v West Bromwich Albion (a) - 13/1/24

No one panic, we have our two Jan signings who will make a big difference... The club is lifeless this season. I'm bored of this season already and never got excited about it from day 1 in truth given the shambles of the summer transfer window. Another dreadful window so far where we're getting weaker and weaker with every window. We are on a trajectory towards league 1 in 18 months time. We'll just about be OK this season given how bad the bottom 3 are. -

They're not bad defenders. They are poorly coached on the defensive side of the game. The focus in training is on passing the ball. We don't work on the basics. If an organiser like Warnock or Allardyce was our manager, neither of whom will be, then I can guarenatee you that the exact same defenders would not be making these kind of mistakes. -

JDT has been let down in the transfer market but he's made us so defensively weak and too easy to score against. His philosophy of trying to outscore teams is completely misguided. Time to go now. This season has been an embarrassment so far. -

Leo is the worst GK we've ever had. I genuinely can't remember a worse one. -

Would be nice if JDT did some work with the team on the defensive side of the game. He has to go for me. Hyam and Carter are two of the best defenders in the league yet they're part of the worst defence in the league. -

First of many today. We're the softest touch in the league. WBA are one of the toughest to score against so game over. This season can't end soon enough. Absolute garbage season. -

That line up is depressing. This season has been a shambles. -

This will be a comfortable win for WBA. They're very strong at home and we're just rubbish generally so they'll win easily. At least some of our players are on the way back though so we may start picking up some points after today. -

I think there was/is a player in there somewhere but I don't think we can spend anymore time or money hoping that player comes out. I think he'd do well at a club that plays a more direct style of football and they just want him to be a handful. He's no good for a team that wants to keep the ball on the floor, he's got no technical ability. I actually think Dolan is our best striker at the moment. He doesn't have a goalscoring instinct but his control and movement are good. He's the most lively player we have in that position (aside from Szmodics obviously who is one of the best players in the league). -

Would be a good move to ship out Ennis on loan and then ship him out permanently in the summer. We need a complete overhaul in the attacking areas. I can't remember us having a worst set of striking options. Gally, Ennis, Vale, Telalovic, Dolan, Leonard. That has to be the worst in many decades. We've always had really good strikers at our club. Even in league 1 we had Danny Graham and Armstrong. -

Everything at Rovers these days is done on the cheap so this doesn't surprise me. We can't even afford to fly to away games. Players are probably put up in a Travelodge. -

Thank god for Sammie! We'd be going down this season without him. He's top class. -

Remember that JDT's philosophy is to outscore other teams. He puts little emphasis on coaching defending, it's all about creating chances. His philosophy is all wrong if you wanna be successful at a club like Rovers. -

2 goals conceded against a league 2 side in the first 30 mins. Says it all. JDT has no idea how to set up a team. -

My word, we're dreadful. JDT is destroying his reputation after being highly regarded last season. -

The transfer in policy is very, very alarming. We had a very poor summer window and I'm not impressed with the two players we've brought in this window either. They may be good players in the future but are they going to make any great impact on a short term loan deal given their age? I highly doubt it. The Brighton guy couldn't get in Coventry's team and they're only just above us. If the transfer policy does not improve between now and the end of the summer transfer window then we will be in serious relegation trouble next season. Not a chance JDT will be with us next season either. -

He's in the prime of his career so he should be playing regularly these days and looking to maximise his earning potential. If you're not playing regularly, you're in a weak negotiating position come your next move or new contract. He's not suited to a passing style of football and he's too slow. Sit him in front of the back four and ask him not to cross the halfway line and he'll do a half decent job of breaking up play. Trondstad does that role far better though so he's not getting in ahead of him. -

Not bothered about Trav going but to replace him with a kid from Brighton is bonkers. Hill leaving too and replaced by a kid from lge 1. I kinda understand that one as at least it's a permanent deal but JDT has been saying all season that we need experience...and then our first two signings are kids. Our sole purpose is to develop young players these days. Not a shred of ambition. -

Good decision to let Trav go. He needs games and is not very good imo. Surely means we have someone lined up pretty quickly. -
Another transfer window where Venkys are not allowed to release funds for transfers. This simply cannot go on. Its killed our season and if it continues into the summer transfer window then we will be in big relegation trouble next year. We're not going down this year though. Could this be the catalyst that finally sees them look to sell up? On the other hand, does it suits them? They are limited to how much they can spend on the club and can just blame the Indian government.

The Crewe guy feels like a good investment. But losing Hill and replacing him with O'Riordan ultimately makes us weaker. I think Travis will go this window to free up some funds. He's not good enough imo. Too slow and no technical ability. Suspect Markanday may go out on loan later in the window with Hedges nearing a return. He's just not good enough full stop.
