  1. I have absolutely no problem with Mowbray holding the door open for Rodwell. Rodwell has had a rotten few years seeing his footballing dreams destroyed yet if he has been sensible with his money, he needn't ever work again in his life. If his head and heart tell him he wants one more push at fulfilling his football potential, I'd massively prefer he does it at Rovers. He will find getting into the starting eleven a tough ask but we are talking about a player of 28 who was playing for England against Brazil when he was 22.
  2. Most football clubs are to man management that a bucket of water is to a paper bag. Footballers are human beings too and playing at the marzipan level of the Championship are close enough to the icing sugar of the premier League but also in our case, have seen the depths of League 1. I do not begrudge these players their contract extensions and if we sell one or two of them for the odd few £100K then the contracts will have paid for themselves generating transfer income from players who otherwise would have been free agents.
  3. The problem with Danny is that we never know which morning he will wake up and his legs feel like they are wading through blancmange plus he is at an age when recovery from njury is that bit tougher. I seriously hope Danny has another player of the season trophy this time next year but nobody knows when we need a new main man. Gallagher did a very solid job in a terrible season under management which was clueless to be charitable. I wouldn't have prioritised signing Gally but this is the clearest indication possible that the club is looking long term as well as building a very well balanced squad between seniors and prospects.
  4. Welcome back Sam. Football is a squad game and that includes the chemistry between the players.
  5. Net spenders are Cardiff, Stoke and Charlton- Brentford have now moved substantially to net profit. With the acquisition of Gallagher, Rovers are now top of the net spending list. I WILL REPEAT FOR THE HARD OF HEARING, AS OF THIS EVENING ROVERS HAVE SPENT NET MORE THAN ANY OTHER CHAMPIONSHIP CLUB IN THIS WINDOW.
  6. Hanley definitely ruled out from what I understand.
  7. Both Olsson twins are currently free agents and are 31 years old.
  8. All five are in net profit on transfer dealings.
  9. So only four clubs have net transfer expenditure. Looking at those lists, supporters of at least ten clubs should be on suicide watch judging by the intemperate reactions on this thread.
  10. Dugary, Zidane and Roberto Baggio would all have come to Ewood in the summer of 94/5. Kenny would have continued as boss too. The reality sadly was the rest of the Walker family were in Jack's ears and stopped him from spending more of what they saw as their inheritance.
  11. That was crushing. Monster win. Kiwis will be much tougher.
  12. Hope Rovers go up with them. I'll get my cap...
  13. Significantly, England changed the system to play 4-4-1-1 against the Yanks and it clearly didn't work when woman for woman we could have beaten them. The Dutch switched to 4-4-1-1 and with a more limited side (but without the mistakes in them England had in every game throughout the campaign), gave the USA a tougher examination.
  14. Brentford ideally placed to follow the Norwich model to automatic promotion.
  15. Needs a long business name to fill the back of Bradley Dack's shorts....
  16. I fancy we will start with a keeper and ten out field players, hope none get sent off, and seven on the bench, three of whom come on after the 60th minute.
  17. Summer Transfer Window 2019 Leonard Venkhater replied to Neal's topic in Football Messageboard Putting this carefully...was not a certain journo thought to be actually in league with a certain Barnet lounge lizard? Nail hit firmly on head Leonard.
  18. If Gallagher wants a pretty certain starting position, going to Wigan is a no brainer for him. He won't get one at Rovers.
  19. The season we went down, Dann scored 5 own goals- more than any other player in any top division in Europe that season. Somebody might want Dann back. We are in deepest smelly stuff if Rovers want him back.
  20. We don't need Adam to put a shift in but is ideal off the bench when we need something different. I am heartened by the reports, Barrow or not. The only Rovers player mentioned on the radio for the first 20 minutes was Brereton. Then we got Charlie Dack so doesn't necessarilly signal anything apart from him causing the og.
