  1. It would be great to have ACD and Beck back fit. Hope players getting representative honours come back 100%
  2. Controlled the game well and that first goal was quality. Apparently 42 passes and over 2 minutes of possession in the lead up! Travis dream pass for the second. Again Hedges refusing to shoot when well placed.
  3. I just want us to break the habit of not getting the ball on target when presented with an unguarded portion of net. 7 times in the last 3 games?
  4. We make few chances but those we do create are in the must score/really should score categories which are really dispiriting to players and fans alike when we miss badly. Don't care if it is an ugly fluke, a soft penalty or a worldie og, please can we have a break and score from it (or two or more) tonight? Stoke likely to be awkward opponents but not man for man better all over the pitch the way the Blades were.
  5. They were better in most facets. We desperately lack pace up front and physical strength also. Getting cheesed off with ref bias against us also. That said, Hedges air shot in front of gaping goal JRC air header in front of gaping goal Failure to take those didn't give ourselves a chance of nicking anything.
  6. Very very unfortunate penalty to concede especially when the ball which strikes the arm is travelling away from goal to nobody in particular. Overall we were slightly the better of the two teams but we got neither of our gilt edged chances on target and that cost us.
  7. Has anyone got a copy of the rumoured (several sources) recent Indian press story? A scouring of the internet produced the most comprehensive answer from Perplexity: There is currently no confirmed source directly stating that Venky's are selling Blackburn Rovers. However, there are ongoing discussions and speculation regarding the financial difficulties faced by Venky's, particularly due to a tax dispute with the Indian government that has affected their ability to fund the club effectively. Tax Dispute: Venky's are involved in a significant tax dispute in India, which has led to the seizure of assets and restrictions on transferring funds to Blackburn Rovers. This situation has raised concerns about their long-term commitment to the club and its financial stability . Financial Struggles: Reports indicate that despite having invested around £184 million into the club, Blackburn Rovers has not seen significant success on the pitch and remains in a precarious financial position. The Indian courts now have control over Venky's finances, complicating matters further . Speculation on Sale: While there have been past instances where Venky's dismissed rumors of a sale, there is an underlying sentiment among fans and analysts that if financial conditions do not improve, a sale could become a possibility in the future . The current narrative suggests that while there is speculation about a potential sale, no official announcement or credible source confirms that Venky's are actively seeking to sell Blackburn Rovers at this time.
  8. Solid performance. Baggies one of the best outfits in the Championship so to be level pegging without too many alarms matching them all over the park is very encouraging.
  9. West Brom have quality all over the park and real depth on the bench too. A really stiff challenge and that humiliation at the Hawthorns to be avenged as well. I trust Eustace to get an up tempo performance in what promises to be a real cracker. All three results equally likely.
  10. Look at how he arrived at Rovers from Preston. He is going to do the same to us this time. What is his transfer value to another Championship side? Most with any cash would pay 2m for sure. So a 1m signing on fee and a bigger wage than Rovers will be offering. He will be at a club like Stoke next season.
  11. I think he will be needed against the Baggies.
  12. Dolan has been refusing to sign for over 18 months now. It is not a new situation. Glad he had a good game yesterday after a couple of stinkers.
  13. The defending today was top quality facing sustained pressure from Swansea having 66% possession. I thought we would be undone at the back when I saw the selection but every player at the back was excellent. Dolan had a much better game while Cantwell and Beck both showed they are different class. Urgent need to work on ball retention when we are in possession but overall this is a Rovers squad making progress under Eustace. We needed to win ugly and we did.
  14. Two defeats, two weeks without football and not much interest. I would start Toth Brittain Beck Cantwell ACD I wouldn't start Dolan who was a major contributor to those two defeats. The sooner we ditch loyalty and get closer to establishing our strongest starting eleven, the better.
