  1. Magloire put in a decent shift in Rovers' 3-1 win over Leicester Friday night before being subbed on 75. Contained a dangerous Leicester forward line pretty well. Isn't Hart injured currently?
  2. Rovers paid City £1m for the season long loan of Tosin. There is no recall clause apparently so they would have to pay serious compensation to negotiate a recall.
  3. Agreed. He was clearly intimidated by the crowd and was giving nonsensical fouls against Rovers (at one point, any ball won by Lenihan was getting penalised) and allowing all kinds of subterfuge by Bristol City to go unpunished. For the foul count to be 16 each when Bristol turned into one of the dirtiest sides we have faced says it all. The yellow card for Gallagher was for a nothing tap when there were at least five yellow card challenges by Bristol City players. It also seems everybody except the officials saw an elbow smash by Lee Johnson on a Rovers coach then threw the ball after the half time whistle yet Johnson wasn't cautioned again for either incident.
  4. This is the jinxes everything post but suppose we make it to the play-offs and win them. Then what??? Top half of Premier League class: - Bottom half of Premier League class: Tosin, Lenihan, Dack Not Premier League class but one or two might pleasantly surprise us if given the chance: Walton Nyambe Cunningham Bell (yes I know but the kid has talent to spare) Travis Gallagher Brereton (still very young) Butterworth Rankin-Costello Mols Fisher Could hack a game or two without letting the side down: Williams Johnson Evans Downing Not Premier League class/ need either wrapping up for return to Championship or shipping out: Mulgrew Bennett Rothwell Armstrong (they are all quick in the Prem) Graham (tempus fugit) Lieutweiler Too far off to venture an opinion on: The rest
  5. Had a look at Brentford 1 Fulham 0 expecting to see a Raya master show. In fact the Fulham keeper performed heroics keeping the score to 1-0.
  6. Cracking win for Accy yesterday. Morecambe will be extremely fortunate not to finish 92nd though. Probably to be replaced by Barrow.
  7. Oh come on, that second half was a complete performance.
  8. I'm in hysterics here- thanks for a load of belly laughs. The diet has appreciated it. Somehow I no longer feel hungry... All the best to Mrs OB for a speedy and full recovery.
  9. Just watched the Rhodes hattrick- doubt you will see a better trio of goals all season.
  10. One thing I will say is that I never heard even the faintest whisper of Mowbray losing the dressing room. Yes he acted decisively shipping out Charlie Mulgrew, but even after the Prestojn game when I was convinced he should go, the players were solidly with him. That doesn't detract from the reality of being ten points worse off than we should be had Mowbray not got things so horribly wrong against Charlton, Luton, QPR and Preston. We can get away with horrible long runs in the Championship but we ain't going up and certainly not staying up with these sorts of prolonged patches of defeats.
  11. I will put my hand up- that was my post at 2.55 yesterday (Blackburn time)
  12. I would be tempted to stick with the same eleven for Wigan knowing that we are going to be starting 18 different players over the Christmas period. That performance yesterday was so exceptional I'd give that eleven the opportunity of an encore at Ewood.
  13. The 4-4-2 against Bristol City worked a treat.
  14. Let's just concentrate on avoiding a Wigan banana skin. Rovers' history is littered with games at Ewood where we know exactly how high we would leap up the table if only... For Leeds and West Brom, victory next weekend will give them a very substantial cushion. For Fulham, anything less than a win and the most talented squad in the Championship can kiss automatic promotion goodbye.
  15. Accepting we have a long term transfer strategy, I am looking for signings who could do a job for us in the Premier League.
  16. That was a complete performance against a very good side. Bristol City are as low as they are because of an horrific run of injuries they are recovering from. Yes we were very fortunate not to concede twice but three other scoring chances they carved out were denied by superb defensive work plus an exceptional Walton save. Notable Casey Palmer not even in their squad... The second half in particular was a supreme performance from the team almost totally nullifying Bristol City in every aspect of the game. One game but that looked like a promotion outfit out there and I cannot think I have felt that way about any game in the Championship since 2001. Walton made me feel completely comfortable about seeing him in goal for the first time this season, Bell showed there is a great left back under that laconic demeanour at long last, Johnson immense, Lenihan even immenser (not a word but it is how I feel), Bennett deployed where his strengths are best used and the lad showed he knows his limitations so didn't try what he can't do, Holtby showed today why he has those German caps, Travis energy and skill fabulous. Nyambe continues to display form which points to him.becoming a fabulous wing back. I also think we saw a glimpse of a £12m future up front. Pairing Gallagher and Brereton worked. Gallagher was the unsung hero working all across the front line looking dangerous whenever on the ball and was veritably the first line of defense when we were out of possession. Brereton had a few moments we all despair of but he also did many things to confound the view he isn't a footballer. Two final points. 1) A poster rightly observed Johnson raised his arms in celebration before Armstrong had scored. He raised his arms in celebration after looking at the linesman having seen he had played the ball before Arma could go offside! 2) What do you do with Dack Downing Evans Rothwell and Graham? That eleven yesterday deserve another start.
  17. I discredited Mowbray with 4 defeats. Well this is one chalked off emphatically. Mowbray put out a fabulous team this afternoon. I have watched more Championship football than is good for anyone's sanity and I haven't seen any club put on a more complete performance than Rovers this afternoon. It was that good.
  18. Thought Pereira and Nagy looked good for Bristol City.
  19. Already tasty. This isn't finishing 11 v 11
  20. For all the Bristol City chances, we are up 4-1 in strikes on target.
  21. Brilliant from Travis there. Been encouraged by Brereton so far.
  22. So many chances in this game to both sides
