  1. We could have considered it to be a Schrodinger’s fact.
  2. That figure is (or is supposed to be!) the average number of employees during the year so TM and JDT shouldn’t have been ‘double counted’ anyways.
  3. I agree it sounds high but I’ve no idea who it includes.
  4. Year ending 30/6/2022 = £24.3 million staff costs of which £21.3 million was salaries…
  5. Underworld - Born Slippy
  6. I’m southern (live in the north mind) and I agree with you 😁
  7. If a team does anything which the opposition hasn’t been trained to expect then they don’t have a clue on how to deal with it.
  8. The emperor’s new clothes.
  9. He’s marking his own work and no one should do that.
  10. I don’t see how that makes sense either! The premise of Goodhart’s law is if a measure becomes a target you can manipulate things to ensure you meet it. In these instances you’ve met the target but you’ve not necessarily achieved the success the measure was intended to help you achieve. I hope that makes sense, I fear that it doesn’t!!
  11. Yep, more bullshit than ever before.
  12. I hope he’s not relying on that money…

  15. An academy player has no book value - that’s why any transfer fee is all profit (in the accounts)
  16. Surely you’ve not forgotten that.
  17. Perhaps we should just join in 😁
  18. Hopefully not ‘in the mods we trust’
  19. For me no, but I could certainly see how someone could argue they are.
  20. The below is from his first interview - it appears he was happy with the remit to develop young players but only because he’d also been told the bit I’ve emboldened. “We have a young team here, and also a great Academy, and the Owners have a clear vision, which is to develop players and become a sustainable Premier League club over time, so I’m really happy to be involved in this exciting new chapter for the club.
  21. Acceptable as a method for assessing the success of the academy. Not acceptable as a method for assessing the success of the first team.
  22. Yes, I don’t see why planning for that would be a bad thing. Clearly they’d hope to never need that ‘contingency’ but knowing what it would be seems like a good idea to me.
