  1. The BT feed was the worst signal I have ever experienced from an English game. This was watching in a bar with multiple legitimate channels and every one was rubbish. Finally seen the Joselu goal on a clean screen. The only excuse for the linesman was he was so far offside during the build up to the shot he was out of his peripheral vision. Seriously, Joselu made next to no effort to get himself onside and his stare- not glance- back at the linesman said guilty. Such a shame Graham and Brereton missed such fabulous chances but you put those away or Premier League sides punish you. Crowd looked and sounded good on TV and Rovers did themselves no harm after the wobbly opening. First goal was good fortune but if you don't smack it, you don't get lucky. Rovers don't shoot from distance enough for my tastes. If you are willing to take a pop, defenders need to come out more to block creating holes behind them.
  2. Excellent preview. Ipswich will not make it easy for us but it is essential for us to win to keep momentum and fans' belief going. Rovers need to press them from the first whistle. Ipswich league record to date is: P 27 W 3 D 9 L 15 F 22 A 46 GD -24 Pts 18 Add in their Cup results- Knocked out by Exeter and Stanley and they have been defeated in 17 out of 29 competitive games this season. Of course 2 of those 22 goals scored in 27 games were against us... Even so, no excuse at all for us to be set up defensively because they let in goals for fun at the back. We righted two dropped points earlier in the season against Millwall last Saturday so surely we should/must also put Ipswich to the sword. Let's score early and often...
  3. Enjoyable game. Premier League class won through but we could have nicked it. When you look at our injured and ill list we were 7 or 8 players down. Disagree there is nothing to play for- only 6 points off 6th means there is plenty to play for. Should be a fun last 19 games.
  4. Yes you are right. Only the Premier League don't have fixtures scheduled for 4th round weekend now.
  5. Pathetic Rovers turn out at £10 a ticket.
  6. Feeling really excited about this game (and Hull in ten days' time). Chance to measure ourselves again. Just wish there were going to be a monster crowd.
  7. We will have to improve against bottom end teams. We have only beaten one each of the teams away at the 7 worst home records and home to the teams with the 8 worst away record.
  8. I didn't know Pep had said the same thing. I am sure he also agrees with me that rain is wet- statements of the bleeding obvious. What players are currently available for sale or loan? Remember if they are no better than what we have, there is no point getting them so we are looking for Championship promotion winners. Only 16 other clubs (and one or two Prem clubs) looking for the same rare beasts.
  9. My argument is January isn't when you can substantially rebuild a club. Sure there are odd good permanent and some good loan signings to be had. I would hope we are looking at loan with a view to buy options. But there is precious little transfer action anywhere so far this month. It wouldn't be the end of the world if Rovers had no more ins or outs this window. The nightmare would be a £20m offer for Dack coming in on 29 January.
  10. £10 a ticket for Tuesday v Premier League opposition
  11. Agree with every word of this post. From the TV screen the pitch looked an absolute disgrace. I have noticed Rovers tend to underhit passes as a rule because I guess we are good enough to rescue interceptions but on that midden of a surface, what quality we have was totally negated by balls bobbling all over the place. Adequate excuse for Dack not being at the races and Travis not as outstanding (except for his role in the goals) but not for Bell who somehow got through the evening with plenty of spills but didn't drop the whole tea service. Makes Arma's composure for his goal even more outstanding. Great thing about Nuttall was he gambled and got in where it hurts for the first goal. One of the reasons we score so few from open play is we are bad at gambling getting into the six yard box but Nuttall did that yesterday. Nyambe undoubtedly improved the side. I was expecting him to use his pace but he sat deep and held the line solidly. Bennett moving further forward was playing him to his strength and he made runs and challenges which show why he is such a favourite.
  12. Probably telling Bradley he is not as fit as he should be after a surfeit of Coca Cola and Pringles.
  13. It was Mulgrew £3m that ?for me. Get Dack properly fit and he is easily worth that.
  14. I think Sheffield United have shown the way forward of how to play a back three using ex-Rover Jack O'Connell. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that well-managed, Rovers have an absolute gem on our hands in Rodwell. Extend his contract please.
  15. Two other take aways. 1) Millwall are reasonably OK for surviving this season but were rubbish. They dragged us down to their level for 85 minutes. 2) To get relegated now, we probably need to average under 0.5 points per game for the rest of the season. Reading are currently on target to get 39 points, Bolton 37 points (our current total) and Ipswich 30 points.
  16. Rodwell showed class on a number of occasions yesterday- we all know he has that. What marked yesterday's game was he played a full match without any howlers. If he keeps this up he should surely be coming through as a first team regular. With him, Travis and Dack we will have something beginning to look like a Premier League quality spine.
  17. However, no masking the fact that, IMV, as a footballing unit , were pretty good v Norwich, Leeds and Sheffield United for 85 minutes each. With regards to other posts above, I wasn't there and watched it on ifollow (on my Mac for a change) and only when Millwall were awarded their two corners did I have any anxiety about them scoring- only because they have 7 ft 10 in (or whatever they are) defenders.
  18. Rovers now have played both games against three of the top four which means on the teams around us have somewhat tougher games to come on paper. Three clubs have zoomed up the table with runs of five or more wins- QPR, Brum and now Hull who are the third of our three home games coming up on the trot. Hopefully, we can get a run of successive wins going ourselves now. Very often runs get going after grinding out the sort of win we have got at Millwall this evening.
