Smallwood has had a bright start to this game so far, fair play to him.
-
Don’t really understand why Bell was dropped for Williams... don’t recall him being that poor against Brentford. The rest of the lineup not all that surprising. A bit harsh for Nyambe to miss out on a starting spot again.
-
You’re exactly right that both are gambles. We don’t know the exact finances involved in either the BB deal or the never completed Assambalonga deal, but Mowbray has given his reasons for taking a gamble with one and not the other and his reasoning makes sense to me. For what it’s worth I think Ben has been rubbish so far and I would have loved Britt to be here instead. But I’ve seen enough of the current team this season to not be bothered by it, as I think they can hold their own against any team in the division.

What does the club not scouting outside of the UK have anything to do with my post?
-
Ben is likely on a reasonable wage with us though that fits into our wage structure. The money paid up front is not the full 7m, and at 19 years of age if he develops into a quality striker then it would have been a good investment. With Assambalonga it sounds like the issue is with wages. If he’s on 50k per week as some people were saying then that’s nuts, and TM is 100% right not to spend break the existing wage structure like that. I’m sure Gallagher would have happened if Southampton were actually willing to sell or let him go on loan.

I think that is our best team as well. Although Bennett and Nyambe are interchangeable in that position. We have decent cover throughout the team that way as well. The only area that we look light in is defence and hopefully we make some signings to address that. I’m still not convinced by Bell, once again he looked like he has the makings of a great full back today but his decision making was off.

Millwall away Saturday 12th Jan kick off 17.30

Fantastic win - to score 2 goals in quick succession late on to secure all 3 points must be a major morale boost for the whole squad. Given how many times we’ve been on the other end of late goals ourselves this season. Millwall’s hoofball made it a really awful game to watch. Other than our 2 goals not a lot else happened of note all game. On another note, I’ve personally given up on Bell. He was dreadful today and I rarely see him do well. A new left back is priority for me. -

beIN Sports in Australia? Doesn't seem to be any live stream on bet365 either. -

I thought it was great to see a third of the match day squad consisting of academy players. Nuttall's form for the U23s surely deserved a chance and TM is really brave here to give him that chance now leaving the likes of Armstrong, Brereton and Graham on the bench. -
I’d be concerned if we went back in for Chapman. He’s had numerous injury setbacks already this season, not sure if he’s currently fit to play at all.

My guess is that TM was not happy with the penalty he gave away. After all the talk about not throwing games away he went and put in a stupid challenge. We've also gone 4-4-2 now, so maybe it was tactical. -

Our right flank is a worry. Bennett is on a yellow and Barnes is their danger man and proving hard to contain. Who do we have that can come on though? -

2-0!! That was about as cool as you like from Dack! Brilliant by Armstrong to set him up as well. Surely we're not going to collapse at 2-0 up now.. -

He looks like the real deal to me. That midfield slot should be his to lose now. I'd be livid if he got sent out on loan. Same old story for the first half... doing everything right so far, but final ball is lacking. Tbf Graham has had 2 good chances that he could have put away. Maybe a game for Palmer, Rothwell or BB to come on and be the hero. -

Graham should have scored then. Started well so far. -
For me, TM has been the best and most likeable manager since Mark Hughes. He’s also assembled the most committed and likeable team we’ve had in years and so I am desperate for them to do well. Obviously if the results continue to be poor and it looks like we are going backwards we should look to make a change, but I don’t think we are anywhere near that stage yet. What I can say is that every game we’ve gone into under Mowbray I am excited about and feel we can win, and in terms of our play that has proven to be the case this season. Other than maybe a couple of games where we have been torrid, we have competed well against the best teams in the division. In a lot of cases we have picked up great wins or draws, but as of late we have been on the end of frustrating losses instead. It has been incredibly frustrating watching games at times this past month, but I don’t yet get the feeling things are beyond repair. Instead this feels like a bad spell that’s come after overachieving early in the season. What’s clear is that we need a defensive shake up as we now have one of the worst defensive records in the championship. I’m hoping for quality recruitments in that area of the pitch in January.

Sheffield United vs Blackburn Rovers: 29th December 2018

Agree 100%. Seriously don't understand what people are expecting from Mowbray here. Every capitulation we've had has been from ludicrous individual mistakes. The players have to take some responsibility. IMO more questions need to be asked of Mulgrew. He is the captain, he is the one that should be organising the defence and rallying the players on the pitch. For all 3 goals he looked like a deer in the headlights, and all 3 goals came down his side of the pitch. His body language after every goal is one of resignation and defeat, it's just not good enough. The captain needs to be firing up his players and spurring them on. It's not the first time this season I've seen this from him. He gets away with far too much because of his free kicks. -
