A very entertaining afternoon for those who bothered to attend. Abstainers have missed a treat. -

Digital tickets not a problem for them it seems. -
That *was* the January Window

Supporting a football team is about being patient and waiting for the good times which, unless you’re one of the mega clubs, rarely come around for most of us. Most of the time we put up with mediocrity, which makes a winning run so special and lifts the spirits. We need to support the club through thick and thin, even if it means that we have to put up with a lot of disappointment. This doesn’t mean we should be happy all the time with owners, players, managers execs etc., but remain loyal in the hope that things turn in our favour. I will be there on Saturday supporting the players who represent the football club that has given me so much pleasure, and heartache, since I was a young boy. -
That *was* the January Window

A number of players have recently signed new or extended contracts with the Rovers. That to me suggests they are happy with how JDT treats them and how he wants to play. There’s an old adage in football that you shouldn’t keep players who have asked for a transfer, it never works out, nor does suggesting that they rot in the reserves as fans often call for. I’m with JDT on this one. -

Never mind talk about getting a centre forward in during the January window, we desperately need a decent keeper as No. 1 priority. -
Villa were brilliant tonight, they battered City and should have won 4 - 0.

That was the ultimate breakaway goal, brilliant. -

This is like watching Mowbray’s sit back and hold onto what we’ve got tactics. -
The only plus point about these international breaks is that we don’t need to worry about Rovers losing.

Waggot’s ban on opening the Blackburn End may be a wise move. The wind is blowing rain straight onto the seats. Sitting there would have been horrendous. Just saying… -
Thyrys has really gone into his shell, and I’m left wondering if there are off-field issues affecting his performances. He used to play with a big smile on his face, now he seems miserable and not playing with an ounce of the enthusiasm of his first two seasons. Either that or he’s had his head turned by agents, and is in a sulk because he didn’t get a move this summer.

My view is that the team need supporting to the hilt while the game is going on. Anything that detracts from this doesn’t help the players at all.

Well this topic has died a quick death as the hoped for bankruptcy of Venkys and the jailing of the family has failed to materialise. No point wasting energy on being angry, they ain’t going anywhere. Nearly every football clubs’ fans dislike their owners, we’re no different. In my memory, Jack Walker is the only owner Rovers’ fans have ever liked.

The ultra nationalist Indian government has joined the other similar governments in China and Russia in anti West foreign policy. It’s all part of the BRIC group, who were all over the news last month, attempting to show how tough they are on foreigners. No doubt those who are enjoying watching Modi bashing the Venkys will approve, even though it affects the immediate funding at BRFC.

v Walsall (h) - 8/8/23 - Carabao Cup R1

A thoroughly enjoyable game on a great evening for football. Gilsenan a class above the rest for me, absolute quality player. -
It’ll move up a couple of places with the teams in it next season, Leeds, Leicester, Sheffield Wed.

Dundee are my second team after Rovers, and the line is that they wanted a manager who had experience of the SPL after the relegation last time they were in it. Callum Davidson fits the bill and is available. Harsh, but that’s life in pro football.

Bradley Dack - Twist or Stick?
Giant replied to bigbrandjohn's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The bonus of Dacky leaving is that it’s a sign that JDT doesn’t rate him good enough for Championship football post the injuries and is staying at Rovers. Sad that he doesn’t seem to have recovered to anything like his previous level, but the club have to be ruthless in what is a cutthroat business. No room for sentiment. -
I can’t believe anyone could possibly think that BBD is anywhere near as good a footballer as Damian Duff. Dear oh dear!

End of season report
Giant replied to Proudtobeblue&white's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
For me a good season. We’ve missed the playoffs on GD, had two great cup runs in which we’ve beaten PL teams and had some bad luck in the last few games. I will be gutted if JDT leaves because, in a first season in English football, he has done a remarkably good job with limited resources. -

That’s a brilliant set of tunes. -
Excellent achievement for Gary Bowyer in his first season in Scottish football as manager of Dundee FC. Champions after beating Owen Coyle’s Queens Park in the title decider tonight in an 8 goal thriller. He’ll be pitting his wits against Celtic and Rangers next season. Well done, Gary.

As long as Pep stays at City, no other team will win the PL.
