt we sign Chris Sulley from this lot?
  2. Boro still eligable for compensation as he is under 24 so I don't think it possible.
  3. Has his hair been photoshopped onto that photo?
  4. Attendance came up on score board near the end but not announced. No man of the match last night. Do they have one for cup matches?
  5. Travis needs time on the pitch. Sitting on the bench won't improve him. If we bring in the Southampton lad then he may not get on the bench.
  6. I agree about defending further up the pitch. It makes the original idea of Caddis, who has hardly had a kick in 6 months, even more strange. Also odd that Mowbray hadn't spotted Evans. He had been crouched down struggling even in the first half. He lasted longer than I thought and hopefully taking off was precauitionary.
  7. It depends on the progress wwe are making at the end of the season. If we just avoid relegation then yes I can understand your point but if we just miss out on promotion then it is a stick or twist situation for the following season. Venkys have stuck in the past and sold players like Cairney when we just missed out on the playoffs and ended up going backwards.
  8. Dangerous to even talk like this. Venky's have a habit of selling even when we are trying to build. Need to learn from past mistakes. We have to hold onto our better players if progress is to be made. Lets keep the momentum going
  9. Only place there was a lack of quality was final third. Bearing in mind the injuries we had in the forward line then that is understandable.
  10. Odd when you need to defend a lead that you decide to not bring on a sub that you were going to bring on
  11. So your the Adrian durham of BRFCS then? Shame it would be good to know your real views.
  12. As Chaddy says there is a reason that Maddison hasn't gone yet even though his chairman has been actively trying to shift him all summer? I don't believe I'm agreeing with him. The Charlton defender has been chased all summer and I still have a feeling he'll turn up at Ewood at some stage...possibly Jan, once Charlton injury problems have been sorted. We need a striker and for the going rate for a young forward with potential is 7-8 million. Bamford, Gallacher and Brereton all seem to be around the same price. I don't know what the problem is with Rovers pay the going rate if the club can afford it. The problem is if Bamford was bought for 2 million and Gallacher was available for 1 million then I'd be asking questions why Brereton.
  13. Still have a feeling that Williams will be back when fit
  14. How do you know Ronaldo is risk free.....he has never played in the Championship and at 30odd he won't have any resale value.
  15. We will see in on 1 feb wont we? He was saying the same before the permanent signing deadlines.
  16. Brereton is a gamble and yes he has to improve his finsihing. You say we need proven quality at this level but this goes against Mowbrays thinking of building for the future. I agree with having experience and proven quality at this level but the squad has experience. Proven quality in the passed has also burnt us...ie Danny Murphy, Peter Whittingham. As I say every transfer is a gamble.
  17. Even us Rovers fans who love the club wont join for those wages Chaddy
  18. So because no one on here was naming him as a target then we shouldn't looking? Waghorn? There were many on here were horrifed we were looking at, now you are giving him as an example of someone of better value We looked at McGinn we were blasted out of the water by Villa on wages and it is possible we looked at Bamford with the same out come. Looks like they are spending less on fees but higher on wages. At the end of the player's contract the outlay will have been the same or even higher. High earning players have cost this club dear in the past and it does appear we have a rigid wage structure in place. Grabban could get you goals but £ 6 million for a 30 year old is a gamble. If he fires Forest up then its money well spent what happens if Forest don't go up? Will there any chance of getting back on a 31 year old? Marriott and Baldack time will tell and do look good value compared to Bereton. The price we are looking at does look steep and I'm very aware of recent history but if Venky's were to pull the plug again it does not matter if the money has spent on one, two, three or four players it will still be pulled and we'd still be in debt. I'm not a huge fan of Mowbray because of his over cautious approach at times. At times during the summer it appears it has cost us in the transfer market. It seems very strange that he has gone out on a limb on this one player. Why?
  19. When we signed Dack some Rovers fans said it. Dack had had a terrible season for Gillingham after winning the league 1 player of ther year the year previously. The amount is irrelevant the principal was the same in that it was the majority of a budget that many said was not there.
  20. Those saying if the player is a flop then Venky's may turn the tap off well what happens if we don't spend it? Venky's may turn the tap off thinking we don't need it. What happens if the Bereton does not move and gets in to the Forest team does well then goes for £20million. Will the doom mongers then turn and say say why did we not pay the bargain of £8 million. All transfers are a gamble that may or may not come off. We have to be cautious of course but it nice to see us even talking about such vaules being talked about again. The way Dack has started the season the £750,000 we gambled on a one season wonder at Gillingham looks like it could repay 10 times over like the the money we gambled on Davies cost us £3 million. Proven goal scorers who we could get a return on are only interested in premier league. All the multi million pound players I dare say will be a calculated gamble or are players there will be little return on.
  21. Any win away from home is a great result.
  22. Time will tell. Far too early to tell.
  23. and yet we bid 4.5 million for one on deadline day.
  24. Not the first time that Bennett has missed simple tap ins. At least this time it didn't cost us.
