  1. Latest statements from all parties look terrible for the future of the club. There is brinkmanship then there is this which suggests none of the putative buying parties were ever anything other than chancers.
  2. I might be dreaming it but Mowbray has indicated same again. With Bowen on the right it probably makes sense to have two natural left footers but Eaves might require the height of Tosin to nullify him- assuming Tosin has recovered. Saw extended highlights of a strong Hull performance at Brentford with Grosicky and Bowen firing on all cylinders when going forward. Over all I would say Hull look a much better balanced outfit than the rabbles we doubled last season so nobody should be thinking this will be an easy fixture. They look vulnerable to well organised counters down the flanks but make up for that by crowding the ball in the middle. Got a feeling this will be decided by how many misplaced passes we make coming out from the back. Any more than obligatory 3 each from Bennett and Williams and we will be in trouble. Doubt either Brereton or Smallwood will make the bench again.
  3. 50% of the post match chat has disappeared. We are only on page 23 whereas the Fulham and Charlton threads had reached well past page 30 by now.
  4. Cardiff have had more shots on target - agreed it should have been 5-0; missed penalty and keeper one-on-one at the end.
  5. Gallagher was immense- I was totally wrong about him.
  6. Statistics seem to be weirdly inaccurate this season. Rovers scored one, one saved, two blocked on the line by George Friend. Shots on target 2 To more important things and Gallagher looks far more of a footballing brain wide on the right than Armstrong ever does. Just hopes DG is not subbed too early because this is working.
  7. Wouldn't play on Safari so suspended ad blocker on Chrome. Quality of picture seems to be low resolution.
  8. GLAD Lenihan has recovered. Worry that Tosin not fit. Plot as lost as Gallagher will be hugging the touchline.
  9. Just hope there is a result one way or the other so we know where we are- either a thumping win for Rovers or a thumping win for the Smoggies
  10. MULGREW bust up and ejection that afternoon confirmed by multiple sources LENIHAN still conjecture SMALLWOOD toys out of pram at Ewood Tuesday night according to some who saw it GENERAL PLAYER UNEASE seems to be seeping out MOWBRAY increasingly isolated within the club is like a bad smell that won't go away MOWBRAY demeanour haunted- just look at the videos RICH SHARPE exasperation- look at the occasional tweet which goes out when he can't control himself. A classic about positions players being asked to play after the substitutions v Oldham
  11. It has unravelled quite remarkably. He had the funds and the support to build a team which could give us an entertaining season at the very least. He had the opportunity to clear the decks of deadwood. Three games into the Season, all we have is ?????? Football is a simple game. Mowbray has to go simple again picking a squad playing in their right positions as far as possible so he cannot get bashed for it. Pick the best eleven you have got, don't over think the opposition and give the lads the tactics which will bring the best out of them. The last thing we or the players need are heroic brain waves..
  12. Sadly apparently so. Will be interesting if we get a repeat of the haunted look on Thursday he had in the Oldham pre-match presser.
  13. Cannot even begin to offer a line up Mowbray will pick. I hope Lenihan is a bust up with Mowbray because another rumour I heard suggests it is a big problem with his knee. Tosin being out as well will give us a back four of Bennett Nyambe Williams and Cunningham. All in all expecting Keystone Cops from two very out of sorts teams.
  14. In all fairness, Rovers' two young centre backs are just out of picture to the right but with three Oldham players breaking towards them they are covering space rather than runners. The scorer just carried the ball unchallenged from that point striking an accurate screamer from 25 yards rather than risking taking it into the box. We'd had 75% possession to that point and were pushing up again ploddingly when Buckley (2nd to bottom of Rovers running back) received a diagonal backwards hospital pass from Smallwood which the Oldham player in the bottom of picture intercepted and immediately played through to the guy who ran on and scored.
  15. Ajax pulled through after a wobble. But some regular Group appearance clubs like Basel went as well as Porto.
  16. Concerns: - very sensible to see if Platt and Grayson would make the mark BUT select either ONE alongside a first choice CD OR BOTH with first choice GK, LB and RB and at least Travis in front of them. After Mulgrew going, it smells of desperation. - OK give one of Evans and Smallwood a run but not together because the rhythm and pace of the side is killed if you do - yes give Buckley a game but in his proper position etc etc - unfortunately that's just Oldham but we are getting these schoolboy selection and tactical errors every game Brave decision to ship out Raya BUT it doesn't give you any leeway to fall out with a senior player like Mulgrew. One senior player being blasted out happens, two is getting careless. - I bet dressing room morale has cratered after the way Mulgrew was shipped out Getting a big brute central defender was the one and only PRIORITY for the last window. All else nice to haves. FAILED WHERE IT MATTERED Mowbray has a habit of bouncing back with a thumping home win against a fancied club and going on a good run of wins. He needs to do that against Boro but recent appearances and reported statements look haunted to me. When Rich Sharpe is clearly tweeting tongue in cheek about managerial decisions, you know the Manager is struggling badly.
  17. Very pleasant surprise to see the final score. Reading through this the message is nobody is ready to step up and our salvation is Dack and Graham. Mowbray's gamble ruled options out and probably damaged everyone involved.
  18. : #Rovers 0-1 #oafc With that change Nyambe has moved to centre-back with John Buckley now operating at right-back. No comment
  19. Crikey Oldham have won more corners than us and we still haven't had a shot on target
  20. Some seriously big clubs at imminent risk of getting knocked out at the third qualifying round stage this evening. ... and Celtic of course
