new senior management team
tomphil replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
If it's done the way the managerial appointments are done then no one at Ewood will know about it until the day before he/she turns up. -
Correct they all wanted out once it became clear the club was going nowhere and was behind the scenes actively encouraging interest in virtually any and every player worth more than a tenner !
-
Bit in paper tomorrow now ?
-
Hope he's got enough for a taxi home when he gets back because no way will Northern Fail turn up ?
-
Rhodes, Hanley, Marshall that's c18 million of recent ex Rovers talent pitching up at Norwich. Be interesting to see how they go next season, not too far I don't reckon.
-
Building a team to play that way would be a real treat i'm sick of the sit off and let the other side play approach that has been often the norm at Ewood since relegation from the Prem. Ok you have to at times but if you can mix it up and have the pressing as your core style then even better. 2 holding mids which manager after manager here has seemed to prefer is fine if they are good enough to break play deep and if you have two sharp wingers to get the ball to and counter. TM mixed it up a bit last season to be fair but not enough for my liking although the people available often dictated it I think, i'e strikers on the wings etc. Time for a proper change.

Never show your true hand. Things are being done a bit more sensible these days or at least it appears that way, go in with your max or near it and yes you might get the deal on the table but at the 11th hour gazumped. That's the risk you take I suppose if you really want/need the guy but if it's someone you'd like but you don't feel desperate or poss have other targets it's a waiting game. Didn't the Bell deal rumble on similar ?
-
Maybe they got wind he wants a move and quite fancies coming here, also they know that Charlton probably need some money. 5/600k with adds ons sounds about right for him so I think playing hardball is fair enough in this case. It's happened to us enough in the past.

Todd Kane has limited abilities probably suited to league 1 or lower level champ squad man I can't see him ever being much more than that. One that was never going to make the grade at Chelsea but they aren't worried about writing the cost off, tried to shop window him but no takers and no one will fancy his wages anyway. Wonder how he might have turned out coming up the ladder the traditional way ? As it is he'll be in for a reality check having to take much smaller wages if he wants to carry on but if he's been sensible he might be ok for money anyway. Remains to be seen how all that affects him but not one i'd bother with again I don't think.

He certainly finds the lure of Edinburgh nights far to hard to resist that's for sure and it's probably down to the hero worship of Hibees. That one good game has guaranteed to get him laid every night for the next 5 years. One day it will all run out but the way he treats clubs and football in general he should be booted out and blacklisted right now, waster.
-
Aye I know I was just bringing him down a peg ? Stokes will end up broke in a gutter somewhere by 40 and it'll suit him.
-
How's Anthony Stokes ??????? But yes agree it's bonkers to offer any comparison on the back of that game. Only thing i'll say is Rovers look fitter at this early point than at any time in the recent past.
-
Who cares, hopefully they'll bounce him out on loan.
-
He did say words to that effect, time to fully expect Conway to be a regular starter as a defensive winger type imo.
-
Even a wand won't cure shot legs.
-
Martin Olsson - He will take a dive ! England beware.
-
Yes there is money there but a lot is being used to secure what we have so it depends what's left over that's why I think more signings just to back up the squad for a few hundred grand each. Very doubtful we'll be signing one or more players for around a million quid each. I'll settle for a couple of quality loans.
-
Yep he got a new contract and big pay rise after his stint here.
-
That's why Armstrong would be good signing because he can cover about 3 positions in attack because he has some pace and is quite direct. I'm a big believer in horses for courses and would prefer genuine wingers with pace but you can get away with Armstrong there, also a counter attacking set up with him spearheading is one that wasn't used enough imo. He'd be worth a bit of investment on that lot alone.
-
Agree and by no means am I criticising because they are at least still putting obvious sensible thinking to the ones they've got in so far even if they are lower price signings etc. I've every faith they've had some good targets and made some bids but I also think we'll be priced out of a lot of them maybe even by so called lesser clubs in the Champ. The money is getting silly at that level. TM has talked about target lists, A,B,C so you have to wonder how many B's we are now at and how many C's he might have to settle for in the end.
-
Ha ha you moan about it only being a quid then move the goal posts !!!! All bets are off ?
-
A quid says we might make 4 in total, which is sense because we are replacing ones lost anyway BUT 4 newbies won't be staring v Ipswich ?
-
We'll see, I think they are spreading what money they have in bolstering the squad. Maybe reading too much into the comments as is the norm around here but the tone goes from 'adding quality' - 'hit the ground running' - 'improve on what we have' to 'strengthen in all areas' -'strength in depth' type comments. Doesn't mean they don't have offers in for players but the longer it goes those deals shrink away and I think the market we are in with the spending we can do it'll end up with a few more Rothwell type deals than a Dack or a Mulgrew. Positive side is they are still bringing potential good players in whereas in the past it's just been nothing then a bit of a panic scramble to get bodies for the sake of it.
-
Looks to me like they are just after back up players rather than ones to immediately challenge the established ones or add instant quality to the first 11. The strongest starting 11 pretty much picks itself aside from TMs constant tinkering and rotating so it'll be as you were I think with maybe the back ups mostly being our own signings now instead of loans. Squad will be a bit stronger maybe but not much different quality wise.
