In my opinion this is a problem with the modern game. Every club must have a ‘way they play’ and every player they sign must fit into that system. Thats all well and good when it works, but when it doesn’t there’s nothing you can do about it (short of starting all over again)

Last season… Scored first = 19 wins 4 draws 2 defeats (scored 39 conceded 14) Conceded first = 1 win 3 draws 15 defeats (scored 13 conceded 40) So under JDT: 88/108 points when scored first 10/93 points when conceded first

The two games we’ve lost having scored first we were winning with ten minutes to go (yesterday and Hull)

This season… Scored first = 9 wins and 2 defeats (scored 24 conceded 10) Conceded first = 1 win 1 draw 10 defeats (scored 11 conceded 30)

It will be interesting to see what the club’s response to this is.
