Blackburn Rovers Rovers Under-23s: Fisher, Annesley, Platt, Magloire, Thompson, White, Lyons, Butterworth, Chapman, Nuttall, Samuel. Southport include ex-#Rovers pair Charlie Albinson and Jack Doyle in their side.

I will again be paying match by match. Too many games I cannot be sure of viewing to make a subscription worthwhile.

Not in the least contradictory. 1) The window lasts to 8 August, not yesterday. I have always argued for a beast of a central defender being our most pressing need this window but there are 11 and a half days to go before we need to start closing the over bridges on the M65 to prevent Rovers fans leaping off them. 2) In the same spirit of there being 11 and a half days before we have failed to sign the central defender we need, there are eleven and a half days for at least ten Premier League managers to escape the pressures their lack of acquisitions this summer are creating for them. Idiotic not to be alive to the risks that poses. I am feeling particularly uncomfortable about Bruce at Newcastle.

At this stage of the window, we have to be absolute a-holes on the price. At least £20m for Dack. I know I got clobbered for reporting a private conversation at Man U but for all the noise from Old Trafford, they have done remarkably little business and that squad needs a radical sorting out.

Just seen the Sky highlights of all Prem and Champ friendlies except one (yes, our's) including Leicester and Leicester under 23s! Some take aways. Bristol City- oh dear, they will be hoping they got rid of a season's worth of defensive calamities in one pre-season horror show. Brentford- all three goals conceded were down to Raya mistakes. He also laid out an opposition forward with a misdirected kick. Fulham and Watford both playing in halves this season. Shawcross injury at Stoke looks a horror.

Saw the highlights of Charlton's 4-1 home friendly defeat (their goal was a rather fortunate penalty). Charlton's defence looks disjointed and slow. So we need the pace we have in the squad from kick-off. Not starting with both Rothwell and Armstrong on the pitch would be criminal. Chapman on the subs bench too.

I will post my real fear about this window. Look at Premier League transfer action, or lack of it. At least half the clubs are leaving their moves to very late. We are far from out of danger on Lenihan and Dack.
-
I saw the one Raya let in behind closed doors against Norwich reserves and was shocked. Routine shot to left corner of the net from unmarked forward at knee height from centre left just outside the box which he could see all the way. Those are ones you could put your house on Raya stopping last season. He didn't even get remotely near it.

I will state the obvious. When the window closes on 8 August is the time to draw preliminary judgement on this window. As things stand today, we are one of very few non-Premier League clubs with net transfer outgoings and the players in are on paper the equal of (goalkeeper) or better (outfield) in terms of reasonably expected performance capability during 2019/20 than the players who have left. Yes I am all for development and future prospects but I'd be ecstatic to get another couple of Premier League loanees who make the difference between promotion or not whom we could sign permanently for £10m to £15m once we are in the Premier League. Two such defenders would be heaven. Right now it is season 2019/20 that matters. In the next 12 days, we can expect the transfer merry go round to pick up although my expectation now is that the supporters of at least half the clubs in the Football League will be looking at a very meagre window indeed when it shuts. We should not be one of those profoundly disappointed clubs (although we know at least 25% of Rovers fans will be moaning come what may) but in a sticky market, players stick so our targets might not be signable for any number of reasons. You could imagine a few League One managements cursing their luck at the strong close season form of at least three Rovers youngsters who will not now be going out on loan.

This.

It is not duff to the extent that most of the 24 clubs are not doing very well in this window and most clubs' supporters' are spitting tacks. I think I have made my point.
-
Rodwell hadn't left at that point- I think it was only confirmed yesterday.

Thanks for compiling an up-to-date list.

Just wanted to look at the rest of the Championship given Wigan were quoted to see how everyone else is doing. These numbers include loans. An awful lot of released unemployed footballers out there. A huge amount of business to be done yet. IN-OUT CLUB 7 7 Barnsley 1 7 Birmingham City (includes Jota and Adams for big sums) 4 4 ROVERS 5 5 Brentford (only Konse of their crown jewels has gone) 4 10 Bristol City (includes Kelly gone for £12m) 3 4 Cardiff City 5 10 Charlton Athletic (includes two contract expiries they would have wanted to keep) 1 7 Derby County 1 4 Fulham 5 9 Huddersfield Town 2 6 Hull City 4 6 Leeds United 2 6 Luton Town 1 5 Middlesbrough 2 10 Millwall 4 10 Nottingham Forest 1 7 Preston North End 7 7 Queens Park Rangers 1 9 Reading 1 8 Sheffield Wednesday 7 3 Stoke City 0 8 Swansea City (includes James for £15m) 1 6 West Bromwich Albion 0 8 Wigan Athletic If I were a Brum, Luton, Swansea or Wigan fan I'd be very worried.

The LT today not saying anything different from last Monday. The City youngster expected, perhaps another defender as well. No mention of a bonus keeper. There will be outgoings to reduce the squad to manageable proportions. Nuttall probably to Accrington Stanley on loan initially. I'd far rather see the likes of Buckley and Rankin-Costello staying, even Hart given the lack of cover we have at the back. I would be indifferent to Evans leaving and think Smallwood moving on the best for player and club.
-
Reading the LT on squad size, Rodwell definitively described as having left Rovers.
-
Any sign of the Man City giant?
-
Has a thread reached 1,000 pages before?
-
Agreed. I am unconvinced by the two keepers we are rumoured to be getting but let's see what transpires.
-
read that thread, even when he was sold, and that is nothing compare with the stick he was given during the second half of last season on brfcs.com
-
I was one of those most unhappy about Raya going but well over half the message board are asserting Raya cost us at least ten goals and several points last season, convinced he disrupted the defence through poor communication, made rubbish decisions and flapped at every cross. In short, they were insistent he be shipped out and they got their wishes fulfilled.

None of the video clips show the ball in the air so the answer is don't know... Strengths seem to be very clean (just one yellow card as a central defender!) Uses his long legs to devastating effect in dispossessing opponents Explosive sort distance pace Decent ball distribution.

Missing my point. We are within FFP but it needs careful management. If Venky's weren't still pouring the cash into Rovers, FFP would be the very least of our worries. Ask Bolton and Bury fans what that feels like rather than the paranoia filling the last 490 pages of this thread.
