  1. Nobody got a cold in East Lancs this Winter?
  2. Never saw him play as he had already been sold but very saddened by this news.
  3. It is the scum that comes with Kean that I never ever want to see back anywhere near our club. I think that if we put a bag over our head with regard to everything from 2010 to appointment of Mowbray and only look at the time since Mowbray arrived, Venky's are now much better than average owners and the only reason why we are beginning to think of a return to the Premier League (with a chance of staying up if we get there). My other unpopular opinion- I would rather play the dingles in the Premier League than in any other division.
  4. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  5. Utterly frustrating. Bristol City are nothing special despite their run and the fact they can win 8 on the bounce shows this league is there for the taking this season. That game offers us fans another what might have been. This squad is not as good as the best squad Bowyer had available and Rovers were more ordinary than the visitors yesterday. I thought a few looked less than 100% fit but the reality is we have too many players who blow hot and cold are not quite adaptable enough when circumstances change game to game or within a game. Williams did better than normal - all credit for getting where he did for our two best chances, no credit for what he did when he got there. It was sensible to have him on the pitch given the lack of central defense back-up. In retrospect probably would have been better to start with Rothwell and bring the unfit Dack on as an impact sub. I really thought Travis was getting a second yellow- he had to be subbed off but again made far too many silly mistakes. Smallwood was solid but unimaginative which is a comment applicable to most of the team. No idea what went wrong for their goal but it was the epitome of winning ugly. But we still miss the snarling brute of a Mr Motivator out there. I think this lot would respond to having someone like that on the pitch and we wouldn't get so many variable individual performances.
  6. Crazy- after a few games of good service today. On the Mac it refuses to play because I have an ad-blocker On the mobile it refuses to play because it says I am in a location without rights No difference to either set up from last week! Switched to Safari on the Mac and it works OK.
  7. BIG BIG BIG Game in the context of this season at least. In the context of club history if we win it and go on to promotion via the play-offs. Writing in hope rather than expectation...
  8. I am having kittens over what sort of injury-ravaged side will appear tomorrow but having Magliore on the bench or even playing does not scare me half as much as the prospect of seeing Williams starting
  9. Ah yes, I remember that Guingcamp is famous for something.. The club's stadium (Roudourou: 18,120 seats) has a higher capacity than Guingamp's total population (7,235). This 20 year old is in their reserves.
  10. Before the Brentford capitulation, Boro were the team people were suggesting most vulnerable to us getting into 6th. The club are doing a promo for it and the fans are reacting with unbridled enthusiasm and desire to get behind the lads in big numbers to cheer the Rovers on to the play-offs..
  11. Assuming he is fit (which goes for most of the squad after last Saturday's ref), this is Dack v Dack's erstwhile cover. Dack had better show he is the real article because if Palmer outshines him we are in real trouble in this fixture. City coming to Ewood on a run of six league wins so we need to repay a few compliments after the 4-1 at Ashton Gate and our run being ended 5-2. Happily just take the win. Bristol are not frightening like Hull were on their run but this makes them a harder proposition. Hull have players whom if you stop supply to you stop Hull (funny how Brentford did that in reverse to us). Bristol City are strong all round so the eleven Rovers players whoever emerges from the treatment room are going to have to win their individual battles against their Bristol opposite numbers.
  12. If you watched it, Boro made our performance at Brentford look like kryptonite.
  13. If we had paid £10m and £40k per week for whatever it was Assobalonga thought he was doing in Newport tonight, this board would be unreadable for the next year. Ben you are brilliant mate and the bargain steal of the season!
  14. True- Coyle would have taken us to League 2.
  15. We took eight injuries yesterday, not just the four who came off.
  16. Just as last week, it was Sunday when how good we were against Hull hit me and I couldn't stop smiling for three days, woken up this morning with the hammer blow of just how goddam awful that defeat was.. One for the oldies here, but this season is reminding me of 1977/8 under Jim Smith. Totally unexpected really good season with some stunning dominant wins interspersed with some horrific defeats. We lost 5-2 at Blackpool in front of the cameras with Bob Hatton getting 4 if I remember correctly. We finished 5th but in those days no cigar. Happily take 5th again this season but sticking with my forecast of 7th and a lot of recriminating bunnies in East Lancs. Another parallel, mid-table bunched up that season as well and in fact we finished only 8 points (2 points for a win) ahead of Blackpool who got relegated- Brentford be warned! At the risk of upsetting Stuart again, we lost yesterday in the centre of the park. For the first quarter we were hitting nice diagonals and getting Arma in to terrify their back line. From the moment they pinned Reed to the advertising hoarding, they signalled their intent and bullied us out of control in the centre. From then on it was their players being fed the diagonals to expose Bennett in particular. Our supply to Arma dried up and they could press forward without fear. Conway was a really bad sub decision, we needed Rothwell to worry them the way Dack worried them assuming he could survive the assault and battery the ref was letting go. In fact the 50th minute yesterday was the ideal platform for Rothwell to stake his case in the same way BB got to show he is the obvious forward sub ahead of Nuttall. Big job behind the scenes this coming week. Mowbray to get the heads right. The physios to repair the bodies of Dack, Graham, Evans (sounds he could be the worst from Mowbray's interview) and Lenahan plus the walking wounded of Reed, Bennett and Travis- all of whom would have been taken off injured in a more normal game.
  17. Thank you. Echoes what I have heard that Rovers has become a properly run club again remarkably quickly. The Briggsy Boy situation is every CEO's nightmare- you are damned whatever you do. Rovers have an ifollow/Sky contract which confers video exclusivity and technically and in reality Briggsy compromised it. So you "don't notice" until put in the position creative ignorance is no longer tenable and you have to send Briggsy a letter which you know no matter how well it is phrased or officially presented, will unleash gnashing of teeth over big brother etc etc. I am sure Waggot didn't want to intervene but contractually it was a no brainer. As a fan, Briggsy is a good watch but his videos weren't- I know what it is like to be in the crowd when Rovers score and thankfully I am tall enough and better focused to get better views than Briggsy offered. As to whether I want to see Briggsy's video clips after the event or an increasingly professional ifollow offering live for E6 each game, it is a non-contest, sorry Briggsy.
  18. He was clearly feeling the effects of repeated clobberings.
  19. I didn't write I want Smallwood back and no I don't want him back. BUT There have been cracks in Travis' game and Brentford had a plan to rob Travis of the ball when he got possession and force him into passes they could intercept which worked. Travis and the coaching staff should learn from this and Travis will become the better player for it.
