Really really looking forward to this game. Brentford another team with plenty of forward power so a good challenge for the renaissance Rovers.
-
Do we know if this is definitely going ahead? Practically all National League and NL South games in and around London are already off because of the weather.
-
Good point- this new professionalism in the Prem is drying up the easy money for agents which will make them even more voracious around players with Prem potential.
-
The issue is volume- sure there is money so silly prices can be forced for the few going to the Prem. But the deal flow is strangled. Championship to Premier League deals amounted to just 4 this window: Mepham, Crouch, Bacuna, Sako Two of which are Prem League players returning to the Prem from recently relegated clubs.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/01/sports/premier-league-transfer-window.html Some of the most insightful writing is now in the New York Times "on Soccer". Basically argues technology and technical staff have taken punting out of transfer signings so now only players profiling to meet needs exactly get signed. Meaning less transfer activity in the Premier League. Money is there but now it is harnessed to scientific assessment so doesn't get thrown around the same way. At which point I am adding this means - Less windfall selling in the Championship - Less transfer money to merry go round in the Championship - and quiet windows for everybody because if you sell you cannot be certain of winkling out your targeted replacement from his current club.

Have we signed anybody today yet?
-
We sure will get fed up of playing Norwich three times in ten days.

Looking at those fixtures we could win every one of them based on not only how we have played in the current run of wins but also in the majority of games before. BUT Looking at those fixtures we could lose any of them...
-
Madan should try Magadan (look it up) if he really wants to get away from us.
-
Of course Harry was a cripple when Mowbray was talking with Boro...

Second of a run of three games against the current form teams in our league and this lot have a deadly striker as well. I know we have a good record at Griffin Park but Brentford are currently 8 unbeaten since they lost 2-0 at Hull on 15 December. Yes we should get at least a point but any complacency and we will be coming home as empty handed as the last day of this transfer window.
-
This MIGHT be relevant. Hull Daily Mail newsflash that the Tigers are fighting a rearguard battle to avoid Grosicki signing for Middlesbrough.
-
Read that as I was booking a British Airways ticket on the other laptop!

Lorimer was phenomenal- for current fans, think in terms of the Reid blast at Wigan as average.
-
Sure- 62-65 side would have won the title with the right management and behind the scenes set-up. 69-70 were a second division team for a reason. Don Martin I would rate inferior to Danny Graham. Stuart Metcalfe and Eamon Rogers were both mercurial geniuses. Both capable of exceptional play beyond anything any player we have had since Tugay but both with massive limitations. Oh if only there were sports psychiatrists and fitness coaches in those days but that went for the entire English set-up 1970 onwards. I have no doubt England had the raw footballing talent to win World Cups but were beyond clueless at managing them.

Think we should convince the opposition we play 13 a side so we can get all our obvious starters in..

Two observations Rovers have scored some cracking goals in the 18 months Dack has been with us, and Dack's distribution is fabulous- I don't think that gets enough notice.
-
Bowen was a prospect until Rodwell kicked him..
-
Dack is exactly what the Dingles are missing. They have all the flair of a dead fly.
-
They are moving anyway to a house nearer Brockhall. And there is nothing to suggest it was anything other than a burglary by villains who dumped the cars because their fence couldn't handle them.

Shows how much In The Know Nixon isn't...
-
Yes it was the f...ing Home Office who killed that one over number of full caps. This was before Bulgaria got full freedom of movement. This will return as a problem for signing the continental youngsters people on here are complaining we are not looking at. Who on earth would want another Nzonzi anyway?

Donis was actually brilliant. We simply never used him- from management to fellow players. Sutty in particular had a blind spot when it came to overlaps on his right.

Transfer strategy

They were not auditors. They were management consultants. The first lot looked at the business as is and the second lot sent their strategists in from what I was told. -
Transfer strategy

They probably had huge fun analysing the only multi-billion industry they are normally not welcomed into. In consulting terms there was no rocket science but Rovers have now got an enormous competitive advantage having 1) previously been so badly run so the benefit of the recommendations are easy to see thus giving credibility to their full reports and 2) being the only club which has had such a thorough and professional going over and a strategy put in place. I guess Venky's in India have also used strategic consultants in India which is why they had the good sense to bring two lots in to keep them honest. The fact this is such a one off is probably why it doesn't resonate with a football man like Stuart.