  15. At last some proper perspective in that X of Harry Berry and Ian's comments. To the list of disastrous appointments let me venture into werewolf territory and mention Jerome Anderson (proxy but in reality shadow CEO, shadow director, shadow owner but very tangible personal agenda) and Steve Kean. Sadly Shebby Singh is no longer with us to be able to hold a current position in football but of all in that list, he was at least approachable and had a heart for the the Rovers and its fans. We can all draw our own conclusions about the three recent transfer day deadline "can't find send" fiascos. We can all see the difference between official statements about no impediment to resuming regular 20m per year funding injections and the extreme caution being exercised in running the club (albeit with a "marketing" effort seemingly designed to alienate loyal fans). We will all now watch what happens in January. If Eustace has us within play-off/promotion striking distance, there will be no excuse not to be decisive in the January window - FFP or whatever it is called now will be no longer a restriction - the vast majority of this year's 20m will not have been called upon. Decisive backing of club and coach will show Pune is still interested. Indecision/hidden send button/we had a good summer window STFU and we will know the Pune taps are as lost as the Ewood fax machine. That still will not answer the question about the club's ownership direction but probably portends footballing purgatory. AGAIN
  16. You could tell Dolan received a half time rollicking for losing the ball in their half. So he made sure he lost the ball in our half. But seriously when I saw Dolan dribbling as fast as his little legs could carry him, I wondered if I had hallucinated ht and we were still attacking the goal on the right of the screen. For a moment I thought it was a hell of a break with some Rovers shirts level with him... The one bright spark was ACD when he came on. We need to get him and Cantwell embedded ASAP.
  17. Just looked at the Coventry squad- if they click they will be very dangerous. Saw Coventry v Oxford very early on the season and they ripped Oxford apart in the first half but woeful finishing restricted them to 1 goal which proved costly in the second half. Definitely a game we need to take by the scruff of the neck from the kick off.
  18. I have never seen those highlights before. I remember being on holiday in Portugal and getting the Sunday Times and pinching myself seeing us top of the Premier League.
  19. Last season the red scum got so many raggy wins it hid the underlying problems. I had expected them to get a streaky win against Spuds yesterday but they got absolutely spanked even with eleven and Spurs missing Son. With a lesser keeper than Onana, that would have been a 5 goal hammering.
  20. We are 3rd from top. 3 months ago I would have been relieved at not being 3rd from bottom on 30th September. Hedges is a really solid performer and even gives us cover at left wb when Beck is suspended and Pickering not 100% fit. It shows how far we have come so fast that totally adequate performances from Hedges have attracted the ire on here. We are at a level now that solidly ok is no longer good enough and that is hugely encouraging. We have no idea who got a kicking and soldiered through on Saturday. When fit and not suspended, Rovers now have two complete first elevens inside our squad who would be capable of winning against most Championship clubs. Eustace has said he will use all his squad so the only predictable is there will be at least one unexpected selection tomorrow night.
  21. The loans are doing what they are supposed to do. If the loaned out players cannot hack it at the lower levels, clear decisions can be made about their futures. Vale desperately unfortunate with injury. Garrett seems to have an eccentric boss. Markanday looks too good for League 2. As we move into October those three would seem to be ? but nobody doing a Hayden Carter at Portsmouth level of loan performance.
  22. It is all going wrong for Coventry so far this season. Apparently only losing 3-0 at Leeds flattered them No suddenly clicking into place on Tuesday night for them please. How much Eustace is willing to use his big squad will be a lively discussion on here. I will go with Wharton, Gilsenan, Vale and Leonard not being on the bench. And no Beck either.
  23. Asking for permission to get excited. In Eustace we appear not only to have a good man manager and decent tactician, but a coach who learns and can put lessons into effect. As has been pointed out we have a deep squad. Result is no weaknesses plus new problems for opponents when subs are made. I will add to the night and day subs bench comment compared with last season, that yesterday's bench had Sigurdsson, Britain and Beck unavailable and no space for a kid to be bloodied if we are coasting. Cantwell is different class. Noticed he was also finding space in forward positions the rest of the team aren't yet looking to pass to. Dolan has added brains to feet and is looking an increasingly big player for us Travis and Tronstad are so good individually and as a midfield combination. We all agree JRC is not at his best but I think Carter also can be better than he is showing so far this season. QPR were much better than in the bits of other games I have seen them in and there is a player in Smyth. Our defence did a really solid job preventing a problematic opposition from becoming a problem - and that was playing the second half with two makeshift wing backs. And Hedges played much better overall than his critics are allowing. Final point. I think we can all see this Rovers squad can get better in the next few weeks, perhaps much better.
