Leicester will struggle this season. They had a horrible end to last season and are weaker now. That said that was very encouraging from Rovers. Fisher had horror moments which kill any prospects of a career but his distribution was mostly excellent. Bell looked very decent Nyambe outstanding- he will be a PL player Williams very solid but Magliore was superb against Vardy. Not seen him before but as others have said probably the best of the trio emerging; Carter sadly gets done for pace- not Tyler Magliore! Another anonymous Johnson performance, Travis more interested than in other friendiles but Buckley and Davenport were outstanding when they came on. Lovely cameo from Chapman but the tackling back by Dolan was something else. Star of the show was JRC- he is going to be one hell of a player for us this season.

Fisher butter fingers
-
Dumb substitutions. Just as JRC is really showing.
-
Agreed totally. Looking forward to 2nd half- that's put the mockers on things!

Cheer up- just 8 more pages of comments to go and we've done our bit to get another signing. Just reading your one liner saved me from looking at the last 20 pages. An inch is as good as a mile if we missed signing Roy Keane, Zidaine, Bobby Baggio, Lewandowski and (this summer) Messi... I know I unload on Mowbray a lot but got to say the professional football players seem to have as positive an image of him as I do. We simply don't attract our targets.
-
I missed Holtby out by mistake so 12. And I think you can only call JRC, Vale, Buckley and Butterworth true Academy graduates.
-
So we have Dolan who looks a flyer, a flying keeper and a kid from Celtic. Sold nobody. Have I missed anything?

Villa carry on over paying. -
Gallagher was signed as a Brereton replacement or cover for the Brereton first season embarrassment if we are being realistic and was then pushed into playing totally out of position. Gallagher for me is the mistake Brereton is firmly in the don't know column. What we are seeing now is a world removed from the 19 year old we signed. The Blackpool goals suggest there is another level to Ben's game which we hopefully will see this season. I have no idea how you fit Armstrong, Brereton, Gallagher, Dack, Rothwell, Dolan, JRC together let alone Vale, Buckley,Butterworth, Chapman. Yet at the back, we cannot find a first level back up or even a reliable first choice. This is inexcusable from Mowbray who has had three and a half seasons to mould a squad and created an odd job set of all-sorts he is relying on to.be flexible enough to play out of position.

I am delighted we beat Doncaster- don't get me wrong. But trademark Mowbray is 1) over think and over compensate for the opposition pre-match so put out a confused and disjointed Rovers starting team which never gets going in the first half 2) under think what the opposition manager is going to do at HT 3) be pretty rigid about timing and personnel for substitutions

I would hang in there on Kipre. Given where we are in football's pecking order, we have little choice in the matter. Clear as day that WBA want somebody else

Reading this thread, I feel fully justified in having zero faith in Mowbray. I would love to see our current crop of players under different management. It would probably be a revelation. -
Going to have to plug away to get a result.
-
On Saturday we went from 1-0 up to 1-2 inside 10 minutes of the restart. Come on, don't tell me it is uncommon for Rovers to emerge from the dug out looking like they don't have a game plan beyond holding it steady and the opposition manager has very effectively shifted things around to exploit our weaknesses.
-
Yet again v Doncaster, Mowbray comprehensively lost the HT team talk to the opposition boss. Between a third and a half of all Rovers team talks result in Rovers being out thought and out fought in the second half.
-
Posting to jolly this along towards 400 pages which will trigger the next signing.

The one indisputable fact from yesterday. The Doncaster Rovers half time team talk was a gazillion times better than Mowbray's. -
