  1. They really have to invest a chunk of this to keep the goal scoring forward conveyor going, no excuses now with FFP. Surely the ownership can stick in a couple of million and put a bond up in order to get in a decent player. They've taken a couple of cheap punts that hopefully look like they'll work out but a proper investment is needed now, proff is in the pudding with AA, BBD and Sammie etc.
  2. Which is the assumption anybody can come up with.
  3. If Leeds, Ipswich and Southampton came in for him how do you know he wouldn't still have chosen Ipswich if the money on offer was all similar or even Leeds had offered more ?????
  4. Totally agree, there is something old school about him and its been great to watch him over come a tricky start a Ewood and grow into his full potential. So many academy lads even the lower ability lower down the scale ones come across as entitled little tossers. Not in a particularly nasty or arrogant way most will be decent lads but they are robotic and characterless. Players who come up the old way from lower down tend to have far more of an edge to them and appreciate it more.
  5. On a side note ... The sales before now have covered this years running costs due to no money from India with a small percentage including wage savings being reinvested recently. So with the Raya money now confirmed and Sammie all but gone that's circa another 15 million to cover next years costs. So expect very little again other than wage saving and about 7% of instalment income being spent on further recruitment.
  6. It seems there is a separate dept for outgoings with 24/7 phone line to Pune and debugged, qualified staffed portal to the FA.
  7. He does have pace he's very quick off the mark which is what will give a chance, if he has any, of making any kind of impression in the Prem. He has also reached his peak years now and players like him - the Dickovs, Bellamy's, Speedies, tend to last into their early 30's in peak form until they slow down a bit. So from a selling clubs point of view all those things need to be considered as if they drop there's every chance he'll shoot them straight back up. Also he may well grab enough goals to save them from the drop even if he's a bit part player because he has the right attitude and work ethic when times are tough. He's a great punt to them for a 10 million package and i expect his wage demands are modest in comparison to a lot of others.
  8. Iv'e always backed Dolan i think he was a great bit of opportunism from us snapping him up and hes been a very valuable squad player in his time. He has imo every right to ask for a standard first team player wage given he was probably on peanuts then a modest wage, however in no realm is he a 15k a week plus bonuses footballer, not to us with our restrictions. He still has potential to be one if he can find consistency or goals in Szmods position but at present he is still a work in progress. Some feel hes already hit his ceiling and maybe but it's up to him to prove otherwise and keep earning pay rises. If he thinks he can get that money elsewhere then good luck to him.
  9. The same rumours turned up just after Lenihen had left, offered him 20 odd grand a week this that and the other. It was BS then and it's BS now in Sammie's case.
  10. That doesn't need an explanation really does it.
  11. After they let 20 million walk for nothing, employed a useless DoF and employed a Head Coach who was so desperate to leave he wanted to forfeit his pay off, then we nearly got relegated. So yeah i can see why they'd trust everything he says ! I'd say closer to the truth is they'll decide rightly or wrongly regardless of him.
  12. After he said jump to the purchase of Brereton for 6/7 million then his exit for nothing i'd say they won't be jumping very far on his word.
  13. Nice bit of local interest to spice it up a bit although i'd have preferred to be away. Tough game, they'll bring a few so i hope it's priced correctly then we get a home turnout as well, should be a 10k gate which isn't to be sniffed at. And for the powers that be this is a local game so let people actually turn up and pay, park your digital only crap in the garage.
  14. How long since we've had game changing subs ? Don't want to get carried away and we are still operating on a shoestring with potential of more sales but Eustace seems to have identified everything that has been missing a long long time. Lets hope he can get a few more in and not the Rovers bodies for bodies sake method either. Norwich 1 Rovers 1
  15. He ain't a winger though they just kept trying to present him as one when he should have been being coached into an industrious wide midfielder or 10. Drop several leagues and he'll probably start to look like a winger though, then someone might buy him !
  16. Markanday needs ganes and he'll probably get them there. Zero point sending him to sit on a bench somewhere unless they want his wages gone for a bit.
  17. I think he probably had to approach it quite differently last season it was arm around the shoulder stuff to everyone and pandering to players, fans and his overloards. Seem a lot more bullish this season and it's good to see and hear. Again he was cast into the flames on here like so many players by a few before hes even had a fair crack of the whip, the famous Rovers Jury had him in the gallows. Guilty myself sometimes but he was following a popular guy who was shafted so it was always going to take time.
  18. Only being fed a pack lies from upstairs would see Eustace side step to Preston where he'd find maybe a solider more honest bunch to work for. However he'd also find the ficklest chip on shoulder bunch of fans in Lancashire to try and please on similar crowds and small budget. We can be hard to please at times but similar to Brum there are an entire catalogue of reasons why over the last 14 years that would ruin any fanbase. That lot however have been small but stable, something a lot of their supporters can't come to terms with as a good thing if you know your place. Still, all he'd have to do is win at Ewood and they'd give him a special trophy and open top parade around Leyland.
  19. The comfort zone for quite a few players under Mowbray was all too evident. Whilst there's a lot to be aid for stability it's really a watchword for being happy going nowhere and whilst too many changes are bad i think a club like us has to role the dice every now and again. Keeps everyone on their toes and gets rid of deadwood.
  20. That's my gripe and why i;m sat at home. Initial allocation went in a few hours so obviously demand was there for more but we probably had to buy up front. Crazy from both clubs but as we always say on here the pillocks making these rules get paid the same whether there's 500 hundred there or 5 thousand.
  21. He was at the time he looked way more comfortable on the ball but i thought Branthwaite was ok he just had a bad game or two and overall just didn't fit how we were playing as well as THB did. Stick him in a more direct team with midfield protection and he'd have looked better than the other lad imo.
  22. Iv'e seen 500 to 1250 mentioned but nobody seems to know although i always thought the away section there was about 3k. Hard to know if there was a surprisingly big demand or our club as often the case has scrimped for the smallest allocation possible.
  23. We can be a bit harsh on here i'm sure you've noticed and some of the Moran comments are correct he looks good when the going is good but disappears the min it isn't. However these are young developing players from Prem clubs and are sent to our respective outfits to learn and grow and that's what happens. They are often physically not up to it, raw but have clear ability yet need to also develop that mental edge of coping in often struggling sides. A few seasons ago we had Morton from Liverpool and Moran replaced him in the squad last season and i think most thought, at first, he was an upgrade. Meanwhile Morton does a season at Hull and earns wide spread praise from their fans and the clamour for him back. A year old, stronger, wiser and a bit more experience which is what you might get from Moran, still another Rovers cast off though 🤣
  24. Nah i'm not having it sorry they aren't taking a player from here on c12/15k a week and giving him a 40 or 50 grand a week 3 or 4 year deal. You lads are fantasising @Paul Mani If he was on a free yes and yes they might give that to a marquee signing or two but come on they won't even cough up a modest fee yet. Never mind the fact him and his agent would be spitting absolute fire at Rovers for potentially denying him that kind of coin. Lets me more sensible and assume he'd be on 25/30 grand a week which is still a massive pay rise and contract and more than enough to tempt him. A lot of people really overstate the amounts a newly promoted Prem club will chuck out on a player with no Prem experience and the potential to be on their books for a few years back in the Championship. Likes of Ipswich cut their cloth accordingly these days then if it doesn't work out first season they've plenty to spare from the parachutes.
