I predict a lot of 'young team, inconsistent, mistakes, it's a nice project' post match talk in tomorrows presser. -
Haven't a lot of those players started the games that got us here ? Start with the same side that has done so well they've earned the right, WTF have the regulars done recently to earn automatic rights ? Naff all, keep faith with the kids and second string and leave the scapegoating at home for this one.

I think it's inevitable Mowbray and Harvey would be rooting around here for a few players. We only have to look how TM works always preferring to reunite with players he's had before taking the easy option because he knows they aren't turning up in ripped jeans. Imo he needs a good window to save his job because the notoriously restless Mackem mob will be on his case soon. When they turn they turn they don't simmer on a low heat for years like our lot. I hope Rovers tell him to get stuffed but the way its gone with those 2 and JDT i wouldn't be surprised if there is some foot stamping to go behind the scenes. -
That's why it's no surprise we'll have 6 or 7k home fans there because it's pretty standard for us and plenty other clubs with this competition. Only being highlighted because of the potential angle of as many away fans as home, if Forest were bringing their usual following nobody would bat an eyelid.

Thought so. Rarely seems to be a Sat afternoon game either that's probably why iv'e still never been down there. -
I'm sure Forest had sub 1k here not long ago for a night game when they were shite ? They certainly aren't a team who've brought thousands up here every time we've played that's for sure. Just another typical big city club (compared to the town of Blackburn) waving their little todgers about. Never bring that many more than Derby. Hopefully little old Rovers pull their fingers out and do what they do best and have done countless times down the years, send a huge big city away following slinking home quietly with their tails between their legs.

When was the last time we got a result down there ? A proper graveyard for Rovers. -

Like i said earlier players like Ayala. Hyam, Brittain, Travis etc etc are struggling with it and how many games do these guys have under their belts ? They aren't kids and it isn't a development squad it seems like its been forced on them. If it's a new blueprint at the club it should be being done from the under 18s upwards first you can't experiment at first team level. -
If the same type of brains that see to the ticketing are in charge of the retail then no surprise whatsoever. It's all about the targets on the balance sheet, can't hit realistic ones without putting prices down ? Then just lower the targets, get on or around that and pat yourself on the back. Might even be a bonus in it. Nothing is about the fans at corner shop Ewood.

Well hes brought in Brittain, Hyam, Morton, Mola to name a few who are some of the biggest strugglers with it so no getting around the fact it lies at his door. -

JDT was a breath of fresh air when he first came in which was a shot in the arm the club needed. He is in danger of disappearing down his own self dug rabbit hole now though so needs a step back. Look at what works and what doesn't rather trying to persist with something until it works.- 9495 replies

I'm surprised the Riverside stand is even open for this it's normally shut for these type of fixtures. JW stand is where most head when tickets are cheap so that is the one to look at but either way another poor turn out and atmosphere seems guaranteed. The young lads deserve so much better but it'll be a nice bit of character building for them.

Get back in your box. JDT just needs to go back to what they were doing early doors and get on the front foot a bit more. -

Mowbrays possession football wasn't played inside or to one side of our own box but the key difference was he had the likes of Evans and Trybull who were far more comfortable showing for and receiving short balls under pressure. Also we created a lot of chances we just didn't have a Rhodes type at the other end to snap them up. We kept losing by the odd goal and it was boring and frustrating to sit through but it wasn't near as suicidal as this present system has become. All the more frustrating because when they are fit JDT/Broughton have built a better set of defenders. They just can't play dutch disease football. -

I'm a 'take a step back and get a bit more basic JDTite' I think it's too soon to implement such a sea change in tactics so go back to the more subtle version of it we saw earlier in the season. Perhaps another couple of windows and a full summer to work at it would suit us better next season although i can confidently say the pace we do it at the back will never reap anything other than trouble. We aren't good enough though to do it quicker so it needs shelving for now in favour of 1 or 2 passes then look forwards and some quicker stuff from the keeper down field. -
For those wavering just remember the much changed teams selected so far in this comp and the spirited shows they turned in. Very refreshing and a mile away from the first team stuff of recent times so hopefully he'll do the same again and let them have a go. They deserve some support and there really is no need to play with the shackles on in a cup game.

I'd be interested in hearing them as well ? Only ones i'm aware of is him saying Nob End were more up for it and everyone expected a Rovers response and changes at half time but we basically rolled over. -

Funny you mention the Mowbray cult but yes they are shuffling out from under their stones all of a sudden on the LT and faceache. Very strange people who always seem more concerned about the man more than Rovers results. -

At the risk of echoing a few others we are still 3rd. You never ever sell your best players if you are 3rd in the league and have genuine ambition of promotion. Unless it's stupid money - which it won't be - then it shouldn't even enter into the heads. Not even like he's a Jordan Rhodes style earner either where the wages could be reused instantly. Lose the best source of goals and possibly assists and for what ? A piddling couple of million at best that may or may not appear in the summer pot. -

If he'd come through our academy he'd be being used as a squad man like some of the others unless he'd proved himself inexpendable. Stick the name Liverpool in and he suddenly becomes the first name on the team sheet regardless of repeatedly being not up to the job.
