  1. Can't agree, mate. They've made us look like lower league opposition on several occasions.
  2. FFS Lenighan. Symbolic of the throwing away of the whole of this season.
  3. Bloody Rothwell. No need for that foul and yellow card, at all. Since the Bournemouth episode, it seems like he has totally lost focus - perhaps trying too hard. Really frustrated with him.
  4. So we are playing wing backs with two players who aren't wing backs, right? Great. Too many of ours are totally underperforming and/or not good enough. It is getting really hard to watch this, game in, game out - especially knowing there was such an opportunity here for promotion, and it's going to go begging.
  5. Any chance we could change the Thread title, now? Some people don't need their ego's further enlarged by seeing something in their name, even if it is appropriately critical! "Nicko's Thread" always seemed quite the ego trip that was enjoyed for much longer than it deserved.
  6. No, if someone scored 3 or 4 in a year then that clearly would be a very well honed skill and/or strategy. But for someone who probably hasn't scored one before (isn't based on any factual knowledge!), and hasn't scored one now, but might perhaps have done and might do sometime, perhaps, then I don't consider him unlucky not to have done. Just as Buckley wasn't unlucky to almost hit the target. Anyway, sorry, I'm just being mildly argumentative for no reason other than I'm so cross at that 'performance'! Have a nice evening.
  7. He would have been very very lucky to score direct from one.
  8. But should we be surprised? Buckley is a dreadful finisher and if all your other sitters fall to defenders who aren't used to great crosses coming in, then you're never likely to have a decent conversion rate. We look clueless.
  9. Or have Giles take them all rather than Khadra (or the ineffectual Rothwell) wasting everything.
  10. No guile or creativity in this team. Our only real threat has been crosses from Giles on the left. He has been our one bright spark. I'm totally downbeat about our season right now
  11. Not much of an impact on this one, for me. This is all on Mowbray and Rovers.
  12. The change has to bloody happen now. Hit them while they are reorganising and for 30 mins or so. If BBD doesn't have that in him then be shouldn't be there
  13. We are making one of the worst teams in the division look like they know what they are doing. It's so frustrating.
  14. Well that was horrible. Pro's: Giles promising and set pieces suddenly a threat, Hedges movement decent, Nyambe defensively, no-one sent off yet, Swansea are awful. Con's: Buckley, Rothwell, defending for the goal, lack of actual striker = no goals, Nyambe offensively, will probably have someone sent off soon, we look awful.
  15. With that change we may have just convinced Luton they can win this.
  16. Now I've got Steve Kean in my head. This is getting worse by the minute!
  17. I do agree with you on all of this. But I wouldn't take a play-off spot offered now because, right now, we have worked ourselves into a position where we should be aiming even higher and there is little reason why we shouldn't. Top 2 is possible and achievable - although I think we need 3 signings to provide more depth. If we end up just missing out, and finish in the play-offs, I agree that would still be a very good season, above all expectations pre-season. But it is the hope (rather than total belief) of something even greater that I'm clinging onto, for now... Exciting/terrifying!
  18. Easy tiger! 😉 PS I hope you don't mind that I read that as being delivered in the voice of that Norwegian commentator in '81. "Jethro, The Wurzels, Marcus Trescothick: Your cider boys took a hell of a beating!"
  19. Reads like if you asked my managers to give a reference for me. Glowing.
  20. Great post, Davey, and I'm really pleased to hear about the swift help - and that your dad seems ok and raring to go! Thank you for sharing the update as there was clearly a lot of concern at the ground and watching on TV. Not nice for an onlooker, so it must have been really awful at the time for you and those close to you, in every sense. Very best wishes to your dad and I hope you are both back at Ewood very soon. From a fellow 'stay on as long after full time as you can' Rover.
  21. Leaving aside for a moment some of my negative feelings about him over recent years; full credit to Mowbray for what he is doing this year. Having just seen his post match interview, and watched him during games, he is a completely different character to the one we've seen in the previous few years. Mojo in place and coming across as an ambassador for our club. Similarly, what a brilliant, honest speaker Wilder is.
  22. Agree with other comments - Butterworth doesn't look up for, or to, this.
