Jon Dahl Tomasson - Sweden coach
tomphil replied to Tom's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
There were plenty stinkers under Mowbray and Bowyer etc It is the championship after all but what is worse about this is he just seems to think it's ok because it's project football. You don't use games against Burnley and Preston like practise matches. To be fair the poor football has given us good home results but on the road its been worse football and worse results overall. There is a real danger that will transcend into the home games now unless it is mixed up and stepped up a bit because in truth even at home we were getting away with it for a good while. This division always finds you out before long. -

Prayers fall on deaf ears because they are fantasy just like the fantasy football our head coach is asking of these players. -

I agree, put a fit Corry Evans or Trybull in there with Rothwell and they would look more comfortable on the ball. We've been there before, those ships have sailed and we didn't really have anything but stability to show for it. -

Common sense more like. Demanding 100% is a minimum requirement but expecting players to perform a style of football that is beyond some of them and alien to others is a sure fire way to defeat. That's defeatism and we have plenty of them. -

They are following his instructions and it is returning a low standard now that is the problem. That is why they'll ask questions of him just like he's asking of them you cannot expect champions league standard football from championship standard players. -

What we are short of in there and on the pitch is some experience every manager needs his lieutenants. -

For the sake of 5 million we might as well keep him. -

I hope so, nothing against him but way to lightweight for the championship i'd prefer a more seasoned oven ready midfielder in there. -

The front men are stood there looking towards their own goal whilst we pass it slowly between keeper and defenders. Usually under pressure in one corner of the pitch, nobody looks up they are just looking to work it into the middle. Then it's lost under pressure or hoofed down the middle where we don't usually have a centre forward anyway. I really wouldn't want to be a striker playing in this team so poor is the service. Unless like you say we do break from the back and play a few nice passes that suddenly results in something being created. Problem is teams have that sussed now and it rarely worked away from home anyway. Where is our high press high intensity game ? -

As close to we'll get to an absolute banker nailed on loss and that isn't being pessimistic it's a simple case of looking at our away form. Look at how we set up and play and look at the last 2 performances, clueless and confidenceless so nothing but blind hope going into this one. Bringing Ayala back means we'll be even more camped in our own box ! So desperately need that first goal so get big Sam up the middle, Hedges on the right, Travis at rwb and maybe Dolan in the middle to buzz around upping the tempo a bit. Only way to get something here is have a go at them and go long when you need to. -

stop moaning we are 2nd '' '' '' 3rd ' '' '' 5th '' '' '' 8th everybody would have taken 8th at the beginning of the season....... It's the go to case for the defence whilst they miss the point like a Harry Kane second penalty. -

Attacking players can move all they want but when the ball is constantly finding opposition players instead of them it makes little difference. -

Who is he going to bring in though ? We have a good set of defenders now and they are struggling with it but they won't be replaced. Morton is a decent footballer but too lightweight, Travis really struggles with it but to change him is a very big call by the head coach. So we are stuck with it but if he does want to make it work he needs to replace that pair in the middle. With a pair who can play neat football under pressure and can do the rough stuff as well. It ain't happening and i'm convinced he just thinks more and more training sessions and games and it'll just click. I'm sure he knows he'll have no money to replace guys even if he wanted to. -

They are certainly no better than us but they are better coached and drilled by the looks of it. -

It's no wonder as they are being told to play in a way that instead of improving players is actually ruining them and their confidence. Hyam is looking ropey now as is Brittain and Wharton and Travis, all playing well and looking confident a few months ago, all are far better we know than what we are seeing. As for Broughton well he is the boss down there now so he needs to start acting like one and have JDT in for a good chat. Then he needs to step in front of the local press and back his man, they are both accountable for the recent shambles. -

Was speaking with a Preston diehard and after he'd finished gloating he was realistic by saying they are an average side. Whilst he was delighted with the way they went about it yesterday him and his mates couldn't believe how bad Rovers were and what they were trying to do. He felt the North End players couldn't believe it either, it was a comedy of errors and they spent most of the game laughing at Rovers. Worst Blackburn side iv'e seen in the last decade of us playing each other was his comment. We literally handed it to them gift wrapped. -

I think we are finding out JDTs football and management style maybe aren't suited to championship football. He's got to wise up quick and change it up but i'm not sure he knows how, rightly or wrongly he's losing the fans. Mowbray had the promotion to live off for years but Tomasson is so far going to be defined by the Burnley and PNE shambles. -

Tomasson is out of his depth he has absolutely no idea what to do when teams press us or we go behind. We've seen it all season time and again and he doesn't seem to be able to get to grips with it. The Burnley game was a real red flag but nearly a month later and god knows how many training sessions nothing has changed at all. In fact it looks worse on todays evidence. -

He's not good at answering he just waffles and suddenly seems to lose his grasp on the English language. Looked and sounded lost today just like after the last abomination and to be fair the SKY guy asked more pressing questions than the pansies at the LT or Radio Lancs will ever ask. He was basically saying why do your team feck about with it so much and over play it at the back. If he isn't yapping about the fans or throwing the 'young' excuse out then he doesn't say much at all. We all know what the issues are as do the opposition now but just like his predecessor he purposely ignoring it and taking no accountability although unlike Mowbray he will at least say it's ctrap when it is. -

They played JDTs Scandinavian style and beat 2 teams which is probably the worst thing that could happen. Just justifies the awful tactics in meaningless games leading to it continuing to be trotted out where it really matters. -

Well he can shove that style of football where the sun doesn't shine that was pathetic again. He's blabbed on about the need to work on stuff in training during breaks and both times it's looked worse than it did before. It's going to be a bleak Christmas that's as clear as day the way it's going, we've been winging it for months now but the style has been sussed and the luck has run out. -

Kean - 'book value' Bowyer - 'book value' Mowbray - 'squad value' JDT - 'value into players' It's a load of old bollocks trotted out to justify the fucking around on the pitch, we rarely sell a player when they hit value. They either walk for nothing when they feel like it or stamp their feet for a move then get sold. How many of these managers have ever said me and the owners want to build a team for promotion ?
