Jon Dahl Tomasson - Sweden coach
tomphil replied to Tom's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
A case of weak management because he can't handle senior pros with strong characters here ? Or strong management because he don't take no crap and it's his way or the highway, who knows but we've seen similar before with Kean and Bowyer. Nice lads only need apply except now it's nice kids only. -
They were £20 they'd already advertised it before it was changed.

If he was pointing out some of the same things the fans are then good on him. as club captain and senior pro he's every right to air his views. He was hardly sabotaging anything as things have been bad for ages, most of the season if you look at the home form. And we were worse on Saturday and he isn't here now. -

Well anyone who was at Wigan away under Ince might disagree, iv'e seen a lot of football and that was a thrown game if iv'e ever seen one. Saturday was worse but that was down to the fact we are the weakest team in the division physically and being dragged down by a silly style of football that plays directly into exposed our weaknesses. What was standout though which hasn't really been the case recently was the lack of fight, spirit and effort bar a couple. There was no togetherness nor desire and that goes for the technical area as well. It was way more than just another bad day at the office it was a white flag scenario. -

I feared that was the case the ground between him and Travis has never been smooth but it's hard to know who is calling it straight. Knowing a lot of fans are angry JDT hints that it's financial and puts it onto the club and player but no one there comes out and says the Head Coach didn't feel he was up to it and he wanted to go. Truth will be somewhere in the middle but either way a very important and experienced squad member has been bombed out at a crucial stage of the season. I'm finding it harder and harder to back Tomasson over this past week or so despite understanding he's had the rug pulled and what he's up against. Travis no matter what your opinion has been here years and hes lived and breathed Rovers and is very much the kind of character needed when it's backs to the wall. -

Apparently we have to cut our cloth and not risk any boom and bust for fear of ending up in financial trouble .... Hmmm ok then i can see we are prospering on field and off it by taking such an approach. -
The main point here is the Indian govt are clearly going after Vs and the like to try and stop them exporting money, that's the core issue. They've whacked the levy up on overseas cash transfer and found things in the VH accounts that have given them opportunity to go a step further and freeze sending money here without prior clearance. So even if they were cleared of any wrong doing as just oversights it isn't going to go away. The Indian authorities want it stopped or massively reduced and they want that money invested/taxed over there instead. So there is still a massive ongoing and future problem here. Can't see how they are going to get around this without special dispensation to send 10/20 million every year forever.

Which says to me this much vaunted new recruitment set up is still going down the road of taking players offered by club friendly agents as the easy option. -

He's been linked here for several years now and iv'e not seen anything in him to get exited about. However i think we have to conclude he'd be more use to have around than Ennis and i'm told he's pressing type fwd though don't know if that's right. Mind you that's a great way to describe a non goal scoring striker who runs around a lot i suppose. He'd probably cost over ten grand per week to loan in as well so maybe not worth it in the grand scheme of things. -
'Because fans don't turn up we've no money' Seen that so many times it's beyond ridiculous now they seem to have no concept of the club they support or the town it's in. Ask them when we ever got crowds like many others do in this league and they'll say 'in the Prem they turn up'. Absolutely no idea what it took to get crowds to those levels at this club and that was a unique period in recent history. They won't acknowledge that it was the arrival of this ownership and Kean and Anderson that lead to the vast drop off. Won't acknowledge that the gates we get are standard for this club in this town at this level just cry because the likes of Ipswich and Norwich get more. It doesn't seem to register PNE get similar from season tickets 100 quid cheaper and they used to get less from a bigger place. And Dingles struggle to shift 18k home tickets regularly in the Prem ! Just don't understand the basic historical facts or acknowledge why people have major issues with the ownership because they are too young to know.

I'd rather the court and the Indian govt grant them leeway to meet the commitments but tell them in no uncertain terms this can't continue indefinitely. Therefore advising that selling the club under the correct process is the only way forwards. Or fund it correctly with whatever personal wealth they surely have stacked overseas in tax havens somewhere !
-
Yes i keep seeing people on here and elsewhere blaming Indian Tax law changes but the is NOT the sole reason for the mess. They've been stopped from sending money because they are under investigation for something rather serious i'e misuse of funds intended for the football club !!! Infuriating that most don't know or want to know the true facts and always look for an excuse not to blame the owners.

Why the hell did he come all the way up here in the first place ? This signing stinks the place out i'm not having it that it was just some cheap gamble by Broughton that hasn't paid off, far from it. It's either yet another monumental F -up or something a bit more dodgy it has all the vibes of Goodwille nd Stokes deals. Albeit without the fee but a lengthy contract double previous wages and nice signing on fee or however they do it here. Come up, can't be arsed, out of shape, never fit then get moved on and paid off. Stinks. -

We do the same pre match routine every game we've done for 10 years now it never changes apart from briefly under Lambert, -

Agree but the point is certain players just like managers fit certain teams and clubs at the right moment and i think Travis and Gally will/would thrive at Ipswich. Not that long ago even under Venkys not many players thrived when they left here but recently that is doing a 360 and that is very worrying. -
