  1. Players can and do get injured on the training pitch. Of course a club who was about to commit maybe 10 million quid might be well within their rights to say lets have a look because we need him straight in our team. Nothing unusual there just because you don't think it would happen doesn't mean it doesn't but like i said probably not the case here, hopefully.
  2. Not if some scouts with serious interest wanted to watch him to assess his fitness before reporting back to their clubs then they can bid. Not that i think it's the case here but behind closed doors games have been known for such purposes.
  3. Why are they popping up on here moaning they can't believe Blackburn fans are having a pop at their huge following. From what iv'e seen it's them coming out with rubbish about Rovers and our fans retaliating with a few home truths, very odd bunch they seem.
  4. Does Gallagher want to see us get relegated ? Such stupid comments who in their right mind would actively try and sell their top scorer to be replaced by a kid who to date misses more then he scores. No wonder we end up in the crap we do if that's the kind of advice floating around in football, beyond stupid. Also i'd agree on dropping Wharton for a bit just for tactical reasons but they'll not drop him until the window shuts ! Anyway we can turn it around and it can start today just get a result somehow then forget 'player development and the process' for a few weeks and just concentrate on results. If we don't do that we'll be in the mire.
  5. In a DoF model i assume they can actively try and sell players or just flog one if a big bid comes in all without any input from the Head Coach. Bit different when a manager runs everything so i expect JDT ain't got much clue what is going on and will be hearing rumours and hearsay like the rest of them.
  6. I think if all incoming fees in their time are weighted against all outgoing ones it might be fairly even, i know it was a few years ago. So they've never really actually invested properly in the playing squad and we aren't signing now because we ain't sold anybody. Last example was the Armstrong profit eventually being spent on Hyam, Brittain etc and the loose change from Kaminsky was spaffed on Leo. So it's always been sell to buy really or they'll tip up in the budget for bigger loan wages at times. It very much looks like the club was always intended to be a money pit to chuck 10 million or so per year of spare company profits into and that suits their business accounts. In return they get to own an English sporting institution, get some global advertising - even know - and more importantly to some of them something to play with. Of course it all went a wildly out of control and that's well documented but since the audited in post relegation the fundamentals stayed the same until now. Chuck in a certain amount of profit, play around with it, still get a bit of limited advertising and publicity, only buy when players are sold. And that's it and it will never change even if they find a way around current problems because that is and always has been their intended model.
  7. He basically sounds like he is pleading with the club to sell nobody and just recruit which is absolutely correct given the situation we are in.
  8. I mean Wrexham 'fans' from all over the world ? Come on there'd hardly be any in Wrexham without the Hollywood nonsense and of course when American public are suddenly taking an interest in soccer you know it's a farce. I'm genuinely glad for the 3 or 4k real Wrexham hardcore every dog deserves it's day and it's good some of their local youth will now chose them instead of the traditional TV clubs in that area. The rest can go and get stuffed.
  9. Next thing 'we'll be all over the ground'.... Minnows having a big day out is nothing new is it but they'll bang on like it's unique. As for our turnout or lack of it a quick glance at games at Bolton and Blackpool versus Premier lge opposition at home the other night tells the story.
  10. It would be just the kind of daft thing they'd do i'm sure this new set up is just a box ticking exercise on a football level, oh you need a striker to replace one ? Ok here he is. These are the people remember who brought in Ennis and the DoF and CEO gave him a 4 year contract. Plus losing a guy for 1.5 mill and bringing a free in on a few grand a week less will be the stuff of dreams for the finance staff. Non who support Rovers and all just earning a wage ticking boxes.
  11. It'll be the same thing they tell their bemused shareholders and fraught bankers. 'We are building a sustainable club to get in the Premier League and once there we'll get a return on the investment' All BS of course but that's the kind of speak that will be used.
  12. Adding the Brum guy now would make sense but bringing him in to replace Gallagher at 5 years older makes no sense. how could it.
  13. The main thing is double the walk up punters turned up that what would have at even cat C £20 quid so that is the whole idea of reduced tickets. They won't have ended up massively out of pocket and had the team done the job then a few more would have returned for the next one at full price. Adding in the extra takings elsewhere in the stadium and shop it wouldn't have been far off balancing out.
  14. They are talking shite about Watford but Waggot has the same generic answer every time for these things. There'd have been 3k home fans and half the number of away fans at best at normal prices but there were around 4k extras pitched up due to the pricing. Take in added spend around the ground, shop etc and the taking can't have been much different, of course the team went and ballsed it up as is standard for Rovers these days.
  15. You think they'd have learned that by now after it took them years to sort out the keeper dept and get someone like TK in. Right back to square one now as weak as it was when Steele was struggling and Raya wasn't ready, pathetic amateur stuff really. Yes no one would be complaining if Leo was mustard but he isn't and we aren't paid to scout, recruit and bring in these guys and whoever was is either naive or just ticking a box.
  16. The only reason Lenihen was mentioned is because we are crying out for a rugged put a name on the ball centre half right now. One who will lead by example, gee up and bollock his team mates and keeper non of which this current lot do, it's all about character now not nice guy football.
  17. But he'd argue the crowds wouldn't double and the matchday costs would increase so revenue would take a hit. That's what we are dealing with, a defeatist.
  18. After being here how long ? Hyam won't be here next season i can almost guarantee it and at least Lenihens heart was in it whilst he was here.
  19. No it really isn't if you actually read what i said and i'd take a committed player any day over one who goes through the motions.
  20. The owners financial support is supposed to help us compete that's the whole idea of it and same for most clubs in this league. We can't outspend the big ones but we should be able to compete with the other two thirds of the league and we mostly were until the downgrading started again. So you have to draw conclusions that this white flag hoister doesn't want to compete he wants to shrink it all because it's easier to do that.
  21. He gets that from a few people because leaders are supposed to lead and captains are supposed to do that, by example if not verbally but there is nothing from him. They can all look good when the going is good and the whole side is gelling but in times of adversity the senior pros need to stand up and be counted. His nut goes down way too easily imo.
  22. You could argue the same about this lad and at least he had bags of commitment.
  23. I'd rather have Lenihen than Hyam. Don't get me wrong i think Dom is probably the better player on his day but not sure he's a much better defender as Darragh was more agricultural and you need at least one of those in there. Doesn't throw himself around like perhaps we need at the min but if he's not 100% then he can't help that. Van Hecke was raw and naive at times as to be expected for a kid but he showed more commitment for a loan player than several of these lot put together when it came to putting his body on the line.
  24. Well if we are still bringing them in of agency books who already have players here there isn't much point having a recruitment dept either !
