  1. Well he's a former agent so any quick buck to make from that side of it will always interest him most i suppose. Agree with your take on the role of CEO but hes never hid the fact he's a cost cutter and squeeze what you have merchant rather than a builder or speculate to accumulate type exec. No experience or resume of doing anything like that but plenty for doing exactly what he is doing, managing the downscaling/water treading of ailing badly owned clubs. Here he's had Mowbray to hide behind and 15 mill per year propping up money which probably wasn't forthcoming at Charlton or Coventry. Cracks have been badly exposed since all that has gone but to be fair he's no doubt played a part in keeping the lights on and the club in the Championship. Trouble is he's also made a big contribution (or lack of) in leading us into the mess in the first place.
  2. The last thing a company like Booths would want is to be associated with an Indian chicken firm that is under Govt investigation in its home land. And the only thing it is known for in the UK is ruining a good stable well run universally well known Premier league football club. It's pretty obvious to me why we only get modest sized local firms with a real feeling for the club sponsoring our shirts, perhaps we should be thankful i'm sure we did a season without anyone paying anything !
  3. I'm always rather dubious of overall wage bills and investors/investment firms etc you really never know what is being run the books and why these individuals and entities become so financially involved in things they've no connection to in the first place. I think Rovers actual football wage budget in lge 1 wasn't massive although no doubt bigger than most in there at the time. The transfer spend was modest too but knowing what we know now it's probably safe to assume those running this outfit weren't actually that desperate to bounce back, it was always going to be done on a small budget whether successful or not. Ipswich had been down there a good few years though so i can maybe understand the ethos of we are just going to have to spend our way up. Especially when you look at Bolton who are another trying to do it on peanuts but a lot of damage was already done there. When all is said and done they are probably just going to run with a championship budget retained from last season and Nixon is applying his usual dose of hyperbole to a non story.
  4. File that with the 50 million war chest he peddled here. Besides if any manager needs 20 million to get out of league 1 i'd be seriously questioning why he was employed in the first place.
  5. Yes and making it constantly sound like it's unique to here, it isn't.
  6. Wow a clubs small gates significantly increase quickly due to a statement of ambition, that's never happened anywhere else has it.
  7. Well they've got that right at least.
  8. The latest price discount, which is offset somewhat by various stealth, was all about preventing a big drop off in renewals on the back of an awful season on the pitch and more ridiculous stuff off it with no doubt more to come. It shouldn't be judged as anything else and if they hit last years numbers privately i think they'll be relieved in arse covering central, aka the office of Steve & Suhail.
  9. Not enough stick to scrap the latest Waggot tax though, i wonder what stroke they'll pull next with match tickets.
  10. So they are blaming staffing cost for the tenner then they have staff faffing about teaching ipad skills. Typical bullshit and i'll lay a tenner bet that before long they pull the 'online sales only' stunt again for match tickets.
  11. The most successful fowards we've had here in the Championship we've paid good money for and to there's no point to dress it up any other way. They all had a bit of pedigree and all the cheapo's have largely been rubbish so what do we expect to change all of a sudden ? We need to buy at least one decent striker proven at least at lge 1 level.
  12. If you appoint a down grader or water treader then that's all you'll ever do.
  13. Yeah but we'd only sell a couple of thousand more than normal at their prices.....
  14. Are we in an unofficial embargo again or something because the signings we are linked with resemble the bin scraping we were doing last time.
  15. Mr D now signs off the accounts and on companies house it states the brothers are the significant shareholders, it was changed a few years ago. The root cause of all the constant problems at this club lie around that kitchen table, the associated ambitionless gravy train riding clowns they employ to put up with their nonsense only add to the issues.
  16. Exactly. Every now and then the pointers are there that the 'advisors' with the same old ties remain as does the Mr & Mrs D v Barry and friends (one of which is a shadow director here) stand offs. My hunch is if it was soley up to the first two we'd have been sold years ago, if it was soley up to the latter we'd either have gone bust through even more stupidity and agent fleecing or spent on a real promotion effort at some point....then gone bust if it didn't work. As for the third wheel i presume he's still in the confused category.
  17. Some of those he was connected to are still connected to this club i reckon.
  18. They'll suddenly bung 5 million in when everything else has been exhausted then they'll be revered for keeping the lights on as this never ending nonsense carries on, in league 1.
  19. They shut the vault on him years ago and moved him on when the new even lower biudget model was implemented.
  20. Looking like it might be similar by the end of early bird so they really need to extend it and sign some actual players.
  21. Yeah it'll be a years wages for Ruddy probably, not exactly re-investment in the 'model'.
  22. It's a fair drop off from 8k plus other benefits he was alleged to have been lured to Bournemouth by. It certainly wasn't the chance of 1st team football that took him there he was way off that level. Point being if your life and outgoings are tailored to thousands of pounds per week you'll find yourself in bother the examples are endless of young footballers. The docu on netflix of J Lloyd Samuels is an interesting tale he went from 400 qiud a week to 15 grand a week then 20 grand a week before he got injured his contract ran out and he was on nothing with no club. As Mike Tyson once said it's a massive leap from the gutter to the Rolls Royce but it's only one step out the Roller back into the gutter !
  23. Correct there must be players out there a bit younger if they could be bothered finding them but this has all the hallmarks of a cosy old boys network taking the easiest options. A really lazy approach to recruitment so lets hope it's hearsay and John Park is looking at lads like Van Hecke instead and sticking the wages money into loan fees for a bit of quality with legs. Mcfadz we can live with but the other two there's no need.
  24. We look like signing possibly 3 players over 30 with the meagre wages budget we'll have, one lasted 15 mins in the last 12 months and the other two are 37/38. That kind of business is no different to the desperate season Coyle was signing Greer and Brown and paying these experienced guys won't leave much wages room for anything else, that's the real problem.
