  1. the problem with his softly softly evolutionary approach is that by the time he has bought a few more pieces of his jigsaw someone else has nicked all the bits he has put together - itll never come to fruition and maybe he doesn't want it to- he's not good enought to manage at a level above and I suspect he knows it...
  2. middling muddled meddlesome mediocre mid table mowbray muck off PLEASE
  3. honestly this team should be good enough for the play offs but you could give Mowbray 100million and he would never get us there - needs to go but it wont happen
  4. ffs - douglas should be off off 3 at back downing left wing back - keep round pegs in round holes - - he is the most bizarre tactician
  5. Im probably the only person on here who:- thought it was a penalty thought it was a crap penalty anyway I eagerly await plan B
  6. We have been totally worked out - press us stop the sideways pitty patty and there is no plan b c d e f g h etc - hang on eait for 5 subs at 60 mins....
  7. yes I remember him as seriously good player in an excellent Villa team - the only other beards that come to mind immediatelyaround then were Frank Lampard and Bob Latchford - im sure there must have been others..
  8. The Keith Fear thing always makes me smile - got on to the Longside 20 mins late Rovers 2 up - no one could see much and everyone around saying Jack Lewis is unrecognisable today - they hadn't realised we had signed Fear on loan - from that distance they looked similar !
  9. Not sure about Dack on the left of a 3 there - doesn't have Tony Parkes' work rate - not sure how he would gel with Mckenzie either. Kaminski might be as good as Arnold and Nyambe v Branagan might be close. Mick Rathbone - yes every time!
  10. Is the bearded Villa player Dennis Mortimer? there weren''t as many beards around in those days!
  11. Wasnt that Stevie Kindon walks on water tra la lala lah the b*****d sank ?
  12. I think that was before the reorganisation of the NHS - I always heard it as F******g ambulance though I prefer your version - just needs a mission statement after along the lines of 'patient professional and caring ' or some such twaddle
  13. With apologies to our younger viewers and acknowledgement to Victorian musical hall ditties... Oh Mr Mowbray what shall we do We are in need of a decent left back But we have loaned him back to Crewe If you need an explanation Im sure Tyrone or some of our senior members will explain...
  14. For me I always thought he was slightly better than Shilton - more athletic and quicker though Shilts went on too long -lots of You Tube Vids for those that havent seen him About 10s in....RIP no age
  15. What I cannot cannot cannot understand is that I rememberMowbray as a tough uncompromising centre half - no nonsense no messing yet in his time here he has not engendered that into any of his defenders - its almost as if he wanted to be something else and can't accept it - totally weird....
  16. The Pedersen strike was technically excellent - the Mk 1 version was a more than useful player.... We could have a separate thread for Tugay all on his own........
  17. True but my other abding memory was him heading over from underneath the crossbar at the BBE but cant remember who against..... That could be another thread - biggest misses by a Rovers player.......
  18. I was in BBE at the time and was fairly sure he sliced it in off his foot but could be mistaken - with Beamo you were never sure which anatomical part it was coming off other than the likelihood of it missing by some distance........ ?
