  1. Aye if they announced he was off now there'd be pressure to spend but it's not happening i'd wager all the real spending is done now barring maybe wages on a keeper. Just be looking at the loan market now and the Szmods money is running cost money.
  2. He's probably at that point where he is thinking of the security of a longer contract and signing on fee and he's unlikely to get another good deal here given what's going on. I'd prefer him in the squad this season though there's been quite a lot of changes it needs some familiar faces who know the club. Given the time and service here and the fact he didn't cost a fee and won't be on monster money he's one i wouldn't mind if he saw his contract out and left for nowt. Unless someone is offering a million plus it's a bit pointless selling him for peanuts now might as well rinse what we can this season it could be a tough one.
  3. There must be 2.5k available total allocations for those if needed, no way are they selling out.
  4. I don't think that comes from him it's the bean counters who can only sign off decent wages on one year deals. Clearly can't afford more than a couple of million in transfer fees and the sales income won't last much more than a year so it's a case of the only way to get experience is no fee, decent wage, short deal.
  5. Much more confident for this one now but still too early to be calling results.
  6. I was there for his first tear up with Whyte and it didn't disappoint it was a belter which he was very unfortunate to lose. He takes way too much punishment but he always dishes back as much as he can as well. Arguably the best HW journeyman of all time if there is such a thing given hes fought most of the top tens of the last 15 years.
  7. I think Eustace will fancy using Trav but i think the suits fancy getting rid of his wages and seeing a bit of cash back.
  8. My relegation fears have eased ten fold since last week.
  9. But often more expensive all things considered.
  10. Often been the case under Venkys that there is no money for significant transfer fees but money suddenly gets okayed for short term big wages, Downing, Rodwell etc.
  11. With the type of players they are bringing in and the prospect of hopefully a loan or two of flying wingers it looks like Dolan will be squeezed out anyway. As for the keeper well Pears is number 1 at the min so anyone coming in will be to challenge or just back him up. Unless of course they spend good money or recruit someone like Krull on big wages.
  12. Dolan's a goner i think he was the min they put it about it was all to do with him changing agents and it would be sorted by December....2023. I'm a fan of his but if hes been playing billy big balls he probably has had something lined up a while. If not he might just be about to learn the hard way but of course it wouldn't be a surprise if Waggot has been low balling him anyway knowing we have an option and there is compen.
  13. Knew that was coming last season with the amount of clubs not allowing pay on the day despite plenty room and un sold out home sections. Almost like there is something afoot to discourage all but the hardiest of travellers especially with the new tv deal schedules. There is going to be one bus full at some away games before long like the bad old days, wonder if there is a bit of govt netzero nudging beginning to propagate.
  14. Good signing Weimman just the type we should have been adding whilst second in the league. Might just turn out to be the best bit of business in this window and for me way and above the most sensible signing of the forward newbies. Think the big lad we signed is one that isn;t going to start much but will be the go to thrown on later in games to get on the end of things. Again something that has been missing at Ewood for a decade and something previous managers seemed adverse to for some reason yet other clubs did it. Not sure how much he has to do with the actual players but Eustace's remit he's passed to the recruitment dept seems very sound indeed. He's obviously told them we don't need a dozen midfielders we need defenders, they've come, we need forwards, they've come, need a guy up top with some pedigree, he's here. Fingers crossed for a keeper to challenge the number 1 spot !
  15. Ok half of it then but carry on and take your dummy home with you, i might have been being melodramatic football debates often are but you've trumped it now. Jog on.
  16. You could apply that to many many other countries also and that wasn't the debate in the first place. A good player is a good whether they come from the Isle of White or Timbuktoo
  17. It's no different to the Scottish Prem in reality a few big clubs (just more than two) carry the league and i'd stake a fiver Chris Brown would score against some of them that make up the numbers.
  18. The J league is sheeite and the Belgium top league is weak barring maybe half a dozen clubs their national side is pretty average. This is why we are able to get these players for very little money because coming to a Championship club that is on its arse and just avoided relegation to the third tier last season is a big step up. Doesn't mean these lads won't do well it remains to be sen but we need to remain realistic.
  19. It's subjective not false that's just your own opinion,
  20. Operating a model that needs wholesale departures to cover running costs then use the little left over for replacement signings on lower wages and virtually no fees. But yeah Eustace and Venkys are now building something special i actually read today from some lunatic. I'd say Eustace is doing well to just cobble a squad together on peanuts that might keep its head above water before it's decimated further. I'm over the moon we are signing players and intrigued at a couple of them but for gods sake people lets stay in the realms of reality. We are in for a slog and most of what happens this season will rely on Eustace tactics and grinding out clean sheets again. The two 'marquee' signings so far have never kicked a ball in British football and haven't played at a level above maybe the Scottish second tier.
  21. That doesn't really fit in with the way things are now done at Rovers though, we are a development club and kids have been eased in or thrown in with far less experience than O'Riordan. I think most of us expected him to feature a bit at least although the league struggles no doubt tempered that a bit but he has 52 appearances for Crewe under his belt, presumably that prompted the signing. Sadly i have zero faith in anything young and low budget signed under Broughton, agree on the loan bit he needs some games until Jan at least if he ain't ready for here.
  22. If they were going to cash Hyam in i'd speculate it'll be in Jan though wouldn't be surprised if he is one earmarked to offer a new deal to just to protect the asset.
  23. IF they get clearance they will be transferring in for running costs next time the pot is running out. There has never and will never be a transfer war chest they don't fund it like that.
  24. I hope they've reserved Leo's wages in the budget to wiggle in a better keeper.
  25. If we bought Leo for 800k paid in installments then sold him for the same we'd still have to pay off what was owed therefore i think that transfer money was just breaking even on that deal and will play no part in business now. Getting Gallagher through the door for a guaranteed million plus is what has allowed the signings plus probably the usual 500k transfer pot.
