  1. And now Olivia is coming back from the jungle early on medical advice (I presume she keeps her appearance fee). Poor lad can't seem to catch a break.
  2. Reported as torn meniscus and MCL, and potential torn ACL. According to Paul himself, the injury occured halfway through the match. I couldn't imagine going 10+ mins on a busted knee.
  3. The first would benefit from some light editing, the second not so much:
  4. Just done a Rovers quiz on Sporcle and completely missed Alex Baptiste. I wouldn’t have got him if I had all year.
  5. When I was at uni during the ‘99 relegation season, the club ran a special offer for successive home games against perennial strugglers Coventry, Southampton and Charlton. We lost the first two and I missed the third.
  6. ‘There’s no easy games in this division, except maybe against Ipswich at home’ For some reason I think it was Shearer who said it. We then went and lost the match.
  7. The Bolton game that sticks in my mind was when Diouf dived to win a penalty, Brad saved and Diouf stuck in the rebound. Was in rather a bad mood about that one.
  8. Not sure, he might have fallen foul of Souness by that point. I've not checked, but I think Stead might have been alongside Dickov and/or Kuqi in his second season.
  9. I've got it in my head that it was playing alongside Cole that helped him score as many as he did (as happened with Jansen a couple of years prior). After Cole left, Stead's form nosedived.
  10. Released from Raith Rovers after eight months: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63089939
  11. Another Rovers keeper around that time was Alan Miller - only played two games for us but was also our sub keeper in the league cup win. Sadly passed away last year. Only 51.
  12. In the period when Ronaldo and Messi were at Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively, they scored 85% of goals in La Liga.
  13. Man Utd went over a year without a Saturday 3pm kick-off
  14. I can't help but think Dailly might still be in our top 10 transfer fees paid. Cole, Rhodes, Davies, Grabbi, Brereton, Kalinic (£6m?)...don't know if there's any others.
  15. Sorry, this should gone in the main forum! @khod can you or the other mods rectify? 🙏🏻
  16. So the club have said we’ve had at least one academy player in each match day squad for the last 600 games, which is quite the achievement. I thought I’d tap into our collective intelligence because I’ve a few questions that follow on from that: 1 - how does this compare to other Championship teams? 2 - what was our squad 601 games ago? I read once Ajax have had an academy player in their starting XI in every game since sometime in 1983, and I know Man U lived off the class of ‘92 for a good while so I was wondering how 600 games ranks nowadays and whether it’s only ‘quite the achievement’ in my head.
  17. I think it was Dave Jones. Came in roughly the same time as Williamson, quite a tidy player IIRC. I mainly remember Da Vita from the BBC vide-printer after scoring for Livingston.
  18. 7.5m IIRC. Still in third place for most expensive signing (although we exchanged Davies for Ostenstad so it was more like 3.75m each. Still more than either were worth.) Agree with the second point. Henchoz was good but raw, we were unlucky with Dahlin, but only Jansen from that period leaves me with good memories. Thank goodness we had the academy bringing through Duff, Dunn, and a bit later, Taylor.
  19. I remember Ostenstad coming to Ewood after Kevin Davies's disasterous season, in a rare example of a player exchange with no fee involved. Probably managed to look good by playing next to Ashley Ward, less so playing alongside Jansen.
  20. If he’s not been mentioned in 14 pages he must surely have been forgotten… Per Frandsen
  21. Just checked Marshall's career. Still only 31, playing for Stoneclough in the West Lancashire Football League division 1 (12th tier).
  22. Been doing a wiki trawl of Rovers post-Bowyer and there's a fair few players I have no recollection of: Matthew Kilgallon Chris Taylor Nathan Delfouneso Tom Lawrence Stephen Hendrie Sam Hart (I do remember him, but I couldn't remember his first name)
  23. The lower part of 7-13. At least I’m hopeful that there won’t be a death spiral in the new year under JDT.
  24. Speaking of keepers of that period, he never played a senior game for Rovers, but there's our only Faeroese(?) player, Gunnar Nielsen.
