  1. I am being realistic- expecting less than 50 goals against from 46 games requires an exceptional defence. I am simply looking for a defence which does its job. As others have pointed out, getting a strong defence does not prevent someone else from tucking away penalties. For that matter having a commanding physical presence at the back usually means the same player can cause mayhem when we have a corner so that could compensate for losing Mulgrew's four goals direct from corners which I agree are something very special. Had we conceded 50 rather than 69 last season with GF 64 GA 50, we would almost certainly made the play-offs. Hence arguing that defensive signings are the measure of this window.
  2. I am only interested in defenders. We already have plenty good enough in midfield and up front to be a menace in this division but that goals against column has to drop by 20.
  3. Conway replaced by Downing. A sizeable step up in quality at any age in their respective careers.
  4. If you were to offer the best time for Charlton to have a chance of winning at Ewood- it would undoubtedly be first game of the season following the Robbins' promotion. That is indisputable. Doesn't invalidate the fact we should beat them by a good margin but it is the worst possible time to play them...
  5. Personally there is no way I want to know Rovers' budget and the less I know about our targets until they sign their contract with Rovers the better too. The same goes for all of you if you are really honest with yourselves.
  6. All sell on clauses were traded in for immediate cash- at a discount against their face value, obviously.
  7. A commanding central defender is my essential. One or two other defenders great to have. Anything else a bonus for the simple reason of the extent of talent coming through from the youth set-up. As an established Championship side, we should be a more attractive proposition than last summer. If Dack/Lenihan go, I hope they go early in the window.
  8. As I pointed out on the other thread, we get a nightmare August and the prospect of three relegation six pointers to finish off with.
  9. That is a stinkingly difficult August. Any newly promoted club arrives playing out of its skin with a healthy away backing. Brum home on Boxing Day not exactly an attractive fixture. Could be finishing with three relegation six pointers...
  10. Isn't the playing surface being completely re-done this summer?
  11. Seriously, forget it. Even if there were no agent funny business at the time of sale, Derek the Shelf liquidated all sell on clauses during his time as Chairman.
  12. Nightmare scenario would be for clubs to get down to their C list at the end of the window and for the bids to come in then for Dack when we have no opportunity to wheel and deal. If Villa interest is subject to Grealish being sold, Grealish is not top of the Spurs' wanted list from what I can see. So an early move for Dack is in our favour. Gives time for Mrs D to dig her heels in in the price too. I notice Man U's only signing so far is a Championship player...
  13. Huge gap in standard between the opposition in Aus and the Championship. No way would he get that amount of time and space for Rovers.
  14. Kee and McConville on their way out of Stanley. Will need some masterful recruitment to keep them in League 1 now.
  15. Funny things Skype, WhatsApp, telephones and Suhail...
  16. If he is fit and wants a glorious Indian summer, we could do worse than have James Morrison in the squad, especially if Rodwell is still undecided.
  17. A-Level Mowbray Language & Literature Key features and benefits Dedicated Summer time wasting 100% A-Level Pass Rate in BS Partnership with Pune chicken sexing This A-Level in Mowbray Language and Literature is an integrated combination of the Football Transfers and Fantasy Budget elements of Mogga, ensuring students get the right imbalance and obsessive coverage of the two disciplines. There will be a fog ridden disabling of students to not see connections between evasion and story-telling methods, and exploring these links in their frustrating uneventful summer. What will I study? Some of the texts that will be studied include: Dracula - blood sucking gothic horror of the undead Jerome Anderson and Philippe Huber Othello - the great but ultimately flawed laid low by Iago Kean The Great Gatsby - F Scott Mowbray's tale of Brereton decadence and Dack obsession Students will study modules including: ‘Telling Stories’ – looking at how transfer stories are created in a range of texts, tweets and Nixon pontifications ‘Remembered Places’ –an anthology of non-fiction texts on the theme of Pune ‘Imagined Worlds’ – signing Stewart Downing in the dystopian novel The Handmaid’s Tale ‘Poetic Voices’ – exploring the creation of ‘poetic voice’ in the own goals of Carol Ann Duffy With apologies to Blackburn College's A-level in in English Literature and Language
  18. Essex makes Blackburn look like a cosmopolitan metropolis.
  19. Agreed about the need for a good start. None of the teams which went on exceptional runs after a poor start - PNE, Hull, Bristol City, QPR and Brum made the play offs. PNE probaby this season's surprise package at the top end and there will be a completely unexpected struggle. Stoke to go down?
