  1. Three ex Rovers keepers in PL goal yesterday. Chuck in Szmodics, Armstrong, BBD- have I missed anyone from Rovers playing the Premier.yesterday?
  2. We needed to avoid making mistakes so we made a howler. Weinmann must think he's jinxed. Subbed on again and we immediately let a goal in.
  3. Horvath in goal for Cardiff at Turf Moor gifted 2 to the Dingles. Oh dear!!!!!!
  4. Watched a bit of Boro at Derby. Boro very slick and shooting from anywhere but nothing like as quick as we were in attack. Horrific back pass set up Jackson to run half the pitch and round Dieng for the Derby goal. Derby growing into it despite two bad injuries at the back- Nyambe on and giving silly fouls away.
  5. Sammy seamlessly straight into Lewis Travis' old position on the bench.
  6. Malta is now a country Rovers TV cannot be transmitted to so I understand why I wasn't offered a renewal.
  7. With the Szmodics sale and the new EPL Sky deal, administration is now two years away at the earliest. Either 10m is committed in new player wages, transfer fees and loan fees in the coming two weeks or the signal has come from Pune that funding for Rovers is at an end irrespective of what Waggott and co say. So would we prefer Rovers making a reasonable splash in the transfer market or confirmation Venky's have had enough?
  8. I was grouping where the selection choices are. I doubt he would play the 2 midfielders without another essentially midfield player in the centre of the 3 in 4-2-3-1
  9. Without Szmodics, Pears, Brittain and Pickering pick themselves for better or worse... Choice of 2 from Hyam, Carter, Batth and McFadzean - not that bad 3 from Travis, Tronstad, JRC and Buckley - very thin but all 4 are well capable 3 from Gueye, Ohashi, Weimann, Dolan, Sigurdsson, Hedges and I guess Vale after that goal at Stockport. Even without Szmodics that is a bit of a selection headache for Eustace. Norwich defeat at Oxford wasn't just bad, they needed a completely different system of playing. I maybe wrong and get a nasty surprise but that didn't look fixable in four days on the training pitch. Watched extended highlights of their 4-3 win against Stevenage and read comments. Could transpose this website to Norwich or their website to Rovers - terrible owners, no transfer budget, transfer fees pocketed, horrendous defending of corners. Chuck in extreme division about their manager and some injuries. Doing an Oxford and preventing/disrupting Norwich's flowing pretty game is key. Do that and it will come down to cock-ups at corners to decide it with a bonus of Norwich naive static defending in open play perhaps tipping it our way?
  10. It has taken Ipswich 6 weeks of low balling us to reach 9+2. Make that 9+1 because no way are they staying up, Szmodics regardless. Not as pit of the stomach worried as I was when the first Ipswich offer was made. Gueye, Ohashi and Weinmann have chipped in with 5 goals between them this week so there are still goals in the team. Like everyone else I want a keeper and a rapid winger. 3 high quality loans from the PL wouldn't go amiss either.
  11. Crikey League 2 has aged Bradley terribly. Anything is possible with Waggott etc but I am.not buying the cobblers being written on here about broken verbal agreements and Ipswich shifting their blame onto us about their parsimony in signing a PL bench warmer from us. Plenty of case law that holds a verbal/handshake agreement as a binding contract so if Szmodics' agent is anyone better than just a guy he met in the pub, he would have Rovers in a triple nelson foe breaking their word.
  12. Ploughed through the Phillips to Ipswich and Ahmadhadzic to Ipswich and the Ipswich season previews. No mention of Szmodics anywhere.
  13. Good luck Ipswich.. Am I on my own in viewing Kalvin Phillips as massively over-rated (except when an unused sub which is his usual position these days). PS Elliot Jackson suggested Szmodics came back from Ipswich to Stockport on Tuesday- if there is any truth in it I guess he was already down there on Monday. PPS Ipswich PL fixtures before the window closes are Liverpool h, City a so if anyone gets nervous it is more likely to be them..
  14. A report says Sammy was at Ipswich before returning to Stockport. Don't know if it was a wind up. Markanday dropping to League 2 with an ambitious club could be the making of him- he should have far too much at that level. Letting him go out would suggest Rovers have their eye on an incoming right sided player.
  15. Given the likely weaknesses in the Norwich centre backs, Gueye has to lead the line.
  16. Well I certainly looked at the table when we won 2-0 at Coventry in 1992. Gobsmacked in the nicest way possible.
  17. Haven't see the replays but for it to be an og, Bucko must have massively diverted the 16 year old's shot. That said, from the angle of the fixed camera it looked like he just stood there and watched it.
  18. Surely not. Jason's ability to miss an open goal from 2 yards out is the stuff of legends. He did 5 times to my recollection with one credulity stretching miss at Stamford Bridge. On the other hand, Jason could find the net from the edge of the area.
  19. Rovers started really well and Norwich been disorganised so far. We can be confident Eustace will set us up well (apart from the collective aberration at Ashton Gate has he ever failed in this respect for us?) so we can really go for the win. Obviously we need at least 3 goals with Pears in goal but we probably have the fire power to have a decent chance of scoring that many- not something anyone would have been expecting to be the case just six days ago. One side request- Gueye to smack one on target. Keeper saving it is almost less important than the big man showing he has an accurate powerful shot in his repertoire.
  20. Very encouraged by what the Rovers fan sat behind the dug out said about Eustace being extremely direct and leaving nobody unclear about what standards he demands
  21. 17 days to the end of the window. With Waggott's record make that 15 to give doing the paperwork a chance.. I suspect we are going to be facing the dingles with Pears in goal but Bristol City will be coming to Ewood on 14 September when there will be at least 4 new faces available for selection with at least 2 loans. As for Szmodics last night, he missed a sitter for his hattrick and got pulled. I'd be really worried if he weren't pissed off.
  22. Their keeper was man of the match- he pulled off some excellent saves, particularly the one from Gueye.
